I'm not making it work anymore sad to say. It's literally not worth it. The low batch pay, insane delivery distance poor customer tips, the lying customers, and the cost of gas just put me over the edge with these apps. I've been off of them for a month. This was just a side hustle since I am a stay at home mom. I'm going to take my notary exam soon and transition to that as a new hustle.
Good luck on the exam. You will make a lot of money being a notary.
@@DimplesonDemand Hi How Are you Doing?
It's the lying ass customers and whack ass rating system for me! Like why would I accept an order, walk around finding/scanning, communicate through app, lines scanning, bagging delivering, stairs, parking, missing customers... i.e the bullshit 😩
That’s awesome! And it’s a side gig you have control over and can grow on your terms . 💜
I feel like they put it out there and see that someone is going to work it, so it must not be that bad. So for us it's taking advantage, but for someone it's more work for them. We can't win 🤦🏽♀️
Currently just got hired at a part time overnight job…about to go back to doing makeup and really pushing my business card. This will be my last week working these gig apps…I’M OVER IT
These companies are just stalling until all cars are driverless
Let's not forget how some items may not be available due to food shortages therefore which will effect a shopper's payout after all the refunds. Also some customers may have stopped using services like Instacart and Shipt because of the high prices on food because where I live I'd be lucky to see a batch every hour.
Hike of food prices instacart taking welfare yea that’s a major change since last year
You are saying what I think everyday ☺️
Triple batches for 13 dollar's shame on Instacart
lol
For me, I’m going on my 4th year of doing this FT ….. I’m not gonna lie, it has been tough. Some weeks worse than others, but I definitely HAVE to multi app, & I basically have to be out all day & night on the weekends.
Ughhh and who wants to be out all day?!
@@DimplesonDemand right! At least it’s only the weekends.. during the week is dead.
@Candice Elizabeth oh wow…
I think the multiple store orders should only be for the exact same customer, same delivery address, shopped from least perishable to most.
No batches should be for multiple customers, ever, even at the same store.
The customers are paying for personal service.
I 100% agree and the customers have no idea what is going on.
This would only work if the stores are close by; otherwise, we will be spending too much on gas. The personal service customers are paying does not trickle down to the driver doing all the work.
It would be nice if we could organize in every city and turn the apps off, especially instacart and Uber for 24 hours.
I wish we could.
Need it to be a week. 1 day does nothing but feed the $3 ridrs/orders to those who won't strike
Agree Dimples. I stopped Instacart in November as no batches available. I went on the app the last few nights just to check and nothing. One batch in 5 hours on a Saturday night. Ridiculous. Uber Eats app keeps saying lots of hungry diners. Ah no, not a one. And what’s this new thing of going to multiple stores? Dumb. What if you have food that will melt. This was a nice side job before all these changes. Waste of time now. Plus many stores are offering their own shop and delivery so I’m sure that’s cut out some of the batches.
Gig work was amazing before all these changes. Now it's a joke.
Im GLAD I GOT OUTTT!!!!
Thanks for the great content! My last order that I took was in April 2021. I am done until things change.
Good choice!
you're in my market...i definetely see your orders
Yea the orders suck.
I’m Getting My CDL License This Spring
Smart move!
I started doing these app Uber GRub hub door dash postmates briefly way back in 2016 until 2019 Instacart in particular was good at first because I knew areas to go and time of day doing it !! But I knew once more exclusive high quality restaurants had not renewed contract and fast food started doing Uber eats and doordash going out in suburbs it was over!! I started doing other gigs and going well for myself along with working from home it was never meant to be main source of income anyway. These companies are taking advantage but you also have to know economic climate food shortages inflation gas prices people are struggling financially! So it time move on to something else so need to make business decision as well
I agree I started working part time on Instacart 3 years ago and then mostly ship and since last year Spark too . I used to work strictly 9-4 and then Saturday mornings and made my goal easy. Now it’s much longer and although I like the preferred member feature with Shipt , have over 125 it’s also a curse because you feel obligated to shop a good tipping customers order Saturday night because you “just can’t let it go “ you become an on demand worker . I fell for it last night .. now I got 2 more great tippers I’ll do despite off schedule this morning because who knows if I get any orders tomorrow .. honestly it’s a trap and psychologically designed to be
I don’t know what makes these companies think they can do this , it should be illegal. The pay has got ridiculous. In fact I think Uber and insta are working together because there are similarities.
4.00 a gallon in Chicago
I need an electric car.
I am thinking an electric car would be a great investment also.
they take advantage because people allow it!
True
It’s pretty dead in my area. I’m pretty sure I’m going back to the corporate world soon. I never really intended to be a full time gig worker but I had already stopped working full time in the corporate world for other reasons and after months of already not working at all I thought maybe this would be an alternative where I could make my own schedule and be available for my kids but I see it’s really not.
