The actual plot is a horror story, but beyond that, the game is just unsettling in all kinds of ways. The (at first) unexplained bunny girl always shown behind the game, the dramatic shift in her image should you try to click outside the game window, the way a cute game about shapes is juxtaposed with brief, but dark glimpses of the game's underlying narrative, etc, etc. The extremely calming music just makes everything even creepier.
Same I used to listen to this and the rest of the ost for hours on end, a depressed high schooler. Now I'm 23, happier, but I still feel the same listening to this. Comforting nostalgia

i like listening to these types of songs while staring at the sky (usually night time). not sure, but something about the moon and stars are so captivating to me and with the right music it makes the past time so much more less lonely.

Don't worry, at least people like you and me know where the music comes from and we can enjoy it from our own perspective. Maybe its even better than a lot of people knowing where it comes from if you think about it...
The theme is hopless, but also,it is so ellegant ,resiliant ,stoic. It puts me into a state of melancholy not despair nor terror, just a seeping sorrow when I let myself hear my thoughts out.
I just stumbled upon this song, and its soundtrack. As of writing this, this is literally my first time I've been listening to this song and will be listening to the rest of the soundtrack, but really - wow, this is incredible, such a hidden gem as I read through these comments, wonder what I'll stumble into next while listening to this soundtrack.
This game really is an unseen cornerstone of inspiration. Seriously, there's a lot of elements commonly seen in modern indie horrors that just weren't really around that time. I have nothing but respect for this old title, well ahead of its time in terms of production and horror elements. I just wish the rest of the world could have respected it back then, when the artist was active.
The more I listen to this soundtrack, the less relaxing I find it, just like the game itself, it is not what it seems upon first glance, or first listen in this case I guess lol. The piano carries a lot of weight, it sounds heavy, on some tracks it almost has emotions of sort of anger boiling, it's anxious, there is this constant pressure in these compositions, it still gives feelings of it being calm, but it's also clearly not, but most importantly, all these tracks (except for the last) have deep sense of melancholy, depression and loneliness, it really paints a picture of being alone in your room, lying down and letting your thoughts fester into places they perhaps shouldn't. It still has comfort, comfort in sadness, comfort in the bad. It is depression, as someone else noted here, one of the best soundtracks of all time. Many games were inspired by Irisu Syndrome, and it wasn't just due to its fourth wall breaks, but its overall mood too, I feel that I hear plenty of games (indie) be inspired by this soundtrack, but I don't think anything comes close to it eliciting these kinds of incredibly specific feelings which Irisu Syndrome's OST does.
I've had music that made me listen on repeat for 10 hours straight before but god this just HITS different, the first time I physically danced to something in ages despite it not being something that sounds very danceable
I remember being a child when i first found this game. I was absolutely mesmerized by the art style. I fell in love with this game specially because the ost is definitely one of the best I’ve ever heard. I’m currently 20, and a while ago i found out who’s the artist behind the design of the “bunny girl”. He had a japanese website, but it’s been many years since the last time he posted anything. I can’t help but wonder what kind of art would he create nowadays, is he even alive at this point?
I HAD MASSIVE GOOSEBUMPS WHEN I HEARD THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME. I KNEW THIS SONG FROM A BREAKCORE MEME AND I'M JUST SURPRISED THAT IT CAME FROM A META HORROR GAME.
@@justanaverageanimator2531 you’re talking to an 11yr old account tho. On a soundtrack ost thats barely in public no less (tho the 100k views since then is ok?)

I just watched 2 video essays on this game and both said that the game has amazing soundtrack. I went here to listen to it and i just felt deja vu until the 0:06 mark, when i realized that i heard this in Emray - About 10 Hours of Making Breakcore. The song itself feels very nostalgic and touhou-ish for some reason :/
this sounds depressing as shit. no chilling or vibe like the breakcore. just pure depression whoever made this must have really known how to pour pure emotions in the tunes to fit the game's style
I actually remember playing this game many, many, years ago, (probably somewhere 2011-2014) glad to the game getting some recognition. Jesus Christ the nostalgia is hitting hard on this one and the music is not helping lmao. If theres anything I learn from playing these games, it’s the fact I found it weird it gets noticeable or getting a little bit recognition after 5-11 years later. But hey, at least people are starting to see it more. Oh yeah, the reason why I was here was because of that “about 10 hours of making breakcore” music video, after hearing it I immediately felt like I heard this somewhere before but couldn’t exactly know what it was until I checked the comments and boom, here we are.

I don't know why a lot of people complain about this game having such a small fanbase, I think it's better that way, otherwise we would have a lot of cancerous let's players overreacting to this game for some views and kids doing crappy, unfunny memes. A small fanbase composed of quality is much better than a huge fanbase composed of quantity. People who will really enjoy this game are likely to find it by themselves not by some cringy channel like pewdiepie. Also, I don't think most people are gonna understand this game, I mean, it took me about 2-3 days to slighty improve at the game and reach 20.000 (yeah, I know, I suck), most people would just uninstall the game and won't get what the fuck was happening and even if they had some knowledge about the game through reading a wiki or something they'll eventually get bored since this game is really hard. -Oh, and don't forget those kids that make terrible art and fanfiction. That would be another consequence of this game becoming mainstream. Even though there's already some cringy drawings of this game, but that's inevitable since these horror games involving anime-styled characters always get some, but if you compare it to the amount of cringy "art" more mainstream games like Undertale or FNAF got then it's VERY little.-
I agree with you, but honestly I think the fanbase really wants to support its original creator. Unless it’s Yandere Sim, but that’s an entirely different story.
