I agree with you about getting gifts for yourself. If I don't get something for myself, who will? My husband (deceased 10 yrs.) used to get a bouquet of flowers for me every week. (From the grocery store.) Now, I try and get a bouquet every week. It may be small, but brings me much happiness.
I love the romantic tale that Blue Willow tells. Short version : the young lovers are forbidden to marry , as her father pursues them over the bridge they become birds and fly away together . Audie is quite involved in today's show 😁
Haha.... you are a girl after my own heart! I buy myself Christmas, Birthday, Easter, and any other holiday one can think of. I'm 77, so that's a lot of presents 😁 Love your channel Sue!!
Maria, I am 73 and do the exact same thing....if I don't treat myself to these extra little goodies, no-one is going to do it for me.... Besides I am never disappointed and am always pleased with my choice if I buy it myself 😆 🤣 😂
So true Sue, however at the time Daylight Savings went into effect there was no heavy morning traffic, people got up early anyway and we had way more farmers, for whom this was invented for. So many times, policies/laws that were appropriate 50-60 years ago are not so in 2021.
Oh how you would love the thrift and charity shops in London and other parts of the country Sue❤️ - amazing stuff and some real bargains of Old lace/old China sets / glassware / jewellery and costume jewellery, etc. You would go be going home broke.
Quit daylight savings. Or keep it at daylight savings. Quit the Insanity! I love all the Blue Willow knock offs and similar knock offs that used other colours but are mythological creatures and such. I use the mismatched much loved not set for every day. My eldest says that they are tacky but she goes to them for comfort when she comes home. Lol Yes please, talk about Canadian factories!
I agree with you on the daylight saving bs! As a kid, who was not an early bird, I ready disliked the 'spring forward' aspect of setting the clock ahead one hour. I too buy myself presents throughout the year.
Hi Sue. I suspect the Noritake was priced so high because the painting or transfer resembled Royal Worcester porcelain, which can sell for incredible prices. Audie is gorgeous. I also have a naughty black cat. They have wonderful personalities but are definitely on the 'look at me' side!
Hi Sue, I too hate the time change especially this time of year it’s dark too early! And Yes, I’m all for reasons to purchase presents for oneself too! Cheers, Pat
I thought one of the reasons for time change was so that the children would not have to walk to school in the dark? That is what my Grandmother always said.
No - it was first proposed by Ben Franklin as a joke, and later implemented in WWII in order to take maximum advantage of the daylight hours for war production. But improvements in energy efficient lighting have made that a moot point. Most experts now feel that it's a wash - we spend as much as we save by changing the clocks. So why go to the trouble? 🤔
Hello Sue and Audie! Oh I don't like the fall time change & sunset so early. Good explanationof the why this & not that. The school house plate was particularly special for a tidbit tray. A celebration of your schoolhouse; hope it's all set & safe for winter. Yes, I think gifting yourself something is special shows we appreciate the sparks of joy. I'm excitedly awaiting my tidbit tray gift. Best of luck to those in the giveaway contest. "Entry ". Your 😇 angels are hard at work. It's going down to the 20s again tonight...brr and the leaves are still falling. See you tomorrow 💕.
@@suemeonyoutube oh sorry it's a boy...Well thing is you belong to him, not other way round, so all your attention should be focused on him...not something he cannot understand but you talk to it lol and certainly not that dreadful dog that wants to be friends, what ever next!! xx
Before I watch video, I'm gonna guess the more muted plate is better. Older, more reminiscent of Impressionst period. At least, that's why I like it! Love ya, Sue!! 👵🇺🇸
@@suemeonyoutube Oh no. I’m so sorry this has been such a process for you. I hope things start falling into place soon. Hopefully by spring this one can be checked off your list. 🤞
I love that schoolhouse plate you picked up but I have to say I've never really been a fan of the willow pattern plates, possibly because I don't like blue.
The three piece …even with the one that was missing it’s mate. Great price, beautiful and could be used for salt or pepper. Everything you bought was very nice and affordable.
What’s interesting to me is that when the time change was introduced it was as an energy savings measure directed at merchants… lately I’ve heard people (city folks) blaming the farmers for the time change… since I grew up on a farm and worked dawn to dark … the time change only affected when we could shop in town…
I learned something new today, I had never heard of a muffineer set! I love that! Thank you 💐🇦🇺. I love china, my first jobs were in china shops, so this is wonderful!
I am so fed up with the time savings crap. I've had to replace the inner workings of two clocks this year due to "Springing forward and and Failing back".
I have known dealers to price their pieces on what they initially paid for the item. So it's calculated in a percent mark-up. I think that may be the reason for the puzzling pricing.
I agree with time change! I'm too old to be confused on such grand scale twice a year! Oh, dear! I'm turning into Grandmother!! Not always a bad thing! 😂😂👵🇺🇸. As for kitty's appearance...adorable! Our furry companions are a joy, but like anything with a mind of it's own, they can get in way when least needed! 😂😂👵🇺🇸
YES!!! We need to celebrate us! Women in my generation were raised to believe that everyone else's needs came first, and we were taught to feel guilty if we did anything strictly for ourselves. Time to get past that and start pampering our inner princess... 😁😁😁
Yeah, that's very bad in some areas. Around here, the kids are not only out in the dark, but the fog is heavy in the mornings, and we are on a back road with no street lighting. And kids being kids, they'll step right out into the middle of the street to see if the school bus is coming... Scary...
My husband's great aunt did painting on dishes back in the day. The China she painted on is marked Bavaria even tho the art was done in the US. Not sure if this makes a difference when discussing the origin of a piece.
Well I'm glad to know you've done the research on the time changing! I've never looked into it, I've simply wished twice yearly since I was a little kid that it would just go away, and I'm now almost 66. I just don't see why we have to keep doing this, and the fact that I'm in agreement with you makes me feel justified in the belief that it is stupid.
Good morning Sue and Audie! I have a quick question regarding the schoolhouse plate you picked up. I think it is adorable, but it looks like a collector plate, many of which I have seen, on the back are labeled not food safe. I have shied away from using those for that reason alone. When you sell those, do you recommend using a paper doily when using the for food usage, or do just recommend for decoration purposes only?
There are a lot of reasons a piece of porcelain might carry that caveat. In most cases, it's simply because the manufacturer did not wish to go to the extra expense of having the item certified as "food safe." It doesn't mean the item is not food safe, it just means the proper agency hasn't given its imprimatur. The next most common reason is that the porcelain was imported as a decorative item rather than a food service item. So these items may be perfectly safe, but because they were imported under another category, they will carry the caveat. The problem is that the food safety labeling is more about international imports than it is about safety - and the reason that's a problem is when people come to see the labeling as unreliable or misleading, they will stop paying attention - and when they really need to heed that warning, they will just ignore it... 😉
Hey Sue. I may be wrong, but I think some sellers just base their prices on what they see items are going for on line. I for one wish they would do away with dst, the part I have always hated is when you have to fall back to regular time. It's not as bad for me now that I am retired, but I can remember all the years when I worked and had to leave the house early in the morning, it would be dark when I left for work and be getting dark when I returned home.

