The Original Drifters perform a second rendition of "Please Stay" for the Clifton Forge, Virginia crowd at the Historic Masonic Theatre on Sat., Sept. 10, 2016.
The one sitting on he stage and singing first is Chuck Cockran; the one in the middle is my ex-fiance, Russell Henry Jr. Both sang with the late Bill Pickney and Russell was with Bill from the early 50's. You are correct that none are them are The Drifters.. Bill's group was the "Original Drifter's". For some reason, none of these guys sound as good as when I traveled with them in the 1980's & 1990's.
Thanks for sharing your story you guys got so much class just hearing stay is awesome
The Drifters are awesome...so many hits!!
So awesome! Love this ❤️
still beautiful...(please STAY!)
the original lead was Rudy Lewis 1961.he died from an over dose of Heroin in 1963.None of these guys were in the group when it was recorded.
Mack Jack ...Rudy Lewis died in 1964.
@@brucescott4261 he had the most amazing voice.
Sure did 2022 and I still love that voice. None like it.
Dang I thought Ben e king did the lead originally
No one could equal Rudy Lewis. He possessed such a haunting voice.
one of many drifters
The Persuaders did a beautiful up tempo cover of this song check it out
❤
Wow I love the drifters temptation best of all times.
Charlie Thomas died on Jan 31, and the composer, Burt Bacharach died yesterday. Sad all around. Charlie was 85; Burt, 94.
The late Bill Pinkney was one of the Orignal and he is on stage with them on this song
The one on stage does not look like Bill Pinkney to me.
Original by a group called the Crying Shame...check it out
Hahaha, What are you talking about the Crying Shame was just a weak cover version released 5 years after the original by the Drifters from 1961.
who are these guys? they're good but not original drifters!!!
