    Thank you for sharing your packing tips. I had not thought of the hangar method for 2-3 days of clothing and I think I’ll definitely try that on my upcoming trip to France. I also like the idea of a rolling backpack. Nowadays with all of the lost luggage, it’s great to be able to do carryon only but as you said, it’s good to be prepared with a small tote bag/ purse to transfer valuables into if you are forced to gate check.

    Wouldn't having many transfers be an ideal reason to not check your luggage, because it could get lost in one of the transfers?

      I agree - the risk goes WAY up - but we knew that we couldn't handle that much luggage with our balance/sight issues.

      And she told you why she has it - if she is required to check the backpack, she can use it for some of the contents that she doesn’t want to check. I have purses of all sizes and some are that big. Just depends on what you need to carry.

    Very interesting! My daughter and I are doing a 2-week Viking cruise in mid-November from Budapest to Amsterdam. Our air was included free and we also got a great price on the cruise. We did a week long Christmas markets cruise last December on another line so it will be interesting to compare a 1-week vs 2-week river cruises on different lines. I have done 40+ ocean cruises (where I get free laundry due to my cruise line loyalty) so packing for a 2-week cruise with no laundry will be a challenge ( the cost of sending out your laundry on a River cruise is ridiculously expensive!). Any additional tips will be appreciated!

      The floor in the bathroom is heated, and there is a control to make it hotter. Bring some clothes pins and a small cord - then you can rinse out things in the shower, hang them up, and they will be dry by morning. Enjoy your trip - the river boats are amazing.

      @@sandijerome thank-you! I was thinking the same thing that in order to travel lightly, we will need to rinse some of our things out along the way. I’m also debating whether to extend our cruise at the end in Amsterdam as we really don’t get to experience that. I did find the prices charged by Viking to do this were outrageous though so I was thinking of doing this independently. I’m not sure if Viking will add a surcharge to change our return flights if we do this?

    • @sandijerome
      @sandijerome  Рік тому +1

      Sorry to take so long, just dug out my backpack today for another trip and the wheel are pretty clean. So I put some baby powder on them and a black shirt - and no problem. There is a plastic frame on the bottom that seem to hit just right to keep the wheels from touching my back. I hope this helps!

      @@sandijeromea cruise on the ocean is out of the question for me now! River cruise, baby steps! We go to WDW on average almost every other year! Our next trip is in April! We usually go in January or September. This is our first spring trip. I hope we don't regret it! 😅

    • @sandijerome
      @sandijerome  21 день тому

      @@MichelleBradley-f1t April can be crowded in the parks, but the BEST weather. Always warm (January can be cold and windy) and very little rain (we're soaked right now,) good choice. I was terrified about an ocean cruise - I get seasick, but we went on the 3-day Disney Wish and got a cabin on a lower deck toward the middle and never felt at anything. It is short, inexpensive (compared to a river cruise) and so easy to combine with your Disney visit - 45 min from Orlando. Maybe try that in 2027, but only Dec-Apr to avoid hurricanes and stormy seas.
