Like an amateur painter who has the right idea but could make it better with the proper technique and knowledge to develop their own style. In the end, what you have and feel comfortable is right, but if you want to convey the swagger then here's some aesthetic tips

This is very similar but instead it’s relating to the proportions of your outfit. You can bend the rules or straight up not follow them if your outfits still cohesive.
Just reference Japanese fashion brands and how they style baggy clothes if you want to get that wide silhouette look. Most notably Yohji Yamamoto fits are very loose.
you can wear slim shoes with wide pants if the pants fully rest over the shoe in a relaxed sort of slouchy manner. (like the back of the pants is right on the heel) I think having the really wide leg right up ontop of the thin shoe looks really intentional and stylish.

For example long and baggy sweatshirt with loose bottom or oversized plaid flannel shirt. For this look it's better for jeans to be shorter - above the ankle or even higher. In the end, who gives a f about my opinion? Wear whatever you like
