- OFFICIAL STATEMENT - RACE CANCELLATION at 12.15 p.m. for all runners before and including mountain hut Golica
"Weather conditions have simply become unbearable, extremely dangerous and have already caused a lot of interventions at a high altitude, which mountain rescue was unable to get to by helicopter, as it was unable to depart from the valley due to heavy wind.
All runners, whose race was halted, will safely be transported to Kranjska Gora by bus.
All those runners, who have passed mountain hut Golica before 12.15 p.m., are still in race and we are monitoring their situation extremely closely. The mountain rescue teams have tripled during the last few hours and are working closely with the whole organisation."
Awesome footage and where was this from? Kranjska gora?
Thanks 🙏 and just became your fan.
Carpe Diem!!!!

The finish line was in Kranjska Gora. Unfortunately we didn't get there. We got stopped at a check point halfway to the finish line because the weather conditions got worst and the mountain rescuers couldn't cope with the interventions. The organizers decided to stop the race around midday.
What a pity that you couldn't record the following 10 kms!
It was very frustrating to be stopped there. We wanted to continue all by ourselvs. We changed our base layers and still had 2 sets of dry layers packed in double sealed plastic bags...we were good to go... One lady (organizer/volunteer) said that " All the races are cancelled !They will stop you at the next check point!" The mountain rescuers were getting ready to escort us to the bus making us to understand that the conditions are terrible ahead and that they had a lot of interventions. We decided to call it a day and follow them.
From the bus we could see people continuing the race... the weather getting better. Sun was shining, the ridge was white and we were watching others from the window running towards Kranjska. So frustrating!
We found out afterwards for several people that by accident passed Golica after all this cancellation thing hapened and guess what...no one stopped them. Anywere!
What can we do... we enjoyed this 30 km despite the chaotic organization and looking forward to finish the next race. 😁
@@RazvanPristavu22 I was at the ridge already before my distance (100K) was cancelled. The weather between 10am and 13pm was terrible there. I remember I was surprised that they didn't close the race (at that point I didn't know that they actually did). I think JAT orgs should check obligatory equipment at Golica and then decide if you can continue or not. As they said on the briefing they will. There were a lot of not very clever runners on the ridge, running with shorts only for example. That's why there were so many medical interventions there. Cheers
@@krzysztofkowalkowski6016 I hope you got to finish your race! After so many hours running in that rain, surfing on the muddy paths it must be so disappointing to stop...specially if you are prepared and equiped.
At that time on Golica we were about 5 hours into the race...we were not happy with the decision but we had to keep our heads down. People running the 100km race were stopped...right before the end ...after the hole night and day running in the rain...they got stopped right when the rain stopped as well...
On one hand I undetstand the point of view of the organizers. As they said "they have to look at the hole crowd, not just at few people" - fair, but from my point of view once with the cancelation of the 170km race , they should either realy check if " the hole crowd" is at least equiped for this conditions or cancel the event before the start. Not after 5 hours or even worse after hole night ...
Luckily everyone is ok, and that's the most important thing. Everyone should have something to learn from this ( from participants to organizers )!
i have finished the race ,but after here where you stop , the mountain is really very hard to run, becaus of many people have run , the road becomme so terrible to go, very hard to down the hill. but in the last 15 km ,the road is good, easy to run... so next time ,good luck..
Thank you so much! I wish you the same!
I believe you, I'm a bit disappointed that we couldn't have a go on the last part, but the most important thing is that everyone is ok.
Cheers!
I finished the race as well I ran 30k distance, the trail was just not runable at all it took me 1h 15min to pass 3k from dovška baba to the road leading to Dovje the next aid station, i was so tired after that descent and was almost 2h slower on the time I have set myself to do, there was just so much mud on the trail it was unbelivable, the last 15k was ok. I know it was a hard decision for the organisers but I think it was the right one beacuse there were people loosing shoes, falling twisting ankles, an italian guy almost froze 1k from the Golica aid station. I know that we will have better weather next year and incredible views on the Julian alps. Al the best and see you on the trails in Slovenia.
