I wasn't expecting that (ending). It was especially poignant for me, because I was diagnosed with Cancer last year. I've often thought "what did I do to deserve you" (when I think of my husband and the life we have). I played the song for my husband tonight. We both sobbed at the end of the song. So beautiful and not morose at all.

Heard this song 8 years ago, didn’t know what I was listening to; back then...Now when I do understand; I really wasn’t expecting that ending...a tale untold...
Its a small detail, and maybe I'm being pedantic, but it really added to the song for me, and gave a surprisingly deep insight into life xDthe way the song is structured, probably over 2/3 of the song is about the very early days and weeks of their love. Then from the kids to the death of the lover flies past in about one verse, probably under a minute(ish) of the song. it really spoke to me about how life will fly by at incredible speed once you are older, and you really need to take advantage of your time while you are young to really live, or you won't get it back.

I saw him perform live when I saw Ed Sheeran in Melbourne, and I fell in love with his voice, so lucky to see him :)
Don't think ive ever seen anybody express so much enjoyment while singing a song, Best version.
I've seen a few versions of him doing this song, this one, a few concerts online and shows such as The Late Late Show and Morning Ireland and I have seen him live and I noticed he always has that cheeky little smile after he sings the line :

I was busy trying to work out how old he was, theres no way he could have 3 kids. Then I realised, it's a just a story! And a beautiful one at that. Much more touching than anything on the radio these days
