Im trying to learn lead guitar and how to solo. i know the pentatonic scale but i cant find good videos on how to solo and / or get out of the box any tips

Hi, learn guitar intervals, play pentatonic scale horizontally, play one pattern in different octaves etc. It's hard to advice in the comment 🙂 I dont know your guitar level but imho pentatonic boxes are not good for beginners. Most my students remember one and have problems with the rest... Instead try to locate root notes on all strings in this case is a note g and try play only root note and first interval from pentatonic which is minor third. Locate these two notes on all neck and play with them. Notes are repetitive, same notes appear in different places on the neck, Find them. Then you can add another interval from pentatonic which is perfect fourth ( i count from roont note) etc. You will discover some more intresting notes connections than in the box. Leave boxes for some faster runs etc for knowing the neck and notes better interval method is much better inmho. Hope it helps. Peter

I got a tip for you and even though it’s fairly simple this one simple riff from Black Sabbath on paranoid helped me get finger speed. I just practiced it and practiced and practiced till my fingers became much more nimble. The main verse in the beginning with the 4 notes at the end. I know it might sound ridiculous but for some reason practicing that and getting it and then going off on my own and trying the same technique backwards faster helped me so much. I look back on it like wow it was really that riff that made it easy for me. Hopefully it helps you too. I’ve been playing for over 20 plus years. And I can solo and play rhythm and now write my own music. All of it guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. I’m also self taught, haven’t really had lessons. The majority of what I have learned is by ear.

@@HakfkaOakfnqkd also, when you play the notes, listen to how they 'feel' with the music
In a lot of cases, if you play a note that sounds 'off', play the note next to it, ie: the one before or the one after and again, how doers that sound to your ear
doing this helps to train your ear as well as 'see' which notes work together
you will find, quite a few notes will work with the chord progression here
as in, you can play one note, bend it , shake it/tremelo, slide back and forth, strike down, pick up and 'hear how the notes sound/ring out'
I played one note to 'feel' the groove and slowly brought more notes into play
hopefully, you will 'feel' which notes sound/feel better than others
As an aside, when playing Gm, you can pick notes out of Bb major, F major and minor , C major , D minor Eb
just to add 'color and flavour'
Have fun most of all and enjoy the sounds
These are great tracks to jam to
