You cant say Mihoyo of all companies is going bankrupt when they have their Genshin and HSR cash cows. They are just becoming greedy and business oriented like every game studio eventually becomes once they get success. I'll admit i wasnt expecting the interaction feature to be easily accessible and had a feeling there would be some disappointing catch to it but having to get 5 copies is insane. Not only the high paywall but also that you can only focus on one ML card as an f2p or small spender who starts saving some months prior (Im Artem stan so i usually start saving for his birthday and anni from February after Valentine's day cards, then i go for Luke anni after him). Idk this isnt really my thing but nothing can be done i suppose

It's really not surprising since Mihoyo has always been this way. A lot of their controversies (specifically from genshin) derive from profit oriented decisions, and being apathetic towards their consumers. and yeah, with the major success of HSR, and Genshin, it's an absurd decision to put such a pay wall on TOT. It's just.... disappointing. Perhaps they're trying to turn TOT in 'cash cow' like their other games...
International server player here. Feel like our current 2nd anniversary banner is way friendlier at this point. At least I don't have to empty my bank account for the one card I really want. This is definitely a new way for Mihoyo to encourage players to spend money. >< I might actually not consider pulling for this banner next year and will save my items for other banners.
Same, as someone who plays both CN & global server, I would say the 2nd anniversary are much friendlier as you can immediately get the badge and ring after completing the story part I was pretty livid about the system as I am a f2p on CN and they made it even difficult for me (My gacha luck is pretty inconsistent and really limited resources) 😡😑😤 I might as well save up for the all servers event MR that will be release somewhere in August if they don’t change the system for this event
Quite dissapointed in this whole SSS system and 3rd anniversary, I hope they get plenty of backlash for this because it's honestly very greedy for no reason. I understand that ToT doesn't make as much as Genshin and Star Rail, but locking everything behind dupe levels is just too much. If we could exchange Gift 1 to Gift 2 and Gift 3 then it would at least be a little better (I mean, I have 300k Gift 1 and nothing to use it on)
Uhh this seems so difficult to raise enough s chips for this event. Especially since anniversary is the biggest event for ToT (well at least in my opinion), so it's disappointing that they make it this difficult to to get the reward

I guess they wanna include "constellations" for TOT similar to what they have done in Genshin and HSR. Honestly not surprised but still kinda sad for F2P players
It’s even worse cause all constellations do is add power and maybe qol but with this system you’re locked off from the mechanic they designed as a new ‘upgrade’
The thing with constellations is that they provide upgrades that are worth the money since it enhances the gameplay to a certain extent. Imo having to unlock interactions should already have been a core feature of the cards, since there's already an illustration for it. I'm not sure how much value it adds to this SSS system, when each level of interaction is locked behind a significant paywall (100 pulls max just to upgrade 1/5 levels of interactions). ToT never felt like a F2P game, but this decision makes it even LESS F2P friendly at this stage. To add fuel to fire, the banners only last for 20 days. At least in Genshin and HSR we're given more time to grind due to the banner durations, plus they are way more generous with their currencies.
It’s amazing how quickly my hype dissolved 💀 I used to be a monthly/occasional pack spender but these decisions actually make me even more glad I stopped giving them my money. It’s already so incredibly expensive to get even one SSR if your luck is bad, let alone this? I expected the SSS cards to be more expensive, but this is way worse than I imagined, especially given how stingey the game already is in giving out f2p s-chips compared to games like genshin/star rail (so far). Massive yikes. Hoping to see a change in this, it’s sad to see a game like this that I’ve loved going down this path 😬
So to add it all up, if you want all the cards and all the interactions you would need to make 2000 pulls, which equals 360,000 S-Chips. If you wanted to have enough for this on global next year that means we will need to start saving 1,000 chips a day. That’s actually insane!!!
Double SSR banner still okay compared to this SSS card💀 at least pity is still 100 which means we at least can still get the card for the story after 100 pulls
Gosh, I started noticing the level of money-hungry of Hoyolabs when they released the special consultation card for Artem (the one he’s a pilot) and now you had to spend waaaay more s-chips than you had before (because it was imposible to get the card if you followed the 3 cases per day with one lawsuit). It made me so mad that I drop the game until just a few days ago that I started playing.

For anniversary I like getting cards of all 4 male leads, if I wanted to get just one card then it's possible to get all interactions but you have to collect schips everyday and not pull for anything else. It's sad, so if nothing changes for global players then I will just forget about interactions 😔 at least they didn't lock up the story of cards with paywall
Yeah i agreed. At least they still guarantee to get the card in 100 pity and won't reset the pity too if we get another card. Story is 6 part too. I will just hope for whale player to upload the interaction on youtube😂😂😂😂

I really hope they change this condition and that players can unite to make this change happen because this is simply ridiculous ... I'm someone who doesn't play the game all the time, I sometimes don't log in for a few weeks, so even getting one SSR card is super super rare for me so this? I feel like out of all of their games, ToT is the most ridiculously overpriced one. As I said, I will definitely complain about this in the surveys because this is straight up unfair at this point ...

