I just bought myself the Sick Boi Album for Christmas - this is the first track & one of the best. Rens lyrics are on another level. Merry Christmas Lynzi & to all the Renegades. I think Ren once said that he was an agnostic who wants to believe. A spiritual person but not a fan of organised religion.
I was asked what I wanted for Xmas, so I said, "Ren merch." The pathetic thing was they acted like I was speaking Welsh myself lol, totally clueless! I said add to my gift by watching Hi Ren at the very least!😉😀 Merry Christmas!⛄️
@@debbiedebster5806 Yeah I've had mixed results when I tell people about Ren. I also bought a Freckled Angels Black Beanie Hat from Rens UK Merch Store. Anything that helps Ren out, he needs all the help from his fans right now. Happy Christmas & all the best for 2025.
Merry Christmas Lynzi, hope you are feeling better. The Welsh translates: “ Illness is my teacher. It broke my smile. My bones feel old. Here lies the body of Ren”
The pain expressed here just makes me cry every time. Humble - Kendrick is a reference to Kendrick Lamar's song about staying humble, grounded & true to yourself. Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven. Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile/Child . "Fear of the unknown preserves a religion" expresses the idea that people cling to religion because it gives their lives meaning. The idea that we are here for no reason, that there is no guiding force or plan, is too unsettling for them to accept. So they cling to an established belief system that assures them that somebody's in charge of all this. John Lennon sang Let It Be with The Beatles (But it was written by Paul McCartney & was inspired by his deceased mother.who came to him in a dream.) Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon basically because he was jealous & angry at all the "attention" John had & wanted that for himself. He was envious of John's money & fame; angry that he said the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus" & said he, Chapman, "I thought by killing him, I would acquire his fame" (attention).
Great summary ! Ren has admitted that it wasn't John Lennon who said/wrote Let It Be - I think this was a genuine mistake on Ren's part. John actually hated the song, not least because the single was released featuring Linda McCartney on vocals and therefore arguably not a Beatles song at all. Ultimately it doesn't matter (except to us Beatles fans) Ren's meaning was clear.
Thanks for reacting to this. I think it hits so hard. To me, it reflects his anger toward his circumstances (to some degree). And the lyrics, flow are powerful.
Ren would be well versed in the sound of old Welsh folk music, as his parents spent their summers going to festivals, REN’s dad being into traditional music. His mother told him traditional stories as a child, and later married a story teller, I’ve read. Ren speaks Welsh, and has recently become more interest in exploring his culture. This was the last song to be written for the Sick Boi album, in 2023.
This song is definitely dense and intense. I'd say Ren felt there was no justification for what he went through and he felt both angry at God and that there must not be a God. He notes the irony of his traumas fueling his art, which has brought him success. And the success and money intensifies all the temptations to sin. The reference to Clapton relates to grief and loss, Hendrix to pain, and Kendrick to those things keeping him humble. Pretty much all of these ideas are in other songs and in Ren's conversation his live streams or his posts. Most recently Ren said he's decided to believe the thing that brings him comfort, which is that there is a positive spiritual force in the universe and it has his back.
"A bed where I'm always "depressed", a bed where I never "deep rest" ~~ I never caught that clever word play either until some clever reactor pointed it out to me. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄

See you got the translation. That day on the kitchen floor was the day he fell into psychosis. He had an extension reaction to another treatment and eas screaming in pain, clawing at the floor. He taljs about it in his 8 Chapters he wrote on Renmakesstuff channel. He was in psychosis for 3 months at 25.
Life gets in the way, so it is understandable that sometimes you won’t be able to post new videos as often as you would like. I’m glad you’re reacting to “Seven Sins”, anyway, as it is a favourite of mine. All the best 👍

Maybe just react more and less interpret / explain. “I like that line!” vs “Let me explain to you that line, as I see it.”. Your audience has seen the video already, and likely know more about what Ren means with lyrical lines, from having heard him explain it and / or from being deeper into Ren’s catalog. We’re experts. If you are uncertain about a line or reference, ask. Don’t try to explain the periodic table to a room of Chemistry experts. 😉
Ahh, I’m sorry for that. I tend to process out loud in order to fully understand and take in what I’m watching. I didn’t realize it bothered everyone else as it does me. I’ll work on that.

"The father, the ghost and the holy son..." twist is priceless.
The thing I love the most about this reaction is that your head bobbing did not miss a single beat 😂❤

Lovely reaction and spot on with the Welsh! Once again looking forward to the next reaction.