Me too lol I just got a part time job now
😊
Hi! I live in Central California and it is so slow here! I work “full time” and usually do less than 20 hours a week. Fortunately, my bills are minimal and I can manage. I DO wish I’d saved more in the beginning, when I was doing 35 -45 hours a week. I hope things will get better for all of you!
Thanks for sharing!! I miss the good old days of good work.
Yup that’s why I’m finna go back to a 9-5 cause I’m done
I appreciate your videos Dimples. You're so articulate in your videos. It's refreshing. Also, I feel bad for people who do this work full time and for those who do it to hustle. Inflation is killing the game!
You are soo smart and hard working. You could make much more doing anything else. 👍
☺️
Please make more videos!:)
I definitely agree. I normally work Flex as a side gig outside of my full time job, but I have given it a break. Gas prices, food, and other things have increased and I refuse to work for pennies
Dimples play the long game with these apps. Go out until you hit 27 dollars. If you work 7 days a week. That 27 a day will turn into 10k. by the end of the year. You don’t have to burn a whole bunch of gas and you are only out for 1.5 max. Then you have a nice chunk of change to invest etc.. Plus you only have to do one app. Rinse and repeat.!👍
Order for $1.50???!!! OMG
I been feeling like that to sis
How have you been?
And they have so many new people
I just started spark n grub hub but sis I may just get another full time job I always keep a real job anyway
Since everybody taking ebt it’s been crazy
A full time job is a must IMO.
I think it’s two factors in this. Markets are over saturated now and there are so many more drivers out here than last year and the apps know this, that’s why there are offering so low money for a job. Like you said people are actually taking these orders and i get it, you have to do what you have to do but your right. Most of the time it’s not even worth it. I use to make 100 dollars in 4 hours just last year and now you have to work twice as long to get it. It’s almost crazy if you think about it. I drive a Nissan Pathfinder and it takes 67 dollars for me to fill up in the Philly area. Last year i really didn’t care about break even points and things like that but now i pay close attention and should have the whole time. I look at dollars per mile, break evens and all that. I gotta be smarter with the orders i take. Time to find a new hustle
True, the excitement is not there anymore, I do IC probably 1 or 2x a month, I will turn on the app to see if I get a good one same with UE. I work part time as a caregiver and part time substitute Paraeducator most of the time , before it was the other way around and it used to be so much to go to work.
I stopped all restaurants gigs. I am Shipt 7 days a week. Has anyone ever tell you that Marsai Martin resembles you😇?
You have no idea how often I hear that we look alike 😂
How are you doing with Shipt
A lot has changed from last year to this year. I do work six hours a day Monday through Friday with another job. I still work Instacart 5 to 7 days depending on what I need for the week. It’s demoralizing but I got used to the money so quick and so fast it’s sad I am picky about my orders 😢
Good to see you ❤️
Hey hey!
I “multi-app,” and I stay out late hours, doing Lyft.
The shop multiple stores is strange because it alerts me of the same store, extra customer but the order is very very small like 3 things
They try to add 25 item orders into an order for 5 items. It's so unfair to customers who only need a couple of items and they need them in a hurry. Plus, the shopper doesn't get the payoff, IC does.
Customers need to know they're being ripped off.
Very strange. I had an offer to go to Aldi's and Dick's Sport store. Those two stores don't even go together! and to top it off, it wasn't going to the same customer.
It's unfair to the customer.
I love your videos!! Keep on Trucking!! 💐💐
Thank you!!
@@DimplesonDemand 💐💐🇺🇸🇺🇸💐💐
It's up and down for me. Yesterday I got lucky and grabbed an 84 dollar single batch and I made 92 on gh.
I thought it was just Chicago
It seems like everyone is feeling it.
Do you remember when you and T did a series of videos together last year? And you had a guest on your show who was doing the gigs full time, and he seemed to be trying to convince you to give up your W2 and do the gigs full time? I’m so happy you didn’t listen to him (because truthfully he made no sense). I wonder where he is now and how he’s doing and I hope others who are doing it full time are okay.
Good memory Halima. Oh I remember like it was yesterday. He made me feel like working a W2 was wrong 😑 I wish him the best.
I'm switching to a moped, 5 dollar gas for 100 miles on the summer
Lol she had examples on hand of these awful orders cant speak on the full time but part time is fine i have no problem rejecting it all . I am new to it but I’m sure in time it will get old like most things do .
Also like i have seen in most cases each state and city are all different
I'm in Dallas and even though I'm signed up with Shipt & IC, I haven't used either app since probably September of last year. I probably need to do a gig with each to keep my account active. I stick with DoorDash and Favor. I think Favor is a Texas thing and most people don't like it but if you figure out how to make the app a win/win, it can be lucrative.
