    Loved the video, the message for me it's simple, stop the lack of recognition to players, to Lebron, to Curry, to Jokić, to Miller, to Kobe, to Garnet, to Duncan, to Olajuwon, Kemp, Malone, and to MJ, and stop the lack of recognition to all the players that are there and I didn't mention, the game has change, you can have your favorites and still those players that are not your favorites were/are amazing and still will be amazing.

    I just found your channel recently and love the content you guys are putting out. I think the main argument the 90's era guys use is the hand checking rule, and how much that changes the game on both offense and defense. Because it's not a rule in today's league I feel like it's comparing apples to oranges, and unless that rule is reinstated, we probably will never know how much of an impact it has.

    You nailed it! It's how much better a player was over their peers. People should also check out Michaels averages when Doug Collings had him playing point guard. Pretty sure he was averaging close to a 20pt triple double. I also think he almost got a a 20-20-20 game.

    What a fantastic video and the clip of wilt is great to start with it goes to show exactly what you said the game constantly evolves but as in most walks of life older people can’t let go of the “good old days” so they make up narratives to deny the greatness of the up and comers regardless of the truth the 90s would have been tougher for wilt lord of great centers slowed play… but not in his mind in his mind there just kids playing his game the wrong way. Jordan dominated the 90s by and large and now there’s so much competition there’s almost no way anyone matches that

    You are taking away all the other things in the game: defense, toughness, playing every game, no load management, no jumping ship if you can't win, and go to super teams to make it impossible to lose. I can prove it. Why superstars like Durant, Booker, and Tatum, the best in the league, went to the Olympics and got beaten several times, and barely won the gold Beating Gobert and Batum by only 5 points. What about the year after, just 2 years ago when the commissioner added a bit more physicality, and all of a sudden the percentages of players like: Trae, Luka, Lillard, Harden dropped to pure garbage? If you only add a hand check and a real zone defense, I guarantee that nobody will look "so much better". Many "superstars" will be a liability for their teams and percentages will drop instantly.

      Yeah his general thought process is on the right track but it really came across like a younger fan who thinks they understand more about both generations than they do. Some of the individual talent has obviously evolved but I'm tired of people acting like the difference is the same as comparing the late 80's and 90's to the 60's and 70's.
      The playoff games from the 90's is full of plays that would still get praised in today's league. Obviously some moments aren't great but you can highlight the same issues now. Pretending like terrible performances aren't happening the same way today that they did back then is very disingenuous.
      It would be really interesting if we could use AI to swap iconic 90's finals games with modern teams to see how young fans would react if they thought it was real. There was A LOT more skill back then than videos like this give it credit for.

      @AAblade7 9 місяців тому

      @@Stickyickes It wasn’t just Jordan that let his hand drift more the side of the ball then and they complained about other things as well. Also the carrying wasn’t just a few plays, I had to listen multiple times a game to guys complaining about what Dr J could have done if he could have touched the side of the ball while dribbling. My point is that this argument was just as ridiculous as theirs was.

    • @JJFX-
      @JJFX- 9 місяців тому

      @@AAblade7Is it though? Obviously every generation will take issue with how new players approach the game. Sometimes they're right but others they're simply missing how it evolves for the better. Did Jordan ever travel and carry? Of course, but he also had handles nobody had seen before and the majority of his style can easily be argued wasn't really carrying unless the rules were changed. We've seen players break the NBA and force rule changes but Jordan's style was embraced and laid the ground for what we see today.
      So what's my point? The league today isn't just a case of better players taking the game to new heights. We're seeing the rules changed and exploited to prioritize offense and make it easier to score. We see star defenders leave the lane open because they're worried about a foul call. Players flop to sell a call if the defender so much as breaths too close to them. The league even had to change the rules on intentionally leaning into defender's arms during a shot (looking at you Harden).
      While I don't like focusing too much on all-star games I do think they reflect the overall theme of the league at the time. I'm sure I don't need to tell you how what that looks like now compared to the past. Defense has been nerfed, offense has been given all the advantages and we absolutely see a number of obvious rule violations slide under the radar.

