The end result is beautiful. Obviously there's are no short cuts to achieve such a high standard of finish. Mint condition watches are lovely of course but on an old watch the dings that can't be polished out actually have character. They show the effects of the passing of time, with which is quite apt when it's on a wristwatch.
It is good to see someone else doing this process by hand. I am always asked to machine polish and refinish my watches, but I find by hand is best for me. In your experience do you think you can get the same result polishing all by hand verses using a machine? I ask because by hand you cannot generate the same type of heat... Great videos!
hi, may i ask because the caseback of my seiko 5 have a single deep scratch though it's not noticeable since it is on the caseback, do you think it can be repaired? and how much do you think it will cost? just wondering if you have any idea :)
Gold plating you cannot polish to remove scratches because it is so thin. You can get it replated but this will cost quite allot. Seiko usually used gold "coloured" plating rather than actual gold.
Hi I just need a little polish for the crown should i remove it from the watch? Maybe the heat or the vibration can have a negative effect on the movement? Is the polishing disc enough alone or do I need a polish pasta or gel or compound too? Thanks

How would take scratches off a gold plated watch, can they be re plated?

If all that needs doing is some touch up to the crown, do it by hand, it won't take very long.
put the dremmel in the vice?
WOW
That's a cool looking watch, what's the name of it
Thanks, its a Seiko 6119-5431 from the 1970s they do come up regularly on eBay.
I have a watch identical only Gold. Could you do that for me. Watch needs servicing and re luming also if possible. Its my Dad's old watch
Unfortunately gold watches need to be re-plated so cannot be restored in this way. Sorry.
I wouldn't run that too long as you might be late to dinner.
Hi. did you change the crystal or polish that too. I have the same watch and would like to do something similar. Thanks
Thankyou. for youre response. i have joined the group. just waiting for youre approval. :)