I buy myself a Christmas gift every year and I usually add to my stocking. It makes for a merry Christmas 😎
A Canadian pottery show would be interesting.
Thank you for sharing your antique trips. Always something to learn from Sue.
Love to Audie as well. 👍❤
Audie is so cute, love your “partial black boa” 🤣🤣🤣🥰
We need more of Audie than just a glimpse of that magnificent waving tail 😉

Amen, amén!!
I agree. We should stop this time-switching nonsense. Pick a time and stay with it.
Originally the time change was for farmers and children going to school in the dark. Waiting for a bus or walking
My dad was a dairy farmer in the UK and our cows had to learn to have the hour changed just like the humans.
I agree with you on the daylight saving bs! As a kid, who was not an early bird, I ready disliked the 'spring forward' aspect of setting the clock ahead one hour. I too buy myself presents throughout the year.

Wow, Sue my very first set of dish ware back in the 1960's, was the blue Willow pattern, which I bought cheap in NYC! It's truly a beautiful pattern!

Just pass Audie right over here, Sue. I'll take care of him while you talk. ♡♡♡
I just began last year to buy myself Christmas gifts.
I love my blue willow but some have white columns and some have blue. No one has ever noticed when I have used them...
Love the kitty😻
And he loves to be loved. 😻😻😻
He seems less interested when he's allowed to be on camera 📸
I love coming with you antiquing.
I bought a pretty piece of Japanese lusterware with a pretty scene in the middle because of your shows. It is pretty.
I love the blue/white Lochs of Scotland pattern. Wish I could afford more of it!👵
Cats are just Soooo Dramatic 😄 🤣
She wants to join in xxx
Audie believes this is his UA-cam channel and I should consider myself lucky he lets me use it once in a while... 😺😺😺

Oh seeing that school house plate made me wonder how the repairs are going. I hope the progress is back on track.
Not quite - I think I may have to go back to the contractor who was very good but very slow... 😁😁😁

I love art Deco, especially Aubrey Vincent Beardsley! His pen & inks are exquisite! Thanks Sue, I've enjoyed this!
I wish the clocks wouldn't change here either. I don' t think Audie likes the change in clocks either, hence the pestering
Im ditting here with my Coffee and having a relaxing time and enjoying learning something new everyday.
Omg I just love your cat....loved the video very good advice. 🤗👍
Are you sure that is a cat? and not a bulldog? Beautiful pieces. Great information
Good morning Sue