    • @AAblade7
      @AAblade7 9 місяців тому

      @@JJFX- First off Isaiah Thomas had better handles than Jordan ever had. He just couldn’t move at the speed MJ did. What made Jordan was more his insane athleticism, drive, and IQ. Also the NBA has allowed obvious rule violations for decades now aka Jordan treatment. Second I need to point out what I like to call the 1 and 29 rule. 1 team innovates a concept and 29 teams create a crappier version. So 90’s bulls triangle offense created some awesome iso plays for MJ, but people forget it was the back door cuts and passing that created those 1v1s. Same with the warriors. Oh look they are shooting a lot of 3’s so we should just play 5 out, but they forget they are using sets to ensure those are mostly open 3’s. So a lot of what we are both complaining about is the idiocy of those 29 teams making crappy copies of a great team. Thirdly that was way too much rose colored glasses. You didn’t point out any of the issues that the 90’s and 2000’s had. Yes the league embraced MJ cause he was bringing in millions. They also embraced more iso heavy play and less ball movement. I think AI is awesome, but for every 1 astounding play their were 3 plays of just constant stationary dribbling and a forced brick. The center position seemed to get less skilled and more Frankenstein every season. Defense wasn’t really that great since it was a whole lot of packing the paint, especially after illegal defense was removed in 2004. I would argue that the current game has improved a lot. We are now getting skilled centers like we used to a la Hakeem the dream. Last 3 seasons I’ve seen defenses really starting to innovate on a level I haven’t seen in decades. Yeah I agree the foul baiting still needs to be fixed, which has been my biggest gripe of this era.
      I do disagree on how the all-star game reflects the current NBA. To me instead of cyclic swings between offense and defense based on the era it’s just been degrading as a product since showtime. More to the point all pro sports all-star games have had a slow death since the day Pete Rose effectively ruined Ray Fosse’s career.

      For Example Kevin Durant could continue to average what he averages right now and he would surpass 40,000 points in 4 more seasons which would be his 20th season.....But guess WHY we haven't heard anything about it?????????? Because NO ONE GIVES A FUCK!!!! HOWEVER!!!! We would hear about it if Kevin Durant is playing 2 or 3 seasons from now...Shit the only reason that record was even mentioned was because Kareem played for 20 years and one day someone added up his points and said HEY EVERYONE KAREEM HAS SCORED MORE POINTS THAN ANYONE IN THE NBA!!!!!!! Plus dont forget about the FACT THAT IT TAKES 20 YEARS TO DO IT FOR ANY PLAYER IS WHY NO ONE GIVES A FUCK!!!!!
      The only reason YOU EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT OR CARE IS BECAUSE...When the NBA realized that Lebron wasn't better than Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant for that matter and they lost millions of fans since M.J left 12 million to be exact and then more fans when Kobe left. The NBA realized that 92% of NBA fans say M.J is the GOAT. So they had to keep finding ways to sell Lebron to the fans so they made a big deal with the scoring title. I know this cuh i was around when Kareem retired and back then and even now whenever the scoring title was brought up it was brought up after all of Kareems other accolades
      Yeah: So my point is NO ONE CARES BRUH BRUH

      You agreed with JxmyHighroller on a point the commenter disagreed with.
      Agreed would be the wrong word I think because it would imply that you have heard what Jxmy said and it's more than your opinions coincide.

      @@Post2k69 HUMANS are getting weaker and dumber..so we arent evolving..
      AND Basketball isnt evolving, changing doesnt mean evolving..if you move to something worse you arent evolving.
      PLAYERS now are way worse..but of course kids who start watching basketaball yesterday think players now that cant even dribble that ball without carrying or dont have any fundamentals are better 🤣🤣🤣
