Spent my childhood in Jeddah back in the 80's for total 16 years. Played football in vacant grounds, bare feet in the roads. Visited again in 2012 after 18 years and saw it become a concrete jungle. Visited Balad and Corniche and that brought back some fond memories. Overall, Jeddah is very dear to my heart and I hope to visit it again soon.
I lived there in the 90s until early 2000s. Was beautiful. Food was so delicious! And the Red Sea is sooo beautiful. We worked there as expats. One of our lives' best experience. Miss you Jeddah!!!
Seeing this video brings back memories of my trips to Jeddah in 1983 and 1984 when my father was working at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport. He lived at the International Compound run by "Hochtief" the German Construction Company I think. Even then, it was a very modern city. I was actually born in Saudi Arabia (Al-Khobar) back in 1967 when my father was working at the College of Minerals and Petroleum in Dhahran but I only lived there for about 2 1/2 years so don't remember anything.
I was born in 1983 in Jeddah and my dad also worked at the airport for Rolls Royce. I bet our dad's crossed paths a few times! Sadly I don't know the name of the compound I lived in for the first 18 months of my life.
Watching from Jeddah, I love Jeddah, I'm living and working here in Jeddah for 8yrs now and I love going to Ballad specially in the souq gold market and also Corniche specifically in the night so beautiful. Locals are so nice and generous. I'm in love with Jeddah.

Hello! ,I’m from Jeddah and I LOVE your blogs of Saudi Arabia , your tourist really did a great job at describing our culture and history , I’m really happy that you had a great time in my country ,WELCOME TO SAUDI ARABIA !!! 🇸🇦❤️
Hi Mada! Thank you so so much for the lovely comment. It honestly means so much. ❤️ It was such a pleasure to go there and see all the incredible landscapes, cities and people. ☘️🇸🇦
I hate when people act like we as women in Saudi Arabia didn’t have lives before. I’m a Saudi woman and I can tell you that my life hasn’t changed after the change of some laws. I have lived a very happy and fair life , very respected by my family and everything I wanted is afforded for me and I still do. Not just me but all the women (that I know) are the same as me.
Nouf and Marwa said exactly the same as you, they were also very happy and studied abroad and everything. But they were just talking about the changes that happened in the last few years that they were happy about. ❤️
I lived there back in 78 in the American, army, military compound. My dad was an engineer. Snorkeling/scuba, diving or just swimming in the red sea is a definite high point in my life. Coral was endless and gorgeous back then I I think it’s still pretty healthy from what I can tell. being in Jaddah was amazing loved it best tan of my life.
Oh very nice.. the house you showed which was 208 years old was very nice. Nice information about the place. In the begining of the video the background music was fantastic. Thank you.
These films from Saudi Arabia are really interesting. We are lucky to have HD filming nowadays and people who care enough to showcase other countries to an audience who otherwise may or may not prioritise visiting them. In the West, I don't think we hear anything like enough of the Arab women speaking on camera about their lives, so this is really interesting. This is the great advantage of being a female traveller in the Arab countries - you can interview men AND women freely, travel with the Arab women in their cars, etc.

I agree. Don't try to change the Middle East to Western Standards, don't try to change The West to Middle Eastern Standards. But is that happening? Are millions of Westerners migrating to the Middle East, and bringing Western religion, culture, society, even dress codes there? Maybe a few, who work in the oil industry, but that is all. Meanwhile, millions of Middle Easterners are migrating to Europe and beyond, and, well, you know the story ...........
@@evolutiontellsthetruth7812 im not taking sides but yes there's a movement in the middle east now where western ideas & culture is spreading and influencing the people...its becoming more and more like the west

Brilliant, loved the story of the Saudi girl diving. Learned to dive there many years back and the idea of tourist visas and Saudi females diving and driving would have been scoffed at. Its great that the country has modernized so quickly whilst still retaining their basic culture. From 1 TV channel and no satellite dishes in the 80's to one of the world's most modern cities. Cannot believe how built up the Corniche is --- there used to be one small road all along the Corniche where we would park at night. We'd then unload our dive gear, walk out to the edge of the reef and enjoy some of the best diving on the planet. I really miss that tamees the Afghan bread. Great video
Hopefully your wish will come true one day soon! You are most welcome here. Also, so I can see Iran too.. this great ancient civilisation and taste authentic Iranian amazing cuisine!

sara F Awwww I’m so happy you enjoyed it Sara. ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, hoping to make lots more videos around the world once this pandemic is behind us. Did you see the videos I did on Riyadh?☺️
Teach Me Vogue I did watch Riyadh’s video.. I enjoyed a lot😍😍😍💕, your making me miss my own city during quarantine days💔 i hope they end soon. Very excited for your AlUla video since I’ve never been there.
I loved that u showed the amazing beautiful side of Saudi , i have lived in Jeddah my whole life since I’m Saudi and I’ve never been to the art museum . I’m definitely going there . Next time you come make sure you go to these AMAZING places :
1 - jasmine box ( near home grown )
2 - le concheur ( amazing food )
3 - il pastino ( the absolute best pizza I’ve ever had )
4- sweet loop ( sells the best churros )
5 - meez ( really good breakfast )
Tell me if u need more
Hope u come and visit again Aoife !
Yaseem, thank you so so much for this! I’ve this saved for when I go again. ❤️❤️❤️ Ohhhh the art museum was incredible, they have different exhibitions every season from what I found out!! ☺️ Thanks so much again 😘
Love Jeddah as I passed three years there
The point is enjoy your trip, and dont try to change a place with western standard..just enjoy and respect the place where you travel
@@ريما-ص2ز --- you mean by corporate money-making giants like McDonalds and Coke? And if there is a social movement to be like "The West" in the Mid East, it is NOT Westerners doing it, cuz hardly any live there.
@@evolutiontellsthetruth7812 there are so much westerners living in dubai/qatar/bahrain 😭😭
We are so happy having you here in our country , everything in the world will become more safe en sha allah and you can come and visit us again , you are welcome 👍🏼🇸🇦
Oh... Jeddha... I've been there nine years... I knew how adored it was only after I left there....
Isn’t that always the case? I’m the same with where I’m from in Ireland ❤️
@@aoifeclifford6348 Have you been there?!
Yes! I’m the one in the video?
@@aoifeclifford6348 cool..
Great video
