You'll always be my go-to Barbour reviewer. I've had to sell my 3-year Bedale since I've outgrown it. Miss it dearly; will probably pick up another next year. Cheers!
Great video but I will expound a little on the flap on the back of the Bedale. The Bedale was designed for equestrian use and the flap was put in so the jacket would not bunch up when the rider was sitting in the saddle. The flap allows the jacket to lie over the top of the back of the saddle when the rider is riding. The gusseted sleeves are another feature designed for equestrian use. The gussets prevent wind from blowing up the sleeve when the rider is riding at speed. The nylon interior lining is designed to keep water from wicking up inside the jacket. The Beaufort was designed as a hunting jacket that is why it has the game pouch on the rear and the sleeves aren't gusseted because that would interfere with swinging a shotgun. The longer length of the Beaufort is to protect from briars and to keep the upper thighs warmer.
Nice, I picked up this Jacket on Sale over seas for $199, Then I was able to purchase the vest and hood for it, for those colder rainy days. I got everything at sale prices, so I think, Jacket, vest and hood all together we're under $300 including Tax. It's a great classic looking jacket and love that oversized corduroy Collar with the storm strap on it. I'm very happy with mine. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for this review. I just received this type of Barbour jacket as a gift from my grandfather so I came here to learn a bit about it. Great video! 👍
My Barbour Bedale Jacket came today! I'm glad I listend to your advice about sizing down, im 5'11 athletic build, I orderd the 36 and it fits perfectly
Seriously? I’m 5’11 and just over 12 stone, I can’t find a bedale to try on so will need to order online ! I was gonna order 38 but after u saying 36 I don’t know wht to do now! Is it tight fitting on u? And do u wear a jumper under it? I tried a medium in an Ashby and it fitted well! This is uk sizing
Hello, i was looking to get one of these classic Bedale jackets but i cannot visit a store in person. I was wondering about sizing, i am 5' 10" and about 200 lbs, approximately a 46" chest. I was looking at either the 42 or 44 potentially but any insight you would have would be appreciated. You seem to be the expert on barbour jackets. Thanks!
I am struggling to remove the wax smell(no almost a stench) out a new Barbour Bedale jacket stored in a airtight zip lock bag for almost a year! Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks much.
So help me out here. I really want a Barbour jacket I’m just not sure which one to get. I want a do-all jacket that could do rainy spring days to cold windy fall days to even snowy winter days and I want it to be casual as well as be useful for hunting and even to wear over a suit or business attire and I feel like barbours have that versatility. I’m about 5’9” at around 170-175 pounds with a 42” chest. Should I get a Bedale, or a Beaufort? And olive color? Or brown?
Very good explanation, but you rarely address the most controversial and well known issue with these jackets: sleeve length. Many do not like the short sleeves and not sure up-sizing is the answer.
Ohh, good point. I’m usually a 42, but I ended up getting a Bedale size 40. Great fit but the sleeve were super short. Much to my disappointment I ended up selling it on eBay. Will buy another one soon, do you know if Barbour will extend the sleeves? The 42 was much too baggy
Hello Olaf, I’m planning on buying a bedale, my question. I’m 6” 205 pounds and usually wear 42-44 jackets (depending on the brand) my chest actually measures exactly 43 inches. Should I get a 42 or a 40? I tried on a 44 and it was too big
Hi, good to see you back in 2021, I watch every videos of yours, I am interested in buying the "Classic Bedal ", but am not sure about the sizing. My height is 5foot 9inc. chest- 38 Inc. sleeves- 24.5 Inc. Weight- 65 to 67 Medium build Please advise.
38 will fit you. I’m a female 37 chest and the 38 fits me. I’m 5’9 ish 160lbs sleeve length 24 ( it was kinda long sleeve … everyone complain about the sleeves though) I like the sleeves because it moves with you. Very roomy
@@olaf2046 i have bought the corbridge in medium. Iam also considering byuing the bedale at 36. Corbridge is heavier due to insulation but also lengthier.
Hey Jake! Yeah a Bedale should work with good layering down to like 20F degrees (15F is there is no wind). I would prefer the Beaufort because it is longer and covers the upper leg area but a Bedale can work.
Hello there.. love your content!! I am 172cm and weigh about 62kg so I would say, that Im a pretty slim guy;) what size would you recommend me then? I have no idea how they fit and a bit confused about the different sizes as I am from Germany ;) I am thinking about the Bedale or the Ashby and I want to wear the Jacket pretty much year round and would also like to fit a jumper underneath in winter.. would be really happy if you can give me some help;) I guess I would need a XS or a S if they are cut slim.. bit what are these in UK and EU size?
The inside can be wiped with a damp sponge or it gets professionally cleaned with the rewax service. I’ve never had to clean the insides in all my years wearing these coats.
@@olaf2046 Downsized barbours look too tight under the arms and too short in sleeves and in general. Instead of downsizing classic barbour pieces like the bedale and the beaufort, people who don´t like their roomy design simply should pick slimmer designs as the ashby. Classic barbours should be worn roomy as the royals wear them.
This is the best and most in-depth review of the jacket online. I almost felt like I had the jacket in front of me

Surely a Barbour jacket is for life. With age comes experiences and stories. My only regret is owning a Barbour for the first time in my late 40's.
Now u come with nice camera and nice style editing.
Ok you convinse me than😂 i'll buy the bedal one thx😊

The sleeves on the Beaufort are shorter than other brand jackets as they are designed for hunting. Barbour will lengthen the sleeves for you.
What do you think of the Tinford quilted

Yeah I agree with Valentina. Allen go with the c38 for a good fit.
There's a longer version of the Bedale: the Bedale Trenchcoat.
Is the bedale the shortest of all barbour waxed jackets?
How does it fit at your shoulders and chest ?
Perfect due to the articulated raglan sleeves.

Someone mentioned if
Barbour will lengthen the sleeves on Barbour jackets. The answer is yes they will, but obviously will cost more.
Yes. They can. I don’t believe it would be more than $60
Great video👍
Planning on picking up a bedale jacket, with hood and vest
Witch colour is this?
Olive
Is it olive colour?
Yeah. It is the Olive color
I'm 5 8" tall and 170 lbs, do u think that c38 would be good for me?
Hi Stussy! Yeah the C38 would work for you for a slim fity. If you want a slightly baggy fit to wear lots of layers below then go C40.
Should I buy a 38c ?

The question for me is... Sage or Olive?
Olive. Classic Tartan print mainly goes with olive (brown) or Navy Blue.

do you take the jacket off in the car? Im concerned about the wax rubbing off on my chair etc.
No issues ever, I just know not to let the heat vent hit the jacket directly or even put it next to something really hot.
No need to take it off. I have an oyster white leather interior on my car and the wax never came off
Store that I purchased mine from today told me to just make sure not to wear it when you are using your car’s heated seats.
@@emersonwatson6710 Ill keep that in mind, but I don't think the seats in my car would get hot enough to melt the wax :o/ especially in the winter.
How do you clean inside the jacket
The inside can be wiped with a damp sponge or it gets professionally cleaned with the rewax service. I’ve never had to clean the insides in all my years wearing these coats.
Is this a navy colour?
Hi Chris. Nice this is the Classic Bedale in Olive Brown
Water resistant, not waterproof. Waterproof entails complete protection against water, which this (or anything like this) just isn't.
