    What you changed was the pcv TUBE. The pcv VALVE is on the top of the engine right infront of the coil closest to the windshield connected to the tube right next to the pcv Tube that you changed. Over time, just how your pcv tube had cracks, the inner part of the pcv Valve thats directly in the engine gets corroded or chips away which makes the engine performance bad. Change the pcv valve and youll see major engine improvement. Helps it breathe alot better. Pcv valve part # is 12637666. Pcv tube part # is 12673868.

      Happy to help. Hope it goes on easy. While you are checking things under the hood, check the "Y" shaped hose going into your coolant bottle. Mine got a crack on the bottom of the piece where the "Y" is and caused all kinds of trouble because it was dripping on my ECU.

      True. However, the connection closest to the front of the engine does not allow enough room to get a fuel line tool in for removal. That one took two picks for me to get it off. There's no reason why these hoses should be this poorly designed. Do better GM. Same with the Y coolant overflow hose. Those like to leak at the Y fitting and it's just poor design.

      @HoldMyBeverage  4 місяці тому +1

      Oil changes have all been done on time and with appropriate oil since I purchased the car. I got it with around 30k on it and the valves have always been loud. I'm guessing the valve tick is why you are saying I need the oil changed.
      I did end up getting the valve cover gasket replaced after this video. I never really thought much about it, but I think the car may be quieter now. Makes me wonder if the old one was seeping enough to cause lower levels of oil on the valves than there should have been.

      Interesting. I hope you get to the bottom of it without much more trouble. Mine will still pop the code occasionally when I have idled the car for a long time, say a half hour to an hour. It doesn't come on then, but comes on the next time I start my car. I have not had that one. Looks like that is something with the engine oil pressure control circuit.
      This may be completely unrelated, but I had several codes that were throwing for different sensors and found that the "Y" shaped hose running into the coolant reservoir was leaking onto my ECU causing electrical issues. Probably not your problem, but its an easy thing to check. I have a video somewhere about that too.

      @@miltondavila9470 ohhhh, I did have that one, but I think that was related to a larger issue that I had with coolant leaking onto my ECU. I have a video on that too. I highly recommend checking the "Y" in the hose going to the coolant reservoir. That caused so many lights and issues with my car. It is the video that starts with "check engine light P0340.." if you want to check that one out.

      @@gagan4123 oil in there seems to be normal for this type of engine. Search for Cadillac ATS catch can. You'll find products that basically replace the PCV tubes and add in a can that catches the oil. There is debate over whether it is a problem, but apparently it can coat your valves in that crud you are seeing and basically bake on causing trouble down the road. This is pretty much a standard problem with direct injected engines. If you want to learn more, try searching for direct injection valve coking.

      @@richardcordeo8586 the rubber hose was put on by a previous owner. Models of the car newer than mine require a special tool to remove the hoses. I think it is a fuel line removal tool.
