Well, we're officially in the Smokey Mountains! Day 141 was the first day hiking into the Smokey's and it sure held up to their name. Each view we thought we'd get was obscured by the clouds or "smoke" in every direction. And what made matters worse was that it was raining most of the day. So, while we hiked 17 miles and stayed overnight in a shelter, we knew we had to dryout at a trail angels house the next night. Day 142 was a bit better weather....we got some great views at Charlies Bunion on our way to Newfound Gap. A big thank you to Scott and Caris for hosting us and feeding us! We appreciate it so much! We've got a little over 40 miles to go in the Smokeys before our final push to Springer Mountain!
Follow along with us as we southbound thru-hike all 2,194 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia to raise money for Parkinson's Disease Research!!
"Is this the AT or a stream?" And the answer is YES!
Hahahaha!! So wet!
Sweet comments Ron!! It's been enjoyable not only watching Sue and Gretje in these videos but your words also!! And yes, what they have done is SUPER DUPER FANTASTIC!! Lori Scherer
Thank you Lori!! I will pass along your sweet comment to dad💜
I was so excited to see the views you got at Charlies Bunion, how brilliant after that rain. And the trail angels once again step up to the plate, you gotta love them all, so so wonderful to get behind this amazing fundraiser.
Ron what a wonderful close to this video, your words were lovely and I am sure like many I am so thankful to be a part of it all, thats how it feels :)
Stay safe ladies, big hugs from the land down under :)
We are receiving your hugs, thank you!! And how amazing that the clouds opened up juuuust enough to have great views at Charlie’s Bunyan!
Congratulations on the Smokies!! Woo hoo. Glad you were able to get warm and dry this day!! Angels are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your journey.
Thank you!! And YES - being able to shower and do laundry at the end of 2 very wet days means everything and more. Hard to describe how amazing it is!
They call them the Smokies for a good reason! You guys did great on your first two day in the Smokies.
Haha that’s what we kept saying to each other!
I think Stitch senses the end! It seems as if she's gotten her second wind. Go Sue!
She’s INCREDIBLE isn’t she?!
Ron. True an accomplishment of a lifetime.....
Couldn’t agree more!
wow, that was a lot of rain. But nothing seems to stop you two.
☔️☂️⛈️🍨🍧
Yes so much rain the first 2 days in the Smokies!! Still beautiful!
You 2 are kicking butt! I did a flip flop in 2022 and rarely did more than 20 miles a day and here you 2 are doing 17 miles on the first day into the Smokies! I did 9.5 miles that first day. So enjoyable to watch your videos! Crossword
Ahh thanks Crossword!! And our plan going into the Smokies was to go as fast as we could incase the weather got bad. We didn’t want to risk it with it being so late in the year with possible snow and ice
Happy you got some views during the first section of the Smokies, rest, dry out and restart the last section.
Yes - lots of rest for sure and we are so blessed to have been able to dry everything out and do laundry at Scott & Kariss’ home!
So proud of you fellow Minnesotans⛄️You are doing such great work! But you are killing me with the lag time between videos😂I am addicted to them! What will I do when you are done😢
But seriously, thank you ladies!!
Hahahaha we support this addiction!!
You ladies are so strong! 💪
Wahooo💪🏼💪🏼
I knew that week you were in the Smokies was a flood. I was praying for y’all. I live about 3 1/2 hrs from there. Might just have to do some day hikes.
Yeah it was definitely wet, but still stunningly beautiful! And yes you should!!!
Even in the clouds the Smokies are beautiful. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Yes they sure are!!!
Sooooo glad you had such amazing views at Charlie’s Bunion!
Yes we were so happy as well!!!!!! We were expecting fog the entire day, but then we lucked out!
Congratulations on entering the Smokies! 👏👏👏👏 Stay safe and dry! Hike on. Your almost to the finis line! ❤️🙏😇⛺️🗻
Thank you!! Almost thereeee!
Rise and shine! Love that song!!
☀️☀️☀️
My park! Great to see
It’s so beautiful!!!! We’ve gotta go back some time
The Smokies are beautiful especially where you showed Charlie's bunion! (Lol not sure if I spelled that correctly). Oh my gosh...mice! I am terrified of mice. Lol I am more scared of mice than seeing a bear!
Yes we felt the same!! So to see a ton of mice in our shelter AND the fact that they chewed our stuff didn’t make us too happy
Yikes …Smokies are smokie looking, hope tomorrow is better. Stay safe
Veeeery smoky looking the first half!
Strong in the Smokies! Love it. You guys are doing so well and the funds raised keeps going up. Whohoo!!
Smokies Strong💪🏼💪🏼And the fund raising is why we do what we do💜💜💜
Very nice view on a rainy day
Yes! We were so happy!!
You really had me going - i thought y
Let me try again. You fooled me on that one view the 2nd day. Thought you really had a good view. Then I cracked up when you showed us the non view. Ya'll continue to amaze me. Your attitudes are so great even in the rainy weather. But like you said- it could be worse. Hang in there you've got this. Ya'll stay safe and try to stay dry.
