How do you tell the difference between the species of Christmas Beetle? I've recently had a lot of them appear on my front doorstep in front of a garden bed. I think they're Emerald Tip Beetles (Anoplognathus brunnipennis). They roll around on their backs and refuse to stay upright if I gently stand them up, and I put them on a plant and they all died :( Perhaps they're at the end of their lifespan? I was thinking maybe they laid their eggs in the garden bed then crawled out to pass away?
Saw your interview on ABC TV!
Thank you for posting this ID Guide for Newbies like me 😊
I'm seeing a lot of Argentinian scabs or bettles in st Helens park. Lots of em during the night hitting against walls and windows 😂
This is great Tanya, can’t wait to show it to my students! Hoping to get a few enthused to join iNat and upload their observations!
