Do you keep that colostrum rating with that cow to see if there might be an apparant reason for that low brix rating? Can you raise the heat in that calf room and leave a calf there if it is chilled?
We used to keep beter track of brix readings to cows but kind of gave up on it. Most of the time, it has to do with feed intake and feed quality before freashening. And yes, the calf warming room has a variable rate fan and in floor heat along with a space heater when needed!
A lot of it comes down to time and cleanliness. A stainless tube is easier to keep clean than a nipple on a bottle and can cut feeding time down to a fraction of the time. I know some calves after 30 minutes to an hour would maybe drink out of a bottle but is it worth the time of trying too bottle feed, and then when it doesn't take the bottle we would have to go and dirty up another piece of equipment. Bottles are great, but I think tubing is superior. Thanks for watching!

why do you tube it. why dont you try and give it a bottle first so then its easier in the future.