Not sure about 200 pulls, I was doing dailies and events since the 1st anniversary and until now I had like 400+ pulls and if count the times when I pulled for 2 cards it's around 500+ pulls

The game is best for players who are already working or are rich. Too cruel for players who cannot spend money. But I will still support the game with real money no matter what. At least this is one of the best otome app games that I have ever played! 💗
As a f2p who had reached hard pity thrice in the anniv banner now, I will excuse myself and sob in a corner. I admit that they are encouraging player to spend more money but for me personally, I don't think it's that bad? You only need to spend if u desire to get more interactions right? Me personally will be happy even with just getting the card lmao😂 so base card for me will be totally fine. Technically it's quite the same with SSR, just that to unlock more interactions, u need to pull for more copies which may lead to more spending but if u're happy with just getting the card (like me), I don't think it makes much difference. As long as I can read the card story (which is the most important to me) I am happy :D. For the namecards, yeah it is quite unfortunate but I'm not really a namecard collector so I don't really mind about that. Anyway that's just my opinion ^^. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts. It's just quite disappointing seeing how stuff are getting more expensive. Like in 2nd anniversary, we get the rings (badge) for free and namecard at cumulative draws. But 3rd anniv, the key(badge) no longer free but need cumulative draws, namecard become need to upgrade 2 stars. While I am happy for the interactions, they really push a lot of benefits away. Moreover, the rate for the cards has also been reduce from 1% to 0.8% making it harder to get the SSS card. I feel like I rather they not change anything and maybe release interactions as paid items 😔

I think they're just pushing for people to be 单推人 but 5 copies is really insane 😮 Iirc after love poem to skadi hoyo changed how the banner operated which actually resulted in backlash from the CN community. But now players grew to sort of accept it? (I was actually not that sad cuz I didn't manage to get Artem's card and instead 2 Marius after draining my s-chips (was f2p back then cuz I was still not eligible to apply for a debit card)) Ngl this is giving me vibes like the l&n hooha that happened not long ago, though I understand that indeed the 氪佬 players are the ones providing the revenue to the game and company but that doesn't mean that the 微氪 and f2p players aren't given a chance to obtain sort of the same rewards. Tbh they could have made the interactive part grindable for players who (me as well) unable to afford to gacha 5 copies in one period. (I'm not very sure if my comparison is an acceptable one but they just give me the same feeling towards this issue) But based on how the other games in Hoyo are performing, I'm pretty sure they won't be going bankrupt soon. Actually while writing I just thought of this point. Most of the revenue that Mihoyo get from Tot is not from in-game purchases like genshin/hsr but instead merch. So I think mihoyo is trying to shift some of the people who can spend thousands of dollars buying the same merch into spending thousands of dollars in the game so they can actually get more 'response' from the male leads themselves instead of only on merch 🤔
i hate the fact that now you're facing this choice: you collect different cards (for example, now, if you get desired ssr card before pity, you can try your luck in acquiring the other male lead card to read another juicy story) or you spend everything you got on your fav in order to seize your chances to obtain as much doubles as possible. i feel like i'm being forced to give up on other boys. for example, my fav is luke and pulling for him is out of question, BUT i really was impressed and caught of guard with marius card, and i would love to get it also, but there is no way i can sacrifice like 500-700 pulls to get "adequate" number of sss cards to interact with both boys.
in my plan, i think I'm going to just collect the cards as usual and call it a day 😂 still win win for me at least they make a choice to pay more to get more but I'm a little bothered with the interaction personally so I'm fine either way, albeit it's a shame we wont get the namecard huhu

Im just wishing that they will have an additional way to earn extra dups instead of like pulling in the banner for it. An example would be having it available in the lawsuit exchange shop so we can trade for it like once every month. This way we are just time gated for like 5 months to get all interactions.

yea they should do that frr and imo, if they REALLY BADLY wanna keep the SSS card interactions exclusive, they can still do it by handing out 2 free levels for us f2ps (and unlocking it via lawsuit as OP said) and keep the other two levels "locked" for the ones who wanna spend extra money to get the complete, shiny set, ykwim? (I'm not 100% sure about everything that I'm saying its 4am over here atm😂 and ig i just wanna make it more fair for the high spenders who wants a complete SSS card which is a very rare item on its own- ...idk man) also note that in this way, I think even f2ps can save enough tears to be able to pull at least another level, a year later when the anniversary cards eventually gets a rerun

I quit this game because it's like super hard to continue with the story when you don't have cards that are great enough. Also, it's a struggle collecting tears as a free player. ALSO from 10 pull you get only mid stuff

I have a few things to say about it tbh… At first it sounds like a massive annoyance, having to invest so much to get the full experience of the cards, but at the same time ( this might just be me being optimistic ) so long as the story content of the cards is good, I would still pull for them. Just once though sacrificing my chance at the whole package.

