Ouvir um negro falando "Black is beautiful" mostra a importância de artistas como Baco, Racionais, Djonga, Kayuá e muitos outros, devolvendo a auto estima e o amor próprio que o colonialismo arrancou desse povo tão lindo e guerreiro. Isso só mostra o papel fundamental do rap na sociedade.

A cultura do black love no rap (pelo menos na cena americana) é bem cultuada e tanto rappers mainstream como Kendrick e J Cole como não tão famosos como Noname e Earl Sweatshirt abordam muito sobre esses temas, então eu acho que é bem fácil alguém de fora pegar a ideia do Bluesman, já que tem basicamente a mesma ideia (e o curta é muito bom por si só)

It's funny this movie made you think on Beyonce. In 2018, Bluesman won the Cannes Lion over Beyonce and Jay-Z (he shared the prize with the spectacular Gambino's 'This is America) The irony is because this album contains a song where Baco says "Everything is as confusing as my erotic dreams with Beyonce / Excuse me, Jay Z, I wanted to be you / my life is so boring, I wanna be rich"

Baco é maravilhoso! Além de ser brasileiro, é nordestino. Esse filme diz muito sobre ser negro e periférico no Brasil. É intenso. Forte. É de fato como Exú, não tenho palavras, só dá pra sentir.

Some fun facts: Baco made his way into national scene after a widely famous diss called Sulicidio, a song praising northeastern rap while roasting the Sao Paulo/Rio's rappers and their supremacy. Pretty much everything produced in Brazil after 2016 can be tracked back to Sulicidio.

@@akramvibez Esu itself is by far the best one, this song is all about he transcending his mortal form to became a sort of god ("I feel the gods are scared of me, I'm half man, half god and both are scared of me" or "the pain fades out when we see gods envy the men / the world is a child of our imagination / are we all gods or their creation?"),
Beyond that, in Imortais e Fatais, Baco's stream of consciousness goes from metaphysics to a more visceral, sexual thing ("[while] masturbating gorgeous women I preach 'love one another' ") wich became more clear in Te Amo Desgraça, his most known song and wich dictated his style in latter works, Bluesman included ("oral sex in my girl is my prayer" and my favorite line: "she lights a cigarrete, soaks us up in gasoline and asked 'am I your love or your Nero?")
This album is sooo thoughtful and poetic, I think to truly appreciate it you must be provided accurate subtitles (the same for Djonga (his entire work is a very similar "the kid who wanna be god" way, but also Racionais and and other largely recommended rappers). Baco Exu do Blues is a rapper and Bluesman it's the name of the album. This video was made for album release, the songs on the video are parts of album's tracks.
Exu spells like "ê-shoo" (ê has same sound of "ay" of "jay") - it is a divinity from Afrobrazilian religians such as Candomblé. That's why that drums sounds reminds you of Nigeria and Congo. African culture has a major influence over Brazil!!

The rapper from Bahia, Baco Exu do Blues, won the Grand Prix of the Cannes Lions festival, one of the most important in the advertising market, with the short film "Bluesman" from his eponymous album.The prize was awarded in the Entertainment for the Music category, which saw two winners in 2019 -- in addition to Baco's video, the praised and discussed "This is America" by rapper Childish Gambino, was also a winner. They won out over the "Apeshit" mega-production by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, filmed at the Louvre Museum.

Baco Exu do Blues is one guy. His name is inspired by the God of whine Baco, an Orisha (saint spirit of Candomble religion) called Exu and also by Blues.
Exu sounds like 'a shoe', but as a single word, not 'eksoo'.
