you have to love this movie, missouri for so long has been begging to be put in real ship to ship naval combat and now after decades of waiting she finally gets her shot and she did outstanding. seriously when has she ever had a chance at real ship to ship combat, not providing artillery support, not acting as anti-fight role protecting a carrier, when was the only ever time she or her sisters fought with another warship with their naval guns? i've checked and none have so this was so great to see her in action and i mean real ship to ship action.
This I have to say the best made sci-fi movie! The American Navy to the rescue! Gives a sense of pride in our 🇺🇸. The veterans honored all who have and do serve🇺🇸and it was exciting to watch 😀
I don’t know why but there’s something musky and real manly about the vets of old. They had it tough I reckon. Much respect to every vet from every continent that’s seen a conflict (including my grandpa - KIA) who’s done their part in shaping what we enjoy so much today.
There have been no more big wars since WW II, since those vets paid the price for peace. Salute! Yes, there are lots of little wars and the U.S. either getting involved too often or not often enough, depending on your view, but no more big wars. Now we're facing our next big test and that's climate change. I'm 70 years old and starting to wonder if I've lived in a "golden age". The peace between nations after WW II, and an angry planet now.
Just recently re-watched this movie and I still love it. I especially love all the actual veterans in it. You gentlemen rock beyond belief and I have nothing but the upmost respect for every veteran everywhere. Thank you for your service. Did I mention ... I love battleships only second to aircraft carriers? ;)
What I love about the plot is they took this bad assed completely analog lady of death of the sea and put every weapon on point and dropped the thunder on that alien pos....and it was brought on by the men who originally manned her....just a great plot. Thunderstruck indeed.
I remember talking to my relatives when they were still alive. As they grew near the end of their time(s) they spoke what the whisky, cigarettes, and beers consumed at the VFW, Legion, and AMVETS had held back. I listened, asked questions when I was allowed, and learned. Now when I see something like this, I take away what some like me take away. As a PhD in science, the nerd loved this. As a genetic descendent of WWII men who fought and gave their limbs (1) and lives (1- KIA/MIA still), ...I see men who fought like rabid dogs from hell, so we didn't have to live in the real one the Axis was trying to set up on the earth. I am a child of the Greatest Generation, I watched these men afterwards...FROM MY VIEWPPOINT, no one fought harder and lived under harsher conditions.
My last cruise in the Navair was on the Like and the MO came down the port side an had her guns pointed at us in salute. Was freaking AWESOME!!! Her last cruise Then she started lobbing shells about 20 or so over the horizon. 40 years ago.
I had the privilege of seeing the Mighty Mo when she was in Sydney, Australia, in 1986. Beautiful big boat! Acca Dacca fit her and those hardened vets perfectly in this movie.

Love this video. I served on USS Iowa. Missouri is an Iowa class battleship. Some of the inside the ship scenes from this movie came from the USS Iowa museum.
In John Ringo's "Legend of the Aldenata" scifi space opera series, several old battleships are updated and brought into battle against an invading alien force. This scene, and the scenes of those ships raining down "shells the size of a volkswagen" on the enemy always brings a jubilant battle cry to my lips and tears to my eyes. My wife think's I'm crazy, but she'll never understand my love for and pride in our fighting men and women.
"Footfall" by Larry Niven. Alien invasion. Earth builds nuclear space battleship, with guns salvaged from the New Jersey, same as these. Awesome. Highly recommend. Niven knows science and his best friend Jerry Pournelle is military.

I know it's complete fiction the way they bring the ship back but I love this movie. And the soundtrack. There were few things as inherently cool as one of these monsters in action. Some of the Iowas served into the late nineties. There's still nothing on the ocean like these things.
The US Navy has a history of attack while blaring this song on the flight deck. We retaliated for 9/11 on the USS Theodore Roosevelt to this. Someone hit play and then we launched everything we had, all F18s and F14s of all catapults, it was a sight.
Humans vs. Aliens, they may be advanced, But we have devastation, and good rock music, I was so excited watching this, especially when the battleship came in and devastated the alien ship. Just devastating.
Don't care what they said about that movie I actually liked it and I loved it when they brought in the Mighty Mo Being a kid growing up watching movies with my grandfather who was a world war II naval veteran and watching all those war movies this video puts two of my favorite ones together naval battle and AC/DC Great movie great song
People say the Mighty Mo was a great ship. See they are wrong it's not a great ship, It's a legendary ship the ship is a living machine that made history. If you were to bring this ship back today into service with a bit of upgrading, then all nations live in fear! I support our modern navy as well! Destroyers, Frigates, Carriers and our Stealthy Subs but I also see battleships used in a support role!
Seeing them resurrect the Missouri to kick some alien ass just makes my day! What a proud and mighty gal she was! I think my favorite line is "We are going to die. You're going to die, I'm going to die, we're all going to die... just not today."
Having served on the Battleship Missouri for 3.75 years. Decommissioning her. Serving in turret 1 center gun. Missouri Color Guard. It was an honor serving on a great ship with an amazing crew. And seeing her getting underway brought back alot of memories.
"Let's pump some lead into these motherf-" "FIRE!!" God, this movie was an absolute banger to watch, and the music was next level. Especially with the Mighty Mo being put back into combat, just as she deserved. Battleships were outlawed because of their damage. This movie shows why.
Sweet video hard to go wrong with thunderstruck. As a USN veteran I loved when the old timers showed up. As a former boatswains mate and qualified coxswain in the USN I was almost livid with the RHIB scenes and anchor scene. But I quickly remembered it’s a movie about freaking aliens taking on Rihanna so relax
I felt the same way 'Boats,' but frankly it was a fun bit of make believe to watch. The 'old timers' who appeared as ghosts might have were mostly Battleship Sailors who served in several ships, not just Missouri. One was wearing a USS North Carolina ballcap, that would make him a WWII veteran. Most of the others served in the four Iowa class ships primarily during the 1980s and 90s with a few who served during New Jersey's Vietnam cruise and earlier during the Korean War. Off hand, I think they probably taught the movie production kids a thing or two about seamanship in general and battleships in particular.
Sometimes that's all that is needed, skip the annoying Drama, and show me some meat and potatoes. Then my gf slapped me. I won't miss her to much drama.
Вы наши потенциальные враги, но я отдаю честь американским морякам! Честь и хвала вам! Вы настоящие противники, вашу мощь надо уважать, и воспринимать, надеюсь наше противостояние так и останется только на выставках👍✌️
My favorite scene in the movie was when the Vets showed up to help the protagonists. Yes, it's cheesy and unrealistic, but damn is it cool to see the vets on the ship and in action. I wonder how much time and effort went into the invite the vets and to hear them tell stories on set. It must have been magical.
When I first saw that scene, with old veterans offering themselves as volunteers, I had both goosebumps and tears down my face. I still do, when I re-watch the Movie ( couple of times already)
Actually its not unrealistic. todays sailors/computer operators dont know how to work those guns. Its just like todays army. Unless it be in the airborne or light units most artillery is rockets. they have no idea how to work the big guns. but you give us old guys the rounds, fuses, and powder bags we need and we will make those old girls talk to ya. I will never forget seeing that lanyard pulled and feeling the concussion roll through my body as she belched smoke and flame and the metal deck under your feet bucks up half a foot GOD what a rush. I started on the 110s and then went to the 109s which were fun but nothing like the convertibles for sheer awesomeness especially during night missions. Red Leg to the bone.