Ngl, I was thinking the same xD Because I noticed that the Hoyofest this year was significantly kinda like downgraded a lot. Compared to the 2nd year, where ToT have several tons of merch, this year they only have 4 and 5 if combined with the special 3rd Hoyofest merch. Plus Hoyofest this year, looks like all the games will be combined like a bazaar, unlike last years where Genshin, Honkai 3rd and ToT have separate cafe events... Quite disappointed for this year, but since the place is near mine, I would still go nonetheless :')
Got word from a player in the CN server on twitter. To get the full experience (5 copied to unlock everything) will come out to about 90,000 s-chips or so.

For something like the anniversary banner, I was willing to spend a little on discount packages to make sure I got each ML's card, but there is no way I could/would try for 20 cards! And of course I would want to be able to unlock all the features. So, I'm not sure what I would do when it reaches the global server. Maybe just not pull so I don't make myself crazy?
Wow, i feel really bad for the other server players :( global players have a year to save up for these cards (and even then i'm not sure if it will be enough to get everything) but everyone else just has to go with what they have now. I really hope they dont continue this pattern, or else tot will be even more unpopular..

Having to get 5 copies of a card for all interactions is ridiculous! That should be level based. If they want to make it harder to level these cards then so be it, at least it’s just grinding compared to 100s of dollars. It feels like they’re trying to incentivize maxing out cards like they do in their other games, since a lot of ToT fans don’t really care about maxing out cards for strength, they’re now hiding a lot of this new interaction feature behind it. I can understand why a longer story and interactive card would have more prestige behind it, but this feels excessive. A feature of the card AND name cards being hidden behind whaling is a huge step to take on what should be a celebration of the user base (an anniversary!!!!)

This makes me sad, for the last two anniversaries It took me everything plus a little money just to get 1 Marius SSR on my 100th pull and after that I wasn't able to get Artem's cards because it took everything to get Marius, now I have to skip everything else just to have a shot at the complete Marius SSS card?? Yikes... I know the community will probably backlash, but given Hoyoverse's previous reactions when it comes to Genshin's anniversary and the backlash from that, I don't see them changing much as far as how much they want you to spend. I don't have much hope for any change when the banner reaches Global... The only thing that's going to make them change is hitting them in the pocket book, but that'll require all three communities to stop spending money.
This is so disappointing. I'm not at all f2p. I buy monthlies and Reveries and the occasional outfit and invitation. Only for anniversary (which happens to be my birth month) did I spend enough to get a top up SSR - and that was by accident. I just wanted some of the invitations and outfits. This makes it impossible to fully enjoy the card. It's already so rare to get a duplicate ssr and now we need 5??? For one male lead?? Can you finish the story at all without the duplicates? I'd be willing to accept that I can't fully enjoy the interactive features of the card as long as I can get the full story. I'd rather pull once for 2 male leads than twice for one - even if it IS luke.

