Wow, this test is hardcore! Thank you for sharing some essay writing tips with us. I haven't seen the funnel structure before
You’re very welcome. Thank you for your message!
Please, receive my gallons and tons of thanks for making such a wowing video. I can not elucidate in words how much guidance it has provided for aspiring English Language and Literature applicants, like my sister. The video was really a breakthrough and revealed loads of previously unknown information. Besides, as always, your voice is just fascinating, sir.
Lots of love and gratitude from Winchester❤❤❤
That's so kind of you! Thank you. Best wishes to you and you sister.
Thank you, Matthew - this is marvellous! I especially appreciate the way you guided us through the planning process and how to structure an answer, as well as analyse structure/lang/style itself. Your note-taking is methodical and efficient, and something I will definitely adopt in lieu of my usual scrawling. One question: which ought we give greater weight to in an ELAT response, the ideas or the analysis?
Many thanks! Ideas and analysis have to go hand in hand. It's great to come up with some fresh and original ideas, but if you cannot explain and describe those ideas they will count for little.
I want to get into Oxford as an undergrad. I don't live in the UK and I would like to know where do you do the exams? Oh and my country doesn't have test centers.
This is tricky to answer. You need to contact the English faculty at Oxford University. You can find their contact details online. I’m sorry, I just don’t want to give you bad advice by guessing wrongly.
I am an international student, If I want to move to the UK, can I apply to UK universities especially oxford using my first-year bachelor's degree (states in Oxford websites that this also could be an acceptable qualification)? Is it can be competitive? Or I need to take another qualification such as SAT (US qualifications)? Thank you!
Yes, you can do that. You wouldn't need SATs, but would need to take admissions tests for the degree you're applying to (if the chosen degree has a test).
it is terrifying that I am supposed to have done an elat everyday for the last 6 months
Not a whole ELAT per day! If you can do some prep on a daily basis (~10-15 mins), that is ideal. It's not necessary, however, and many successful applicants do much less. My point is that regular practice really helps develop the skills.