AC/DC is not heavy metal, it's straight up rock n roll, real rock n roll, as in the only two bands that can currently carry that moniker are AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. @Phillip Eaton there's probably a reason you haven't been a fan before, either A) Your gay or B) You just listen to studio AC/DC which is problematic
Bismarck's got Sabaton and Missouri's got AC-DC. Both bands are great, both battleships are legendary, and both songs kick ass.

When I saw the Movie "Battle Ship" at the theater when this song came on one guy stood up and started getting into the song real heavy. It took two seconds and the males in the audience stood up, raised fist and cheered for the battleships crew😆! Cheering for the "Battle Ship"👏😅. Singing "Thunder Struck" playing air guitar. It sent chills down my body and watching how the audience got into that part.
Sometimes a movie just gets it and they choose the perfect song.
Epic songs like this are of course my favorite. Then there are the more classic songs like Unforgettable at the beginning of Watchmen. ua-cam.com/video/5_pBVXfReA4/v-deo.html

As ridiculous as this movie is (let's face it), it's badass as hell seeing the navy do their thing. Especially the Missouri getting those massive guns off.
you have to love this movie, missouri for so long has been begging to be put in real ship to ship naval combat and now after decades of waiting she finally gets her shot and she did outstanding. seriously when has she ever had a chance at real ship to ship combat, not providing artillery support, not acting as anti-fight role protecting a carrier, when was the only ever time she or her sisters fought with another warship with their naval guns? i've checked and none have so this was so great to see her in action and i mean real ship to ship action.
Brings a tear to my eye...
Goosebumps when the fighter pilot says target locked...thats what power feels like...
Why?
Because a couple words signal hope for the whole world. The alien invasion is about to end.
Best part of the movie. Love the vets, the song, and seeing the old beauty brought to life.
Amen 😀😀😀🔥🔥🇨🇦🇨🇦🇺🇸🤣🤣👊😁🌍🕊🙏🖖😁👊🏻
I love battleships only second to aircraft carriers? ;)
I served on CVA-31 jets were cool to work with..
I agree with your list my favorite carrier is still the U.S.S Enterprise now that was a ship that would not go down without a fight

What the movie called
What I love about the plot is they took this bad assed completely analog lady of death of the sea and put every weapon on point and dropped the thunder on that alien pos....and it was brought on by the men who originally manned her....just a great plot.
Thunderstruck indeed.
The Might Mo never fails to give us goosebumps. Just imagine being on the receiving end of one of those 16 inch cannons!

'Battleship' was a surprisingly good action movie. I started watching it out of boredom and got hooked. In the years since I've watched it several times and it hasn't gotten old yet.
NO IT WASNT.. it was cringeworthy flop! it was as shallow and empty of anything. it was basically the USA wanking off in public.. it was no better than nazi propaganda and was the worst performing film in that year!
Some of the best movies I have watched are the ones I thought would be just ok yet turned out great.
Same here its amazing
Totally agree. I've seen it at least five times and I love it every time. Same with Pacific Rim.
I watched it the first time because I thought it might be interesting. Then I watched it again and again when it came back on TV. I love the scene where the battleship Missouri is being brought to the fight. It was a surprisingly good movie.

Perfect match of music to the scene. Great touch to have The Reagan and the Mighty Mo in the same battle.

The US Navy has a history of attack while blaring this song on the flight deck. We retaliated for 9/11 on the USS Theodore Roosevelt to this. Someone hit play and then we launched everything we had, all F18s and F14s of all catapults, it was a sight.
Blur's - Who Hoo is another good one. Just up the tempo a little.
If I were the enemy and heard a force coming towards me playing 'Thunderstruck' loud and clear, I'd start thinking I should be somewhere else.
Many thanks to you and all who have served our great country!
Between hearing this as ride of the Valerie's ...if I was the enemy it would make me shit my pants.multiple times

A fun movie, the US navy guys is awesome. I even feel all patriotic and I'm not even American 😁
ROFL - funny how things get put into perspective.
This video gives me goosebumps. Go USA & AC/DC!
