In the Zahn Trilogy, I forget which book, Luke goes into a "Jedi Trance-like state" and controls his bodily functions when his X-Wing stalls in the middle of nowhere space.

Then Luke woke up and used a Mountain Dew bottle. : )

I liked how the first edition also had a sublight speed Stat such as 6d for tbe awing instead of a flat number in the second ed. It made for better chase or racing scenes where you would have opposed rolls fighting for position.

Agreed. The book solo adventure does this with speeders. It definitely feels cinematic.

I started RPGs with this game four years ago when the anniversary set was released. To date it was my favorite game. I went to D&D, Numenera, Iron Sworn, and Monster of the Week to see if the modern systems were somehow improved. Now, four years later, reminded by these videos, I have come full circle. I can appreciate the other games, but they can’t touch the Original Star Wars RPG.

Also remember you get some additional dice. You are adding speed, maneuverability and fire control dice, which is how you are able to fire and evade at the same time and still have a chance to hit.

Star Warriors is actually pretty cool.
    Highly recommend.

Star Warriors was pretty fun, but slow. The problem was that it did not convert some of the ships smoothly, which is why you have a whole conversion chapter in the a Star Wars Companion.

It felt like old school capital ship combat like FASA Star Trek

@@MrSteveK1138 - Nice. The 'Star Trek Tactical Combat Simulator' game from FASA was fun. Like a trimmed down & faster version of Starfleet Battles that kept the essentials.

16:37 Star Warriors was NOT for large Starfleet-Battles! It was more detailed on fighter- & small ship-combat (like the Falcon). And it had some add-on scenarios in some of the early adventures. But to play a large battle with it - oh no...noooo.. it would take forever and ever and..
It was ideal for players who wanted to do, what you - nowadays - do with "SW Squadrons" on your PC in seconds.
A single player with his hotshot-pilot in his fighter/ship, pushing speed, manage energy for weapons and shields etc.
Its pretty oldschool, i liked it, but would´nt recommend it anymore, because of the length of each round played.

I'm giving you a like before the video even starts, for using the intro. That was absolutely glorious.

Super grateful for your star wars 1st edition vids. Im looking forward to getting a game going at some point. The nostalgia on the pages is gold. A lot of people kinda want to unplug from any new star wars stuff and reminisce on the OT and I really think this system is perfect for that for obvious reasons. I wonder how hard it would be to run a 2nd edition module using this system? I've been dreaming of getting a shadows of the empire game on the table..

I would imagine it wouldn't be to hard. There would probably be some fiddling but it is probably doable. 1e and 2e are still very similar at the core.

@@TheBasicExpert Also there was a conversion chart for spaceships in 2nd Edition but by and large you really don't have to adjust characters apart from some consolidating of skills. Like Melee Parry and Melee were combined into just Melee.

It's also possible to run Prequel Era stuff as well cause I'll be honest I avoid the Disney Trilogy like the plague.

Thank you for mentioning Astrogation. Please note that a Hyperdrive of X1 is the speed of light. X2 is half the speed of light. So X3 if a quarter of the speed of light and the awesome X0.5 is twice the speed of light. I once converted the speed of light to meters and then used this to calculate all the way down to X15.

Bullshit! Where did you get that from? The milky way, a pretty small galaxy, is 100000 light years across. Do you suggest that an imperial star destroyer, Hyperspace 2.0, would take 100k years to go from the coreworlds to the outer rim?
The book is pretty clear that it's just an arbitary "this one is faster than this one by this factor" measurement.

Love your videos mate, amazing content. Quick note on the audio, the gain on your mic might be a bit too high. There's a noticeable static noise that's hard on the ear if you use headphones

Hopefully after you run the game you can let us know how it went and your impressions of it. That would be really cool and interesting to hear!
