Thanks so much for your reviews and commentaries, last time I visited your page, I was introduced to a whole new world of music and I’m so grateful to you!
Very cool Dereck! Thanks for bringing some of these to my attention. I'm also a very big musique concrete fan myself and have been collecting the Recollection GRM series for instance from the start. If you haven't heard of him yet I would definitely recommend checking out the dutch composer Dick Raaijmakers, who has worked for Philip's electronic music department for a long time and has also worked alongside Iannis Xenakis for a bit. I'd especially recommend checking out his pieces 'Ballad Erlkönig', 'Canon 1-5', 'Flux' & 'Plumes'.
Awesome… always informative, sir… I stumbled into Ivo Malec a few years ago via one of those musique concrete comps. He's amazing. I need to hear that Jonas Palm LP. Thanks again :]]
Have you ever talked about Xenakis ? I've just started getting heavily into his music and would love to hear your thoughts on him. John Cage and Jan Steele also made a record together called 'Voices and...' ok the third word in the title escapes me but it's magic and I think you'd like it.
I was just talking about this same subject regarding sitting on the floor, opening an album and listening to it from start to finish. It seems that lately I just put an album on and do something else while I am listening to it. Marchetti was just added to my VC want list and some electronic music. I do not have any Avant Garde nor do I know if I can take it in large doses Dereck? But that what this VC is all about.~ I learned a lot in this video as I do in all of yours. Thanks, Rob/Boston
nice collection - i picked up that mikrophonie i and ii at a thrift store for a dollar - in almost mint condition - it's the only time i've ever had any real luck diving through thrift store records
incredible stuff. New viewer and brand new subscriber. I have recently dug right back in to my electronic music addiction and have picked up some incredible albums on discogs. 2 that stand out I wanted to share are Particle Music by John Wiggins and the only two albums by Rashad Becker, Traditional Music of Notional Species volume 1 and 2. Really loking forward to digging into your archives!
I love this stuff. If you haven't checked them out yet. You should listen to lotus eaters, It's Stephen O Malley of Sunn O))) and Aaron turner(Singer) of isis. Also Aaron turner's solo stuff under the moniker House Of Low Culture. Not to mention he has another project going on right now with his wife called Mamiffer.
Interesting! This music do something with me in the dark with a good headphone on. But for some reason it doesn't touch me the same way in the middle of the day through some stereo speakers. Still it's deep and so very interesting to me. A guy I liked a lot is Dick Raaijmakers from Holland, maybe better known as Kid Baltan. You should check "Song of the second moon". I'm always amazed to discover Russolo & Schaeffer stuff. It's Intriging to me, a personal experience, but not for every day.
ADDENDUM to a previous comment of mine: I think I would need 200 YEARS to really dig and do some serious "deep listening" through your collection.... please keep educating!
Hi Dereck,I have sent you messages about the Wally LP that you are selling.PLease hold on to them and keep them until our canadian postal service' strikes resume.Would greatly appreciate. thx.

So glad I found your page. I was looking up Hafler Trio and came upon this video. Subscribed!
Refreshing to watch a nice easygoing stroll through a high brow area.....rather than an academic's wordy analysis.

Pierre Henry's "Le Voyage" from The Tibetan Book of the Dead 1968 is great too-- not so electronic, but very avant-garde.
@ThePinklp Thanks Pinklp, I have only begun to dip into the other projects of Mr. O'Malley. I greatly appreciate the tips.
love these videos please keep going man this is all great
I love Penderecki and Stockhausen. Only have a few of Penderecki's records and two of Stockhausen's!
Penderecki's music is scary as hell!
They were bought throughout the years all over the US, some in Japan.

Nice selection. I collect avant garde, but from a slightly different angle. Where did you get most of these releases?
@stephan73 Indeed it is very challenging.
@TheGrecianThunder You may find things of interest in this genre, my friend.
@TheInfiniteGroove I wish!
You mentioned Conrad Schnitzler. What LP's or CD's of him go you have?
