So many great compositions over the years in so many albums. Hard for me to pick a favorite I love so many of them. They have great complex, melodic themes that change in dynamics, key, and tempo, keeping the listener interested. And then the voices, my God!
One of the Greatest Bands ever!!..... &...... Without doubt The Greatest Guitarist of my 70 years lifetime Live Long Pat Metheny ....ps R I P Lyle Mays ,brilliant playing here as usual , your contribution will be your legacy you will never be forgotten nor will your music !
@@jesusislord7526 Metheny is hardly “famous” in the sense that you seem to suggest. If he “sold his soul for fame” he’d have spent his career playing pop jazz like Kenny G.
He is so nerdy looking I love the striped shirts and the hair and don't give a damn because he is an amazing composer, arranger, guitarist, his scope is huge, he plays so many different ways, and when he plays acoustic guitar you hear the core of it, just a beautiful and skilled sound on the instrument! His added instruments, invented constructed take you into a broader soundscape. BTW his latest album Cuong Vu Trio meets Pat Metheny is amazing, and cutting edge sounds and composition. His ability to work with KEYBOARD players, his collaborations with Lyle Mays and Brad Mehldau is amazing. If you do not get it, like it, fine!!! I just recently discovered him in this day and age, as a classical geek who grew up with a jazz musician father though, I like him way more than I expected to---he is an artist of the highest caliber. Very generous, yes he solos brilliantly but he also really LISTENS and works, incredible. So, sorry folks who don't enjoy it--that is just the way of the world sometimes.
I have no words for this incredible music... Pat is such a genius, together with lyle they changed the world and a lot of people. I sure wish that music was as uplifting and fun today, like this one and so many others from not only the metheny group but other great bands, jazz, pop, rock, funk, everything. Hope lyle is somewhere good, and resting well while he shines bright up there.
After growing up listening to his records thanks to my father, who was a big fan, about 4 yrs ago i had the chance to see him live in my hometown. Still hold it as one of the best performances i've witnessed in my life! Pure Genius!!!
This song is one of his best. Wonderful structure. The bridge of the tune is heart warming. The essence of Pat is in the music he plays. There is no doubt when he plays music, he's in another dimension from us ordinary musicians. It's obvious he has tapped into the right side of his brain which contains information and abilities few people have ever known. He's just wonderful. Thank you Pat for sharing your music with us.
Awesome!! This is a favorite of mine, and this is the first video performance of it that I checked out at random. What a find! Thanks for putting this up!
I played this song at a party yesterday. I heard someone mention Mario kart when this song was playing. Do you think they were referring to this song, thinking it sounded like Mario kart music?
The best band of all time.

I came across Pat’s music on watercolors Sirius XM a few months ago. Damn, I wish I would been exposed to this growing up. I’m 41 now
You are never too old to start enjoying music that will transform your life!! ¡Saludos amigo!!

Sweet, feel-good music; a cautiously optimistic approach to love, perhaps? Sincere, elated and whimsical.

This sounds *exactly* like the record. That's impressive.
Exactly what I was thinking, to get that studio sound in a live performance it's really impressive, Metheny is a beast musician.
