This is not a harbor line extension. They are shifting platform number 1 to the West so it will create room for line number 6 in East side. Project work shown in this video is not for harbor line extension.

If malad station for harbour will be elevated whats the use of digging up and making a new platform, cant they just make that two new platforms for harbour line? If that is the shifting of pf 1 of western, which side will the elevated platform be??
Whoever shifted the harbour lines from east side to west side has done a grave mistake and injustice to railways. Had they remained on left side, they would have been extended till Borivali long ago and then those tracks would have served both harbour trains which are few and out station trains from Mumbai Central, Dadar , Bandra as well as upcoming Jogeshwari terminal. It would have also released slots on the fast tracks so more fast trains could have been run . And instead of current flyover at Bandra Khar, only a single track flyover like the one in Wadala would have ensured that harbour lines go on their separate lines after Mahim towards cst without needing to cut into the main lines anywhere . The existing 5th line should have been completed till Bandra which would have let it be used s bidirectional till Bandra and then 6th would take over the remaining up traffic.
@@antonylejos there is no space to create both harbor tracks and outstation tracks north of Goregaon. but had the harbour lines been kept on the east side, they could have used two tracks for both harbour trains and outstation till Borivali. if currently fast trains and outstation trains can share same tracks, then surely harbour line trains which are way fewer can share same tracks with outstation trains. NOW plan is to build 5th and 6th line from Borivali to Virar. that will also include two long bridges over creeks which will mean additional cost. all this is being done but a single 3km track between Khar and Matunga cannot be done for more than 20 years :(
@@antonylejos see, right now, harbour lines shift from east side to west side. then same tracks from khar to goregaon are shared by harbour slow and some slow western trains. so now each train going towards churchgate on harbour tracks, holds up the borivali down track till the train crosses over from harbour up track to western up slow track. all this could have been avoided if the harbour tracks had been retained on the east.
Quality is impressive both of your work and video shooting/editinng.
Please do more rail focused updates.

But railway's long term plan is to seperate suburban lines and main line lines.