As a f2p player all the excitement I had yesterday watching the cards has faded. Don't get me wrong, I think they are very good cards, and I'll throw what I have for some of them (take them out and that's it because I wouldn't have to throw the other for 3 years), but that the new mechanics are behind a paywall, I would have preferred that they had not taken out the SSS and we continue with the SSR. It's just that even for a player who puts money in it also discourages. Because 500 runs to get the card with all the interactions is a lot of money and if you want all of them, guaranteed, it would be about 2000 runs. As far as I know, people on the NC server are complaining. I don't have much hope that something will be achieved because with games like genshin impact that are more popular, they are also stingy and greedy and they haven't changed much with everything that was messed up on their first anniversary. I think the fairest thing would be that the gift III would be given with the different events of the game, that they give one per event, this way whoever pays will have all the interactions before and whoever puts little or no money will be able to unlock them with patience.
i’ve would have much rather ed have another spicy ssr like this year (last year cn) with rosa included in the frame rather than have this (WHICH DONT GET ME WRONG ITS AMAZING AND WOW THEY ARE SKSJJSJSSJ) which is mostly locked behind payed content. You need to start saving asap if you want all the cards interactions and miss most banners..
I unfortunately have spent a little to much on this game, especially compared to Genshin and HSR, so I’d hate it if I end up leaving the game because of this complicated, costly feature. After saving and skipping banners, I still couldn’t get the cards I wanted from the 2nd anniversary banners without spending a little ;/ Maybe whenever they send the surveys, we could express that concern in hopes for a change for the global release? Because I agree with the other comments. Eventually, they’ll lose more players rather than gain new ones or retain current players if it’s more costly or difficult to enjoy game content without spending. I personally don’t like games that require purchases to unlock everything including main story content. Extras, I understand, but otome games that required using a certain currency to unlock more chapters/features and the only way to acquire them was by spending real money? No thanks. I’ll try to remember voicing my concerns on the surveys (it’s odd how they send those less frequently for ToT in comparison to Genshin and HSR which is often during every 1-2 events). I'm not so concerned about the interactions. It's like C6ing a 5-star in Genshin. Great QOL upgrade, but im sure one copy is actually plenty good! Also tbh I'd probably keep the card on the first side (the cute side). Don't like how theyre being greedy with the Keepsake though :(
Global server player here and I'm really scared this is the direction that mihoyo is going with ToT. If they raise the pulling chance for an SSS card from 0.8% to a higher chance say 1.0% < then maybe I will consider getting multiple copies. but pulling for 5 copies of the same card just to unlock a short(?) interaction with the ML doesn't seem like you'll get your money's worth. Now, if there was another hour or two of context hidden in the interactions then maybeee. But that's still so expensive just to unlock 😢 especially when you want to get all 4 of the cards too like I do!!! 100 pulls for one card x 5 x 4 = 2000 pulls. To me this seems like they're just pushing you to pick one ml and keep pulling for him...
I don't really think hoyoverse is going bankrupt but I think this might be a similar situation to that other game where the player count was so low and it didn't make that much money globally that they decided to shut down the global servers and keep up the cn server

The art is impeccable for this game but it’s kinda boring. I quit because I can’t login and speedrun the event on the last day they really force you to login every day. And you can’t finish all the dailys from max stamina either. In energy efficiency under hoyoverse this game is the least efficient. I wonder if they do need money, the team looks way smaller n the content simple too to have a large team behind it. Even i as a casual spent already abt 4-500 over the years including monthly stuff. The chinese n japanese audience probably spends even more. I think the main reason is not to encourage MORE spending but to maintain the same lvl of spending. So yes i also think the fights will be harder. One other way to motivate spending is to make it a bit spicier. Some MRs n 2nd anniv were the only spicy cards n people lost their minds.

With the new changes and how greedier they are getting, I'm glad I stopped after the 1st anniversary. I used to spend a lot on ToT and I considered the story of the boys "finished" in my brain once I read the 1st anniversaries. I think the changes are absolutely ridiculous and even with the update to the backlash, it'll only be a matter of time before they implement more dumb things to get more money. Sad to see. 😢

While this really sucks, this won't change much for me... I generally only have enough pulls for one card anyway. Still shitty behavior from Hoyo, I'd rather they up the hard pity than whatever this is.
I am a player who is playing in the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau server,as a male player I actually don't quite care about the interaction system but I do think that getting 5 cards to unlock the complete version of 1 card is too ridiculous. btw I am a bit disappointed that rosa isn't in the second part of the cards
Rosa usually only appears in 1 out of the 2 parts so she is still there in part 1~ tho I would like to see the interaction of the "sexy" with rosa in it as well hehe
We can use s-chips to convert into event tears but not limited tears. Note: after event ends, event tears will be convert to normal tears but limited tears will be converted into stellins. So it's actually to protect our schip value
Why would they give players a FRAGMENTED ANNIVERSARY!?!?!?!? not only is it harder to get the card but the namecard, keepsake, badge (?), and interactions are all locked behind money??? Come on, if they wanted to get money, they coul've gotten in in a hundred more ways... not this way. So disappointing.
they're sure getting greedier and greedier. still, i have no intention to give in and spend on a f-ing game. if necessary i'll skip 3rd anniversary altogether.

