I swear above the law was the shit, you would of thought they'd of done a documentary or biopic on this group by now, I banged the hell out of their music, I remember buying the first and second albums and played it till the tape popped, and I'm from DELAWARE, so yes they was getting love out here. one of the most underrated rap groups EVER. STRAIGHT FIRE.
Love watching these throwbacks from the 80's and 90's(I was 24 in '90), certainly was a different time back then. Never thought I'd live to be 56 and reflect at some of the best👌👍years of my life, GODBLESS EVERYONE❤ 🙏!!!
People have no idea how much street cred eazy had he got OG barefoot pookie and mike conception(original crips)in that video they the ones staring at him
I love both versions of this song. But the remix hits harder for me. That Doors keyboard bassline along with the slower tempo and redone vocals slays! I'd love to know who's idea it was to use light my fire.
I remember seeing this video on Yo! MTV Raps back in the summer of 1990. Since ATL was affiliated with NWA and Ruthless records, I immediately went out and bought their album "Livin' Like Hustlers." The album version is much different from this one, but not in a bad way by any means. I think it samples an old Doors song since Jim Morrison and other members are listed as writers. Great video, though. A true West Coast classic.
Man this song and murder rap blew my mind when it came out. I instantly became a fan of these brothers for life. RIP KMG and Lay Law. DirtyRize the Editor Power Players Magazine
Thanks to old B.E.T. and 92.3 for putting me onto Above the Law. Hip-Hop saw so many great unions from a fan perspective. Didn't know Dre worked on their debut album. Eazy was a damn good talent scout. How the fuck do you break apart a powerhouse like Dre and Eazy? Musical Director and Production manager.
Big shout to KDAY for playing this joint to fullest. Yes, Crown hts Brooklyn cat recognizing game living in LA 88 to 96. Best time in Los Angeles good bad ugly. Respect!
I remember when this album was hot at parties, on drives, during driveby shootings (I'm sure I heard it playing in the background...Doppler effect...as the AK's were firing.). Ah, the good old days of growing up in a city that was ranked in the top ten for violent crime, and maybe even all crime, especially when others wouldn't suspect it as being so. It wasn't always bad, but I've seen some shit. I recall these days. Music is like that. It can transport you back to a specific place in time.
These dudes beat down Ice Cube and da lench mob at the new music seminar back in the day...unsung heroes of that g funk sound. Check their album Uncle Sams Curse out....
jack snow I heard that Da lench mob actually beat them down so bad that they stop fucking with Cube and and Cube didn’t really get beat down but he had scratch on him by 187
