Indonesia is not just about Bali! Bromo, a world-class volcano, 1200-year-old temple in Yogyakarta

Mount Bromo is one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world, an active volcano, and one of the most active on the island of Java. The sunrise here is rated as one of the must-see sunrises in a lifetime, and it’s not exaggerated at all. When the first light falls on the volcano, the view created by the volcano’s contours resembles a dreamy, heavenly landscape.
Yogyakarta is located in the south-central part of Java and is the only province in the country still ruled by a Sultan. Though it is an independent political entity in Indonesia, Yogyakarta is culturally and historically part of Central Java. The local government consists of a head of government and a regional council, forming a well-coordinated structure to create a sound local government institution. Unlike other provincial heads in Indonesia, the Sultan of Yogyakarta enjoys privileges like no term limits and does not require appointment by the Indonesian government. In fulfilling his duties, the Sultan possesses powers and responsibilities equal to that of the Indonesian government, making the Sultan the head of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