You cant say Mihoyo of all companies is going bankrupt when they have their Genshin and HSR cash cows. They are just becoming greedy and business oriented like every game studio eventually becomes once they get success.
I'll admit i wasnt expecting the interaction feature to be easily accessible and had a feeling there would be some disappointing catch to it but having to get 5 copies is insane. Not only the high paywall but also that you can only focus on one ML card as an f2p or small spender who starts saving some months prior (Im Artem stan so i usually start saving for his birthday and anni from February after Valentine's day cards, then i go for Luke anni after him). Idk this isnt really my thing but nothing can be done i suppose

It's really not surprising since Mihoyo has always been this way. A lot of their controversies (specifically from genshin) derive from profit oriented decisions, and being apathetic towards their consumers.
and yeah, with the major success of HSR, and Genshin, it's an absurd decision to put such a pay wall on TOT. It's just.... disappointing.
Perhaps they're trying to turn TOT in 'cash cow' like their other games...
International server player here. Feel like our current 2nd anniversary banner is way friendlier at this point. At least I don't have to empty my bank account for the one card I really want. This is definitely a new way for Mihoyo to encourage players to spend money. >< I might actually not consider pulling for this banner next year and will save my items for other banners.
Same, as someone who plays both CN & global server, I would say the 2nd anniversary are much friendlier as you can immediately get the badge and ring after completing the story part
I was pretty livid about the system as I am a f2p on CN and they made it even difficult for me (My gacha luck is pretty inconsistent and really limited resources) 😡😑😤
I might as well save up for the all servers event MR that will be release somewhere in August if they don’t change the system for this event
Quite dissapointed in this whole SSS system and 3rd anniversary, I hope they get plenty of backlash for this because it's honestly very greedy for no reason. I understand that ToT doesn't make as much as Genshin and Star Rail, but locking everything behind dupe levels is just too much. If we could exchange Gift 1 to Gift 2 and Gift 3 then it would at least be a little better (I mean, I have 300k Gift 1 and nothing to use it on)
Uhh this seems so difficult to raise enough s chips for this event. Especially since anniversary is the biggest event for ToT (well at least in my opinion), so it's disappointing that they make it this difficult to to get the reward

I guess they wanna include "constellations" for TOT similar to what they have done in Genshin and HSR. Honestly not surprised but still kinda sad for F2P players
It’s even worse cause all constellations do is add power and maybe qol but with this system you’re locked off from the mechanic they designed as a new ‘upgrade’
The thing with constellations is that they provide upgrades that are worth the money since it enhances the gameplay to a certain extent. Imo having to unlock interactions should already have been a core feature of the cards, since there's already an illustration for it. I'm not sure how much value it adds to this SSS system, when each level of interaction is locked behind a significant paywall (100 pulls max just to upgrade 1/5 levels of interactions). ToT never felt like a F2P game, but this decision makes it even LESS F2P friendly at this stage. To add fuel to fire, the banners only last for 20 days. At least in Genshin and HSR we're given more time to grind due to the banner durations, plus they are way more generous with their currencies.
It’s amazing how quickly my hype dissolved 💀 I used to be a monthly/occasional pack spender but these decisions actually make me even more glad I stopped giving them my money. It’s already so incredibly expensive to get even one SSR if your luck is bad, let alone this? I expected the SSS cards to be more expensive, but this is way worse than I imagined, especially given how stingey the game already is in giving out f2p s-chips compared to games like genshin/star rail (so far). Massive yikes. Hoping to see a change in this, it’s sad to see a game like this that I’ve loved going down this path 😬
So to add it all up, if you want all the cards and all the interactions you would need to make 2000 pulls, which equals 360,000 S-Chips. If you wanted to have enough for this on global next year that means we will need to start saving 1,000 chips a day. That’s actually insane!!!

Gosh, I started noticing the level of money-hungry of Hoyolabs when they released the special consultation card for Artem (the one he’s a pilot) and now you had to spend waaaay more s-chips than you had before (because it was imposible to get the card if you followed the 3 cases per day with one lawsuit). It made me so mad that I drop the game until just a few days ago that I started playing.

About the card... Thats disappointing... I was expecting it not being easy to get, but... That's pretty abusive IMO. Literally shows us that ToT department don't really care Abt the players, and that's sad. I really love ToT, but, from a long time now, I've been frustrated at how hard it is to collect cards and being encouraged to become a p2w. Welp, greediness at its finest!

For anniversary I like getting cards of all 4 male leads, if I wanted to get just one card then it's possible to get all interactions but you have to collect schips everyday and not pull for anything else.
It's sad, so if nothing changes for global players then I will just forget about interactions 😔 at least they didn't lock up the story of cards with paywall
Yeah i agreed. At least they still guarantee to get the card in 100 pity and won't reset the pity too if we get another card. Story is 6 part too. I will just hope for whale player to upload the interaction on youtube😂😂😂😂

I really hope they change this condition and that players can unite to make this change happen because this is simply ridiculous ... I'm someone who doesn't play the game all the time, I sometimes don't log in for a few weeks, so even getting one SSR card is super super rare for me so this? I feel like out of all of their games, ToT is the most ridiculously overpriced one.

