    About Courtney Moore:
Courtney Moore is growing up in California’s San Fernando Valley. She’s a total ’80s girl whose favorite place is Smiley’s Arcade because she loves playing video games. Courtney likes being in control of what happens, which isn’t always the case in real life. She and her stepsister, Tina, don’t always get along, and now that Courtney’s mom is running for mayor, things are changing at home. It’s a whole new game for Courtney, and she’s figuring out the rules as she goes.
    About Josefina Montoya:
Josefina Montoya is a Mexican girl living on a rancho near Santa Fe during the time when the area was under Mexican Rule, only a few years after Mexican independence. Josefina is a patient girl who is very thoughtful, and many scenes show her thinking about and observing nature, life, the people around her, and her surroundings. Josefina has a hobby of collecting things that remind her of her mother to put in her memory box.
    About Kaya'aton'my:
Kaya is a young girl from the Nimiipuu or Nez Perce tribe living in the pre-contact Northwest. Kaya is brave and outgoing, but careless and thoughtless, and wants to be a leader of her people.
    About Rebecca Rubin:
Rebecca is nicknamed "Beckie" by her family. Rebecca's family is Jewish and maintains a commitment to their heritage. She wants to be an actress like her cousin Max when she grows up. Her family does not approve of her following in Max's footsteps, and they want Rebecca to be a teacher; however, she refuses to take their advice. She wants to appear more grown up than she is, despite the mocking from her older sisters. She is thoughtful and generous. Rebecca often accompanies her father to help work at his shoe store. She likes to crochet and is very good at it. She also has a knack for business and making money, as shown in Meet Rebecca, similar to her father. Due to the fact that Rebecca gets hand-me-downs from her twin sisters, she has two sets of almost all her outfits. She shares them with her cousin Ana.
