What I've always liked about KoF, is that when the AoF characters use their Desperation Moves, a sound effect plays. It's the same one that plays after they hit with their Desperation move back in AoF. It sounds like crowd noise kinda.

It's funny to see how Clark and Ralf used to have a well toned body back in the day and that now they are just EXTREMELY BUFF.

They managed to bring a lot of KOF characters in one game. They even have variations of the same character. They only missed a few like the US sports team, chizuru, Kyo's dad, Mr. Big, Krauser.

Love Athena's HSDM, it is so hard to memorize and pull off though as it requires multiple controller motions and button presses. That later carried over to Momoko as well in KoF XI.

I recorded the characters in the order they appear from the character select screen. Side by side which makes it easier to keep track of things. I'm not doing some stupid "orochi" or "kusanagi clan" order to please 1 SNK fanboy.

Honetsly, I prefer Takuma version 99-01 and I noticed that all old DM/SDM are back.
Orochi Chris has a MAX2 move that turns him into Orochi. That's the only appearance of him in the game.

i always thought that clark should have the people's elbow, not angel. clark is the one with the flashing elbow after every command grab.
The thing is Angel pays homage to the Rock that's why she has the people's elbow
I believe candidates for best competitive 2d fighter have a combination of balance, gameplay and watchability.
*Balance* - Every character should be playable with a roughly equal chance to win. Nobody wants to watch the same characters over and over.
*Gameplay* - The gameplay should be accommodating to a variety of players and play styles, even at high levels. This is where MOTW utterly destroys 3rd Strike. Capcom generally makes more accommodating games, but SNK games generally have more diversity.
*Watchability* - Matches should be exciting to watch. Art should be beautiful. Animation should be fluid, diverse and plentiful. Attacks should not be repetitious. I would argue that _this_ is where 3rd Strike excels. I mean _really_ excels! I would also argue this is where games like KOF98/UM and 2k2UM edge out MOTW. Some of the older fighters suffer in the art department (Samurai Showdown series; Fatal Fury series), or lack the necessary polish to give their animation impact (Guilty Gear series; Last Blade series; NGBC; Capcom vs. SNK 1/2), and some of the newer fighters are just too repetitious (Capcom's 'versus' series; KOF series post '98).
KOF98 has been a candidate for best competitive 2d fighter for over a decade now and KOF98UM only improves upon that candidacy. I would argue that KOF98UM is more balanced and watchable than 2k2UM, and it probably has better gameplay as well.

Most of these new creative moves (at that time ) could use better animation to suit them... well for game that tried really hard to release new version every year this should suffice.