In my opinion, this is really stupid for f2p players like me, who can’t afford to get five copies of one single card.. just doing normal dailies and stuff gets you only around 200pulls a year so it is impossible to get all of the copies in one year…(correct me if im wrong)

Not sure about 200 pulls, I was doing dailies and events since the 1st anniversary and until now I had like 400+ pulls and if count the times when I pulled for 2 cards it's around 500+ pulls

Based on this, we get ard 9k s-chips a month which is 600 tears for 1 year. Which means we can just get 5 copies of 1 ML + his bday card for that year if u are very unlucky and reach all at hard pity 😕

The game is best for players who are already working or are rich. Too cruel for players who cannot spend money. But I will still support the game with real money no matter what. At least this is one of the best otome app games that I have ever played! 💗
As a f2p who had reached hard pity thrice in the anniv banner now, I will excuse myself and sob in a corner. I admit that they are encouraging player to spend more money but for me personally, I don't think it's that bad? You only need to spend if u desire to get more interactions right? Me personally will be happy even with just getting the card lmao😂 so base card for me will be totally fine. Technically it's quite the same with SSR, just that to unlock more interactions, u need to pull for more copies which may lead to more spending but if u're happy with just getting the card (like me), I don't think it makes much difference. As long as I can read the card story (which is the most important to me) I am happy :D. For the namecards, yeah it is quite unfortunate but I'm not really a namecard collector so I don't really mind about that. Anyway that's just my opinion ^^. People in different shoes may think differently tho and that's fine.

Like in 2nd anniversary, we get the rings (badge) for free and namecard at cumulative draws. But 3rd anniv, the key(badge) no longer free but need cumulative draws, namecard become need to upgrade 2 stars. While I am happy for the interactions, they really push a lot of benefits away. Moreover, the rate for the cards has also been reduce from 1% to 0.8% making it harder to get the SSS card. I feel like I rather they not change anything and maybe release interactions as paid items 😔

Iirc after love poem to skadi hoyo changed how the banner operated which actually resulted in backlash from the CN community. But now players grew to sort of accept it? (I was actually not that sad cuz I didn't manage to get Artem's card and instead 2 Marius after draining my s-chips (was f2p back then cuz I was still not eligible to apply for a debit card))
Ngl this is giving me vibes like the l&n hooha that happened not long ago, though I understand that indeed the 氪佬 players are the ones providing the revenue to the game and company but that doesn't mean that the 微氪 and f2p players aren't given a chance to obtain sort of the same rewards.
Tbh they could have made the interactive part grindable for players who (me as well) unable to afford to gacha 5 copies in one period.
(I'm not very sure if my comparison is an acceptable one but they just give me the same feeling towards this issue)
But based on how the other games in Hoyo are performing, I'm pretty sure they won't be going bankrupt soon.
Actually while writing I just thought of this point. Most of the revenue that Mihoyo get from Tot is not from in-game purchases like genshin/hsr but instead merch. So I think mihoyo is trying to shift some of the people who can spend thousands of dollars buying the same merch into spending thousands of dollars in the game so they can actually get more 'response' from the male leads themselves instead of only on merch 🤔

Nah I think it’s pretty well written and shows logical reasoning, it’s pretty valid and yeah, needing to pull an additional 4 times kinda sucks
i hate the fact that now you're facing this choice: you collect different cards (for example, now, if you get desired ssr card before pity, you can try your luck in acquiring the other male lead card to read another juicy story) or you spend everything you got on your fav in order to seize your chances to obtain as much doubles as possible. i feel like i'm being forced to give up on other boys.
for example, my fav is luke and pulling for him is out of question, BUT i really was impressed and caught of guard with marius card, and i would love to get it also, but there is no way i can sacrifice like 500-700 pulls to get "adequate" number of sss cards to interact with both boys.

Im just wishing that they will have an additional way to earn extra dups instead of like pulling in the banner for it.
An example would be having it available in the lawsuit exchange shop so we can trade for it like once every month. This way we are just time gated for like 5 months to get all interactions.

yea they should do that frr and imo, if they REALLY BADLY wanna keep the SSS card interactions exclusive, they can still do it by handing out 2 free levels for us f2ps (and unlocking it via lawsuit as OP said) and keep the other two levels "locked" for the ones who wanna spend extra money to get the complete, shiny set, ykwim?
(I'm not 100% sure about everything that I'm saying its 4am over here atm😂 and ig i just wanna make it more fair for the high spenders who wants a complete SSS card which is a very rare item on its own- ...idk man)
also note that in this way, I think even f2ps can save enough tears to be able to pull at least another level, a year later when the anniversary cards eventually gets a rerun

I quit this game because it's like super hard to continue with the story when you don't have cards that are great enough. Also, it's a struggle collecting tears as a free player. ALSO from 10 pull you get only mid stuff

thats literally insane lmao, I just would go for getting 1 SSS of my fav but nothing else. I used to try and diversify or get more than one but I just give up now. I paid some money back in the first 6 months playing when it was cheaper but I wouldnt bother now. I just save between cards I want of Artem
I have a few things to say about it tbh… At first it sounds like a massive annoyance, having to invest so much to get the full experience of the cards, but at the same time ( this might just be me being optimistic ) so long as the story content of the cards is good, I would still pull for them. Just once though sacrificing my chance at the whole package.

