I dont think most of y'all understand that Christina was THAT CHICK waaaay before your favs started taking vocal lessons to obtain the mastery she already had learned through influences from Etta, Whitney, Mariah, Michael Jackson, Julie Andrews and 90s R&B. After Back To Basics her pop career took a hit trying to "have fun" like the other pop girls and she lost a bit of substance. So, I hope she returns back to the voice.
Please remember... Christina was no older than 19-20 at this point. I believe she was 18-19. At that age, she was craving her own lane it it was NOTHING that anyone else was doing at the time or at least nothing her peers did. I think people forget that.

Yes, she over sings and she overdoes it. But I love it and I live for it. The amount of power and emotion she is able to bring out with her voice is just insane. There are many perfect technical singers out there but how many are unforgettable like Xtina? She has her own unique way of singing and that once in a lifetime voice.

However, in her early career she was treated and told by music execs and I'am quite sure by other folks, "Show your range don't worry about technique." I have a few suggestions for videos for you to react to: I'm aware of the fact that you've already reacted to Mariah Carey's "O Come All Ye Faithful" that she performed with her mother Patricia Carey but there is a far more superior version of "O Come All Ye Faithful" that Mariah performed solo for the Obama's in TNT's 'Christmas in Washington' special. In the solo version Mariah is heavily pregnant and is wearing a red dress. She is onstage with a large choir and her vocals are INSANE! Her voice sounds almost exactly as it did in her prime - her falsetto is unbelievably gorgeous as always, her clarity, tone and melisma are all impressively on-point and her belts and resonance are simply magical. You ABSOLUTELY have to react to Mariah's solo "O Come All Ye Faithful." The second suggestion is also from the TNT 'Christmas in Washington' special. It is Mariah opening the show with a song she wrote herself titled "One Child." "One Child" is an incredibly brilliant song that sounds like an instant Christmas classic upon the very first listen. Again, Mariah's vocals are BEYOND INSANE! She almost sounds supernatural in nature - that's how unbelievable her voice is in that special. Lastly, I'm aware that you've already reacted to David Phelp's version of "O Holy Night" unfortunately since you weren't already familiar with him you ended up reacting to the wrong one! The version that I (and many others) would like you to react to is the one that is titled 'Bill & Gloria Gaither - O Holy Night featuring David Phelps.' This version is a billion times better than the version that you've already reacted to. I kid you not when I tell you that it's easily one of the greatest vocal performances in the HISTORY of our species. What David manages to accomplish with this performance is simply mind-boggling. To refer to this performance as a bonafide tour-de-force is in no way an understatement. His vocals in this version are beyond impeccable and virtually otherworldly - you will no doubt be extremely impressed and will end up regarding David as one of history's greatest vocalists. P.S. Keep singing because you are highly talented and possess a stunningly beautiful voice. Good luck in all of your future endeavors and I greatly look forward to your reactions to my 3 suggestions. I love her earlier work. She used her natural tone a lot more which made her voice sound a lot freer. It's beautiful. I prefer this over the distortion she uses so often now. It's like two different voices in my opinion. I also prefer the duet she did with Brian Mcknight over her later versions of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

I have to compare because her fans call her the VOICE of her generation. Noise pollution cannot be considered excellent. A strained voice is strained, that is not something that changes from one ear to the next.

Xtina's rendition pales in comparison to Lady Gaga's flawless rendition at the Oscars. Xtina sound painful.
I just don't understand her existence as 'vocalist' in music industry at all. She always gives bad singing example. Even her lower notes sound wobbly and throaty. If she can strain while talking, I bet she would do that too. I am confused this came from you.
