Slim's dancing to me is like a visual translation for the music. When he moves, you can see the rhythm, melody, all technical aspects of the music come to life. His body becomes a mirror for the sound, reflecting the music through movement. MT, on the other hand, is more of an interpreter. His approach is more like a musician doing a cover song. He takes the tracks and reinteprets them through his own style. His dancing doesn't reflect the music-it transforms it. Making it match his vibe instead. Watching Slim, I find myself looking at the artistry of dance. But with MTPOP, I listen to the music in a whole new way. Slim enhances my appreciation of dance, while MT makes me enjoy music.
There are some crowd cheers here and there. Recording crowd noise and having it at the same level in the vids as one would perceive it on site is a game of trade offs. The crowd mics will pick up the music too but that's gonna be clipping constantly. So it's usually cleaned up in post and quiet as a result. So the question is if you want crisp music straight from the source and just a hint of cheers or the full on site experience with clipping and distortions from hell. I'm sure one can throw a lot of money at the problem to get the best of both but who's gonna do that for dance?
! think a lot of the deadness of the crowd is due to the music. Many D.Js don't seem to understand or care how important the music is to getting the crowd and the dancers hype. They play laidback chill music at times when it should hype up.
i'm not sure if you already know this, but tutat(the dancer in the finals) also participated in the freestyle dance comp in this event and also made it to the finals. He was a beast that night and he used to be a one trick tutter back in the day. Awesome to see him doing great.

I've always wondered this. Must be difficult without a good setup or specialized mics. I guess they won't do that even for the finals.