Ngl, I was thinking the same xD Because I noticed that the Hoyofest this year was significantly kinda like downgraded a lot.
Compared to the 2nd year, where ToT have several tons of merch, this year they only have 4 and 5 if combined with the special 3rd Hoyofest merch.
Plus Hoyofest this year, looks like all the games will be combined like a bazaar, unlike last years where Genshin, Honkai 3rd and ToT have separate cafe events...
Quite disappointed for this year, but since the place is near mine, I would still go nonetheless :')

For something like the anniversary banner, I was willing to spend a little on discount packages to make sure I got each ML's card, but there is no way I could/would try for 20 cards! And of course I would want to be able to unlock all the features. So, I'm not sure what I would do when it reaches the global server. Maybe just not pull so I don't make myself crazy?

Wow, i feel really bad for the other server players :( global players have a year to save up for these cards (and even then i'm not sure if it will be enough to get everything) but everyone else just has to go with what they have now. I really hope they dont continue this pattern, or else tot will be even more unpopular..

Having to get 5 copies of a card for all interactions is ridiculous! That should be level based. If they want to make it harder to level these cards then so be it, at least it’s just grinding compared to 100s of dollars.
It feels like they’re trying to incentivize maxing out cards like they do in their other games, since a lot of ToT fans don’t really care about maxing out cards for strength, they’re now hiding a lot of this new interaction feature behind it.
I can understand why a longer story and interactive card would have more prestige behind it, but this feels excessive. A feature of the card AND name cards being hidden behind whaling is a huge step to take on what should be a celebration of the user base (an anniversary!!!!)
All this AND it's a 50/50 btw. HELL NAW. Not worth THAT much money. I'll maybe get the card once or I'll look it up on UA-cam 💔

This makes me sad, for the last two anniversaries It took me everything plus a little money just to get 1 Marius SSR on my 100th pull and after that I wasn't able to get Artem's cards because it took everything to get Marius, now I have to skip everything else just to have a shot at the complete Marius SSS card?? Yikes...
I know the community will probably backlash, but given Hoyoverse's previous reactions when it comes to Genshin's anniversary and the backlash from that, I don't see them changing much as far as how much they want you to spend. I don't have much hope for any change when the banner reaches Global... The only thing that's going to make them change is hitting them in the pocket book, but that'll require all three communities to stop spending money.

This is so disappointing. I'm not at all f2p. I buy monthlies and Reveries and the occasional outfit and invitation. Only for anniversary (which happens to be my birth month) did I spend enough to get a top up SSR - and that was by accident. I just wanted some of the invitations and outfits. This makes it impossible to fully enjoy the card. It's already so rare to get a duplicate ssr and now we need 5??? For one male lead??
Can you finish the story at all without the duplicates? I'd be willing to accept that I can't fully enjoy the interactive features of the card as long as I can get the full story. I'd rather pull once for 2 male leads than twice for one - even if it IS luke.
From what’s said at the start the story is unlocked with the initial card and the interactions are the one that’s locked behind extra copies
@@jing6092 thanks for the clarification. I think I was too overwhelmed with rage and disappointment that I missed that part. That's something I can live with, I think. At least it's just a bonus. I would definitely rage along with everybody if they decide to lock the story behind a paywall.
As a f2p player all the excitement I had yesterday watching the cards has faded. Don't get me wrong, I think they are very good cards, and I'll throw what I have for some of them (take them out and that's it because I wouldn't have to throw the other for 3 years), but that the new mechanics are behind a paywall, I would have preferred that they had not taken out the SSS and we continue with the SSR.
It's just that even for a player who puts money in it also discourages. Because 500 runs to get the card with all the interactions is a lot of money and if you want all of them, guaranteed, it would be about 2000 runs.
As far as I know, people on the NC server are complaining. I don't have much hope that something will be achieved because with games like genshin impact that are more popular, they are also stingy and greedy and they haven't changed much with everything that was messed up on their first anniversary.
I think the fairest thing would be that the gift III would be given with the different events of the game, that they give one per event, this way whoever pays will have all the interactions before and whoever puts little or no money will be able to unlock them with patience.
i’ve would have much rather ed have another spicy ssr like this year (last year cn) with rosa included in the frame rather than have this (WHICH DONT GET ME WRONG ITS AMAZING AND WOW THEY ARE SKSJJSJSSJ) which is mostly locked behind payed content. You need to start saving asap if you want all the cards interactions and miss most banners..

