    As someone who's super new to all this, I really appreciate when you take the time to explain the connections/set up, even when it seems obvious - I'm a slow learner.

      Thanks so much! When I was first getting started I always wished that content creators would just briefly go over the cables and connections, so I vowed to do it as much as I could in my own videos.

    That was fun indeed! Making pairs of just 2 gear pieces is always a way to have tremendous new options without it becoming so overwhelming as would happen if you’d connect all you gear together. I do this currently with my Deluge and Syntakt, because the Syntakt has a great reverb and analog drive, so it is very nice to send audio of the Deluge into it.

    I got the 8 bit warps because it was more suitable for my synth rig, but it's been a month and I'm still just playing it by itself and having fun. I expect I will be getting the XFM soon as well. Seriously under rated gear.

    First of all, thanks for the video. It looks pretty fun and creative. I have E-4 and Roland Aira Compact J6. I connected J6 and E-4 as I saw from you, but it didn't work. Is it an issue with XFM or did I fail? Any idea how I can do it with J6?

    Awesome! I got a circuit tracks about a month ago and i am thinking of getting the E4. Will the E4 get recorded in circuit tracks on track MIDI 1 or MIDI 2 lets say and be sequenced properly like a hardware synth? Or will it just sync to the Tracks' BPM and record the voice in itself? If you have any idea it would be really helpful!

    Just wait until you step sequence your melodies and chords to control the vocal transformer!
    What you will get is auto tune that actually sounds cool/ good/ musical.
    Bring on the Kraftwerk indeed!
    I have a digitech VHM5 that is at least 30 years old, w midi and a little button keyboard, that lets you do the same thing as the new Roland processors. Albeit it is a bit noisy! I believe digitech made many more insane vocal harmonizes like this in the years since then.

Way to difficult.. But now i see this! Man, you got me shopping already.. But.. I hope you Will make a video on how to combine the roland with a force or better, an X.. Thanks for the fun time.. Did you ever get around trying the E4 with the Deluge like you mentioned in the video? I also would thing it would be super fun if you instead of playing the E4 live made som REALLY advanced sequence on some gear!XD Because the E4 just react to MIDI right?

      @@FreeBeat its already super fun lol. I just got the 3 I now own in just the last month so I'm still learning button functions and each ones features. But I already see the limitations of the P.O.'s. I used to Dj, with a numark ns7FX turntable/controller...I'm kind of a turntablist/mash-up/remix Dj so beats and combining music is one of the things I like, so I know the OP-1 will be sweet lol. The P.O.'s have been pretty awesome for sitting out back watching the day and slapping a little fun beat together. I made a beat yesterday from a sample I recorded on my phone from a UA-cam video of a guy recording that sample onto HIS P.O. Street fighter from a video on HIS phone. It was inception lol.

    Still new to electronic music, are there any alternatives to the Liven XFM for a lower budget? (I appreciate £200-£250 is quite reasonable)

    • @DeaBroggn
      @DeaBroggn 2 роки тому +3

      You can use the free Dexed program for PC/Mac to see if you like FM synthesis. Volca FM is ~100 bucks but very less capable. I recommend not rushing into buying hardware as a beginner as I did, there are super capable free or affordable programs for PC/Mac/mobile to get you to know electronic music. My favorites are FL Studio Mobile and Koala Sampler for mobile which I now use more than my hardware synths.

      @@DeaBroggn thanks for the advice!

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 роки тому +2

      In terms of sheer functionality, the Liven XFM is the best you can do for under $250, probably under $500 actually, if we're just talking sheer features. But if you don't mind using software, like DeaBroggn suggests, you can definitely get some serious bang for your buck. Thanks for watching!

      When you do get 'round to hardware, really, the Liven XFM looks like it *is* the go-to for lower budget but reasonably full featured FM. Ought to be sitting right around £200 brand new, and a bit less used on Reverb. But I'd definitely agree with DeaBroggn, try out some software instruments. Dexed is patch compatible with the legendary Yamaha DX-7 6-op FM keyboard, and ExaktLite is a fair rendition of the TX-81Z 4-op FM module (DX-11 synth). ExaktLite would be a good starting point for eventually getting a LIven XFM; the synth engine on the XFM is a very close match.
