Tip for saving table so both of you can go exploring together - put an inexpensive thing on the table like a packet of tissue paper or cheap umbrella on it :). Chope (unofficial self-reservation lol) the table while you are away
Thank you for visiting Singapore. I loved your vlog. We locals always go to our hawker centres as we can have varieties inexpensive food options. I like the way you guys went all the way out to look for hawker food. We have many more hawker centres all around Singapore where u can find good and cheap food.
In SG, the weather changes within a day - eg. sunny in the morning, cloudy at noon and raining in the evening. So it’s best to carry a foldable umbrella all the time; we do use it to shade from the sun too 😉
So sad that you guys skipped Malay food but, oh well. The next time you both are here again, you can try going to the Kampung Gelam/Arab street area. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes selling middle-eastern and authentic Malay food. Kampung Gelam was historically a settlement for the Malay/muslim community here. There's also Geylang Serai but since Kampung Gelam is located right in the heart of the city, it makes it much more accessible and convenient to get to compared to Geylang Serai. The nearest MRT station would be Bugis and actually it's within walking distance to the Little India area. 😊
You can get chinese fried dough in many hawker centres, however they are usually sold as a breakfast item. In addition, most hawker centres are opened only till lunch. Only certain hawker centres open till past dinner.
You guys never cease to amaze me. I’m a very fussy eater. Lol. But your enthusiasm is great. Can’t wait to see what’s next to see and hear about. 💗 oh, new grandson pics up. 😍
do consider trying Roti Prata its like the local version of Naan bread with curry chicken or fish the next time you have indian food! ( Plain or with egg )! welcome to sg!
Wow...amaze by your adventurous food tour around some of the hawker centers in Singapore (you have only started to scratch its surface ..haha) Hope you both eat and enjoy the local food as much as possible. Even if you guys return to US, you could still find Singapore hawker center experience in NY city. We have a oversea franchise hawker ctr at manhattan, just open recently.
Thank you for visiting Singapore. 1) Durian - If you don't like it, then you don't like it. It will not be justifiable to dislike something if you have not tried it. At least you've tried. Durian is my favourite. 2) It's a bummer that it was so wet when you filmed this footage. I hope you've enjoyed Singapore despite the wet weather. 3) Singapore is known as an expensive country. Public transport is affordable. Food prices at hawker centres have increased. Restaurants are expensive. However, the things that are sky high are residential housing and automobiles. 4) Your other video about the pros and cons of Singapore - There are indeed many rules in Singapore that could surprise (or shock) tourists. Some people dislike them, while others love them. This explains why Singapore is known for her reputation, safety, cleanliness, efficiency, productivity, and organised system. 5) There are indeed many sheltered walkways. Singaporeans are pampered. 6) Utensils - One piece of advice if you ever eat at hawker centres again: Avoid placing your utensils on your tray or on the table. They are full of bacteria.
The Singaporean in me wants to give you a litany of places to try, food to sample, but that would take hours and so I shall resist. What you need is simply the willingness to try anything, and be able to take spicy food. Which you have shown in this video! So no problem there. I just have one suggestion, which may be the best suggestion you get, or it may be the worst -- Besides trying the things that really looks good to you, you may want to make a point of trying ONE thing a day that you DO NOT THINK you would like (if it is not too expensive). Another strategy is to ACTIVELY TRY TO FIND THE WORST FOOD to try... :-) (Or the worst described or worst named food you can find). And as a counter check, you should BOTH agree to try it (just in case one of you is too adventurous, the other will be the "voice of prudence"). One more tip: If there's a queue, the food's probably outstanding! Join the queue, talk to the people in the queue, ask them what's good, and how best to eat the food (combination, sauces, add-ons, etc). EVERY Singaporean thinks that they are an expert in Singapore food, and if you find someone in a line, he (or she) probably thinks he/she knows the best way to enjoy that dish and will be happy to educate a clueless tourist! I look forward to your next video: The Worst Food We tried in Singapore! 🙂
You went to Adam Road Hawker Centre and didn’t try the main thing there - the Malay food especially the nasi lemak! That would have made your tour complete with the 3 main ethnic foods.
there it's what to eat because locals are so lucky not to have to cook at home mostly : 3 meals a day they be at hawker centers. In the west you spend time shopping for food then cooking and even packing for lunches for work and the kids' schools
Chinatown Complex 02-135 (2nd floor) for cheaper/better dumplings and Char Kway Teow 02-173, and for dessert sweet rice dumpling in peanut soup same place.
hahahaha what did u expect... they have 2 seasonal monsoon seasons! 🤣hope u finally understand that SEA has popup storms galore!!! bahahahaha first video i seen from ur channel and i think ima enjoy ur singapore series
Noooooo, that's the worst when the spot you want to eat at is closed. Also, thank God Jacob has great navigation skills to get you to all the Hawker Centers, even when it is raining.
It's not almost like it's purposely done so that there's hubs. It's intentionally done such that activities centers around certain hubs. The department responsible for our city planning is the URA which looks 50 years into the future. For any other tourists visiting who might see this comment, y'all could head on down to the URA center for a tour. :)

Yes, Singapore is expensive. But if you know your way, you still can get cheap stuff, be it food or whatever. By the way, there are many more better stalls that sell similar food as Hawker Chan. Enjoy.
I chanced upon your video. 1st time watching & I like both of you. One suggestion: whenever you need to locate a place/stall, etc…. feel free to ask people around you. Most of us are helpful.
I understand. I would not expect an answer for one side of the other. I would also recommend the Philippines too. I had a friend as me which country I had to pick between Thailand and the Philippines. That was a tough question.
To use chopsticks, you must not hold it in the centre. It should be about two fingers width from the centre of chopsticks. One of the two chopsticks should not be moving at all. All the work is done by the other chopstick.
Wut?? No Malay/Indonesian food, but you folks like Spicy stuff??! You're missing out on some great stuff people! Please try them out when you can. Careful though, these days, it's hard to find authentic Malay or Indonesian food that was made correctly. You might want to read up on what's recommended around here.
@@JacobandJennyTravel Oh, I should mention, the easiest way to get that kind of food would be at and around the Geylang Serai Market and Hawker Centre. It's near Paya Lebar MRT, in case you need that info. Have fun!

If you like good food and not picky… every hawker centre should have sup kambing (mutton soup), Indian rojak (fried food salad combo) or Chinese rojak (saucy salad combo). Avoid Michelin ones unless you mind long queues, shoddy service and possible attitude issues and some overpriced items. I’m a fan of going to good food places but not at the expense of my temperament.