I unfortunately have spent a little to much on this game, especially compared to Genshin and HSR, so I’d hate it if I end up leaving the game because of this complicated, costly feature. After saving and skipping banners, I still couldn’t get the cards I wanted from the 2nd anniversary banners without spending a little ;/
Maybe whenever they send the surveys, we could express that concern in hopes for a change for the global release? Because I agree with the other comments. Eventually, they’ll lose more players rather than gain new ones or retain current players if it’s more costly or difficult to enjoy game content without spending. I personally don’t like games that require purchases to unlock everything including main story content. Extras, I understand, but otome games that required using a certain currency to unlock more chapters/features and the only way to acquire them was by spending real money? No thanks. I’ll try to remember voicing my concerns on the surveys (it’s odd how they send those less frequently for ToT in comparison to Genshin and HSR which is often during every 1-2 events).

I'm not so concerned about the interactions. It's like C6ing a 5-star in Genshin. Great QOL upgrade, but im sure one copy is actually plenty good! Also tbh I'd probably keep the card on the first side (the cute side). Don't like how theyre being greedy with the Keepsake though :(

If they raise the pulling chance for an SSS card from 0.8% to a higher chance say 1.0% < then maybe I will consider getting multiple copies. but pulling for 5 copies of the same card just to unlock a short(?) interaction with the ML doesn't seem like you'll get your money's worth. Now, if there was another hour or two of context hidden in the interactions then maybeee. But that's still so expensive just to unlock 😢 especially when you want to get all 4 of the cards too like I do!!! 100 pulls for one card x 5 x 4 = 2000 pulls. To me this seems like they're just pushing you to pick one ml and keep pulling for him...
I don't really think hoyoverse is going bankrupt but I think this might be a similar situation to that other game where the player count was so low and it didn't make that much money globally that they decided to shut down the global servers and keep up the cn server

The art is impeccable for this game but it’s kinda boring. I quit because I can’t login and speedrun the event on the last day they really force you to login every day. And you can’t finish all the dailys from max stamina either. In energy efficiency under hoyoverse this game is the least efficient. I wonder if they do need money, the team looks way smaller n the content simple too to have a large team behind it. Even i as a casual spent already abt 4-500 over the years including monthly stuff. The chinese n japanese audience probably spends even more. I think the main reason is not to encourage MORE spending but to maintain the same lvl of spending. So yes i also think the fights will be harder. One other way to motivate spending is to make it a bit spicier. Some MRs n 2nd anniv were the only spicy cards n people lost their minds.

With the new changes and how greedier they are getting, I'm glad I stopped after the 1st anniversary. I used to spend a lot on ToT and I considered the story of the boys "finished" in my brain once I read the 1st anniversaries. I think the changes are absolutely ridiculous and even with the update to the backlash, it'll only be a matter of time before they implement more dumb things to get more money. Sad to see. 😢

I'm already planning to buy Artem top up for 3rd year anni and also the invitation and i was so excited for the SSS card but damn definitely i have to skip the SSS....its so frustrating cuz we all know it's gonna be expensive but not THIS expensive... and the rewards are only cosmetics... If they want to us to spend more they should give more lucrative rewards and lower pity for instance.. Its so very unfair and I'm a small spender and I only buy during anniversary... even if I'm crazy rich spending that much for a card is so wasteful lmao I guess even if I pull I'll just be satisfied for the basic interaction only.. I am a player who is playing in the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau server,as a male player I actually don't quite care about the interaction system but I do think that getting 5 cards to unlock the complete version of 1 card is too ridiculous. btw I am a bit disappointed that rosa isn't in the second part of the cards
Rosa usually only appears in 1 out of the 2 parts so she is still there in part 1~ tho I would like to see the interaction of the "sexy" with rosa in it as well hehe

We can use s-chips to convert into event tears but not limited tears.
Note: after event ends, event tears will be convert to normal tears but limited tears will be converted into stellins. So it's actually to protect our schip value

Why would they give players a FRAGMENTED ANNIVERSARY!?!?!?!? not only is it harder to get the card but the namecard, keepsake, badge (?), and interactions are all locked behind money??? Come on, if they wanted to get money, they coul've gotten in in a hundred more ways... not this way. So disappointing.
