Dear Sir Asslam o Alaikum.I am from Pakistan and I had done my Advanced Diploma Of Multimedia from Limkokwing University Of Creative Technology Malaysia.I am very much comfortable with Malay and Indonesian accent of English, as many of my teachers and friends were Malays and Indonesian there. So happy to see your channel.I hope I will learn alot also from you.
+Ricon Water Hi Ricon, I've been teaching CG for 15 years but I'm not a "professor" as in academic title :) I take your word as a compliment though. Thank you for watching and I hope they are beneficial.
I am amazed by how clear you explain things. Lately, I was checking out some tutorials at Pluralsight etc., and most of them are much lower quality. Thank you, and I am looking forward to seeing more tutorials from you
excellent tut thank you you are an excellent teacher. I found that you need to have "enable axis constraints" on in the tools tab in the Grid and snap settings dialog to get the star to snap align in the 3rd example.
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, there are many on youtube on the same theme, yours is explained quite well. The problem is that nobody solves the deformation that is on the surface once it has been perforated. Once the render is launched there are so many ripples around the hole, is there any way to make a hole on a curved surface without compromising the initial geometry and without manually intervening on the vertices?
You can use power boolean but it will basically re-mesh your 3d model so the topology will change meaning it will have more polygons compared to the original. For archviz or animation projects this is usually acceptable. But for game development (where we have limited budget of poly counts) most of the time this is not acceptable.
Thanks for the reply. Using Proboolean the problem remains, even worse! I tried to subtract two cylinders of different diameters, one perpendicular to the other as two tubes that are inserted with a "T", or a cylinder subtracted from a sphere, when I start rendering the surface is filled with folds and becomes unmanageable, I can not to believe how a software like 3ds max can not execute a simple hole in a curved surface in a simpler way!
Thank you for the comment Naresh. I was using the new youtube studio beta and unfortunately it still has may bugs. I already reply your comment like a week ago but apparently it didn't publish :(. I just switch back to the classic version.
Hi Laura. I believe Boolean is a new-object operation in 3ds Max, not a modifier. So after you do Boolean you then need to re-apply the symmetry modifier.
Hi johnny. All of the examples in the video create holes only on one side. Not through the object. Can you explain in more detail about what you are trying to achieve? Perhaps some link to image reference
+Mari Muthu Its in the modify panel if you have editable poly object selected. Find a panel called subdivision surface, you'll find "use NURMS subdivision" and there is an "iteration" value you can change. Please don't drag that value as it will crash 3ds max. Just increase it to 2 or 3 at max.
+Mari Muthu hi Mari I think the main problem is that the tutorial was intended for intermediate users who already know the basic stuff in 3ds max such as turning on subdivision (NURMS). if you want to learn 3ds Max from the very basic, step by step I recommend you to join my udemy course. You can follow this link to get 50% discount: www.udemy.com/3d-visualization-for-beginners/?couponCode=NewPromo-Q2-2016 I hope this course will help you greatly so you can master 3ds Max much faster.
in method 3, after delete surface and make hold success, i can't merge 2 part. I'm cover to edit poly then attach 2 part, it's ok, but when i try UVW unwrap, i can't make seam :((
Hi yassine. I'm not sure I understand what you mean :) perhaps what you mean is "tutorials"? Or I said something that sound like "turtles" in the video ha ha ha. I'm not english spoken person natively :D. You can turn on the cc/subtitle, it should make things more clear in sha Allah. I type all of the transcript my self, not automatically generated by UA-cam.
I realize this is from 2015, but it's still so relevant! Excellent tutorial. You'd be one of my favorite teachers for sure.

Hi Vad. Actually. Several years ago I applied to become an instructor there. But they refused my offer because of my accent :D
@@exposeacademy OMG :(
Hi. the second one helped me. Thank you
Excellent tutorial! These simple exampled answered questions to many problems, like how to put text on the surface of an object.
Hi Jim. Thank you for commenting on my channel :)
i was trying to understand this very particular feature for a very long time now and thanks to you i understand now
You're welcome Diksha :)
This is awesome and just what I was looking for! Thanks
بارك الله فيك يا اخي
God bless you my brother

Thank you so much for sharing this. It was well worth more than 8 minutes!
Hi Shinji, thank you for commenting on my channel. Glad that the video is useful to others.

assalamu alaikum,, trima kasih mas widhi atas tutorialnya, sangat membantu banget...
+Jamz Sabdian waalaikumussalam sama2 mas
Thank you very much :)
How do you use the cut with a cookie cutter on a symmetry object? I can't seem to be able to make holes on both sides of the symmetric components.

terima kasih pak, sangat bermanfaat..
sama-sama mas satria. terima kasih sudah komentar di channel saya
hello . How create a hole in a curve objetc only in one side Without drilling from side to side ? Thanks

HOW about make a many hole? if there already a hole?
Basically the same process applies
1st option in plane make circle hole.. that nurms setting value is not shown..its taking automatically assign value

make sure the surface is not flipped
