I had this camera not too long ago. It’s amazing. Like a modern dslr without the d. And the eye autofocus was pretty cool too. If you’re a canon digital shooter and want to add film to your photography, this is highly recommended since you can use your modern canon lenses on it
Canon eOS film cameras are the most slept on 35mm SLR’s, they don’t have that old manual looking hipster cred, but they’re cheaper with more features and you can use brand new lenses on them. I’d take a 7ne over an ae1 every day.
The AF in the EOS 7NE is more like the 20D AF than the 5D Mk IV, but the eye autofocus is unique to this series. The AF is fast and fairly accurate. The best thing about it is Canon’s 35 zone evaluative metering which is excellent. Some modern EF lenses are under designed and rely on digital correction to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration. so it’s worth doing research if aiming to pair a modern digital lens with this camera.
I found a EOS 33V, which is the 7n. I have fallen in love with it. Love the textured finish and the 4,000th shutter speed. Love it, even with the sticky grip.
If you’re expecting to shoot wide open on the 50 1.2 with film expect a lot of chromatic aberrations and a very soft image. I own a Canon 1n and got poor results with that combo. Stopped down it was okay but not worth the price of the lens. Instead of keeping the 50 1.2 I got a Zeiss 50 1.4 ZE. Much better results wide open. The only trade off is The lenses is manual.
jD From what I’ve seen and heard is every other Canon L lens is better than the 50 1.2. The 50 1.4 is similar to the 1.8 but with better autofocus. The newer 35 1.4 is really great.
Great vid and great images. For people considering the getting an EOS 35mm camera, the Elan and Elan II are also really solid choices. Another option is the Canon 650 which is built like a tank.
jD it actually has a crazy in Camera autofocus that is calibrated by your eye. I thought it worked well, I’ve only run like 5 rolls through it tho but they all came out in focus.
EOS 7s / 30V / ELAN 7NE (Japanese/Asia-Pacific European/North American product names) and the EOS 33V / ELAN 7N (Asia-Pacific Europe/North America) according to wiki

yah that fad "film look" will be fading away this decade but i will continue to shoot film and edit it MYWAY
That's because the modern EOS cameras came out when digital cameras appeared and the digital revolution took over

Mine is sticky too, try rubbing alcohol with a cloth!
@@Jayysam95 Did that awhile ago. It has been 9 months. Lol. Pulled a lot of black stuff off. Not sticky now though.

yesss ive heard this, my only concern in spending so much on a lens is that - do u have any 35mm recommendations? is it the same for the 35mm 1.4
also what about the 50 1.4? $299 for a little more light coming in and still has autofocus

jD but with L lens that’s just my experience when shooting digital. They may perform better or worse with the grain of different films.

@@Thefury06484 i'll have to do a comparison sometime!
I've heard of it, I have the Elan 7e.
Try Canon 35mm f2.0 IS . . . . . .beautiful sharp lens . . . . . .as good as many of the Canon L series lenses in my opinion . . . .
Agree 100%! I also have the Tamron 45 f/1.8 VC and it too is very sharp, maybe sharper than the Canon 35 f/2 IS.
Is that a DCA custom sweater?