I didn't do any gigs from early November though last week due to being on contract working on the management team of a project.
I got back on the gig wagon last week and it didn't seem AS busy as it could have been, but I still did ok for a few hours work.
The biggest issue for me are the gasoline prices. I run gigs in my Hyundai Elantra but I'm a Corvette & Harley girl, so I put 93 octane in all the toys and we are well over $4 a gallon here. It took me $50 to fill up the Hyundai the other day - not including wear and tear on the car -- and that's with me sticking to a very small area, about 3 square miles so I shudder to think of what it is costing some people to work these gigs.
Oil is at $100 a barrel right now with a projected increase up to $200. If that happens, I don't think any of us will be able to afford these gig hustles -- and if we can't hustle, all the apps are going to be in a world of hurt too.
I keep adding more apps. Then hit the bonuses and busy times as much as possible.
I'm looking for the next best app.
It sucks but I basically have to work more hours and use every app
I miss the good ol days.
Hi Dimples, Thank you for sharing. I’m planning to start doing as a delivery shopper in Queens NY area soon, could you give me some advice? 😊🙏🏻❤️
O yes, when I used to work in Queens I delivered in the residential areas and if you can stay on the border of Queens and LI that’s even better.
These gig companies are a business and they are going to take advantage of us if they can. I don't do instacart hardly at all. I will take small orders if the mileage is comparable. Bur with all that I do have a full time job but I need these to pay the billa.
I love the extra money, but with the way things are going, it's just not worth it.
I’ve managed to pirate enough private customers off the IC platform that it’s a viable base with 2 to 3 app orders per day added in
Not worth doing full time it’s not easy honestly finding a good job that pays well now days is hard unless you have credentials or some trade skills . Most people prefer to work self employed because of work stress and pay rate .
But the gig economy is not what it use to be
Very true
Hello dipples thank you for all the info. What would you suggest to someone thinking about doing gig work?
I would say go for it BUT take it slow. Keep a full time or par time job if you can. Track your miles, income and expenses.
@@DimplesonDemand Thanks dipples I'll keep my part time job. Sorry I don't know your real name. I'm from Jersey also. I'm just outside of Philly. If I run into any issues is it ok to contact you? My name is Marc btw.
@@MrSlice61 sure
Is it true "freedom and flexibility" when you have to be out all day to make a decent living?
Good question! I remember being out all day and night because the money was so good. Not anymore.
What happened with DoorDash and GrubHub?

Thank you. You're so right about the gig work. This ain't it. I can't make a living driving for both Uber and Lyft. It was still possible 3 years ago when I first started driving but that's changed. The days drag into 12,13,14 hours and I can't make those goals anymore. Right now I'm only driving enough to keep me floating while I look for work outside of the gig work. I don't see any real change coming. I wish you luck and a smooth transition out of the gig work.
Thank you Martin
Gig economy is bad for gig workers.
People are in panic mode. The state of the world right now is causing people to spend a lot less. Great thought provoking content Dimples!
It's been real slow for me right after the New Year. I'm in the Newark/Monclair/South Orange areas. I do gig work to finance my travels. I hope it picks up a bit. My trip jar is looking fairly scarce.
We see eye to eye! I had plans for my gig income. It included vacations and splurging. Lol
Shopping sucks, its lame, you can spend 5 mins looking for a item thats out of stock and instesd of paying you to look for it they take away money? Lol
I'm still making about 300 a week and if really God close to 400
Is it taking longer to make that amount.
@@DimplesonDemand bills. Having to multiapp with instacart uber eats and grub hub but it takes all week almost every day
Hi 😁
I live in upstate New York, I do gig work ( mostly instacart right now) full time and it has been slower here the last month. I do have daily and weekly goals but sometimes it’s just not worth the wait to make the daily goal. I typically work Wednesday thru Sunday. I have found that Saturday’s are the best earning days around here so if earlier in the week is slower I just go home early and work longer on Saturday’s to catch up. I am very picky about my orders and don’t take anything that doesn’t result in $25 plus an hour. It can be hard but I like the freedom of going to work and coming home whenever I want. During the summer I might switch my groove and do AmazonFlex like it did last summer but we shall see. I refuse to do Shipt due to not being able to see the tips upfront. I have UberEats as well for a back up if I wanted to do it when something else is slow but I end up putting more mileage on my car with that then any other gig app. Hope this feedback helps 😊
Oh and I am refusing those double store orders. It’s is possibly IC worst idea yet
Hey Samantha 👋🏾
Thanks for the feedback. Hope you’re doing well. The freedom is definitely a pro, but things have been suppppper slow. I’m waiting for things to pick back up.
I completely agree. Worst idea ever!
