Hey I recommend a few changes if you want to play the most realistic version of the game. You may want to leave the goalies on default after this because it's extremely realistic and great scoring chances are rare. • General Sliders o Fatigue Effect - 90 - this will ensure you have to strategize line switch management. It will also limit shift to a min or two with 7 minute gameplay settings. o Fatigue Recovery - 15-25 - This is to help logical line changes. Superstars still recover faster. • Passing o Min Pass Speed 25-30 - This unlocks a well aimed chip pass like in real life. Way more effective than taping R1/RB o Puck Control Rating Effect - 70-90 This will create a unique style for each player on the ice. Any you hate, you can trade later. o Bouncing Puck Receptions - 80 -90 - This will make Dump and Chase plays more effective because the computer can’t easily scoop a puck without stopping. • Puck Control o Skating Impact - 30-40 - I forgot the default put increase this to allow skaters to make errors while stopping and making ridiculous cuts that aren’t possible in real life. This really shines on players who are tired. • Checking Sliders o Board Effect Non-Puck/Puck Carrier - Drop to 0. This unlocks realistic board play, you can bump players and poke check the puck past them. Pressing Y will also always work to pin them on the boards. o Aggression - 60-70 - This is realistic pressure and forces you to dump pucks around the boards. Your CPUs will also pressure CPUs and not just stand still. o Checking Balance Rating Effect - 80 or higher - This ensure smaller players fall from contact when sprinting. o Incidental Contact Effect - 100 - this unlocks animations when players bump one another no matter which team they are on. Faking a CPU to hit each other is super rewarding. o Stick Lift Effectiveness - 70 or higher - NHL23 has a broken stick lift and causes a lot of slashing penalties you have to increase this to fix it. Once it’s high enough you can stick lift players from the side and in front of them. Let me know what you think.
Hey there, Just watched your video and can't wait to try out these sliders! This is really the first time I have looked up someone else's sliders for the game and I have been playing EA NHL since NHL 10! I was finally able to get NHL 23 since I have been waiting for it to come onto Game Pass so I'm looking to trying these sliders later today! I know that NHL 22 finally added roster share, which was awesome! and one of the main reasons I waited to get NHL 23 on game pass and hopefully and maybe in NHL 24 or 25, they will be able to add a community file share feature like Madden and MLB the Show to where the community across all platforms and generations can share their roster files, gameplay slider files, and draft class files for franchise mode!
I play on custom sliders . And they are meant for superstar .. used them on semi pro so easy to score CPU wasn’t that good and didn’t get shots off a lot. Switched to pro and lost a lot lol
Just now trying out the game now that it's on Game Pass. Can't wait to try out a custom league but I gotta find my right settings and sliders first. Any suggestions for a realistic/balanced experience for someone playing semi-pro diffiiculty? I'm not good enough for the higher settings. I plan to play my games, not sim. Not sure if that makes any difference.
I don't have any sliders for Semi-Pro. But once you get to the point where the games get easy to win, then hit me up, and I can hook you up with some sliders. 🙂🙃
How come my sliders don't save? I massively decreased slashing because it happens any time I shoot, but when I look at the settings mid game it's back to the default. I turned their aggression down too because I can never enter the zone without like 3 guys on the guy taking it over the line, and it's not realistic so there's no squeaking it through their legs to the open man, and that was reset as well. Last time I played a chel game was 2k7 (I know, oof) but man I don't remember the AI never getting fatigued and swarming the puck carrier like this. Edit: i can change some settings mid game, but ones like period time puts it back to 3 mins and locks it. Whats the point of changing it if it reverts to default?
I kept trying to play but just uninstalled. Poke checking works maybe 20% of the time, the AI can just take the puck off your stick by skating past you, and the passing is terrible. Trying to direct a pass from RW to LW and it's pointing to the guy I want, I hit pass, and my guy chips it ahead to the d man in front of him. I rarely play these games so maybe it's a beginners issue, but it seems like my guys are getting called for slashing for turning around even with slashing all the way down to 10, and then poke checks became a tripping button. Ai can dive in front of my guy and take his legs out but God forbid I try to poke check. Also entering the offensive zone with a winger and my AI center slows down before the blue line so there goes my open man. In the O zone trying to create pressure? You have to control who goes to the puck and it doesn't always switch to the right guy, because the guys you're not controlling will sit back and just watch as the opponent takes possession in the corner. Backchecking on D, I'm using the left side d man, covering the puck carrier, and my RD decides it would be fun to skate on over, leaving his man open and creating a scoring chance. It blows my mind how different AI is depending if it's on your side or not. I even turned up the difficulty for them to win faceoffs because every single one I lost to that "toss up" BS, and then it started saying "lower skill." Turned down checking aggressiveness by like 15 and they were still glued to my ass. I get I'm not gonna win every game and I'm not gonna have the space to make every play I want all the time, but there's more "what the fuck was that" and "where are my teammates" than there is "ooh shit that was a good play"
You basically just have to adjust. Eventually you'll get better at not taking penalties. It's more of a cycle game. I actually find the scoring is way too high, in my favor.
To be honest. I find All Star more challenging than Superstar. Superstar, I find, the goalies are just worse haha. That might just be me, though. I would imagine, if you want to play a more slowed down, realistic version of the game, they should work just fine. 🙂🙃
I came here looking for a challenge too by putting it on superstar but it seems so easy. I scored a hat trick in bot even 10 mins into the first period and got over it. Trying to fix my sliders so it’s not so boring for me to play by scoring 7-8 goals a game.
I always get scored on in the last minute of the periods. Your cpu players are still so stupid compared to opposing cpu teams. Nhl needs so much work to be a good game again.
Yeah, it's all about the AI slider settings for CPU Strategy Adjustment. If it's at like, 3 or higher, the opposing team always goes God mode, late in games. But, a side effect of it, is that your teammates all seemingly turn their brains off. 🤣🤣

Damn. I may have to pump these into some play now or something and give em a try.
Very comprehensive.
Boring

Oh I really like some of these!
I need to try this

I agree with every word you just said haha.
I hate that it’s easy to score. I want it to feel realistic not having final scores like 10-9, 9-6, 8-7 etc.
I play on custom sliders . And they are meant for superstar .. used them on semi pro so easy to score CPU wasn’t that good and didn’t get shots off a lot. Switched to pro and lost a lot lol
I've found great sliders after weeks of trying. Much harder to score and games are much more competitive.
Put it on superstar not rookie 😂

I have trouble saving my sliders. If I customize my sliders, it goes arcade 1. Should I save my sliders or play with my customized sliders?

I've heard a ton of people having this problem, I did it myself when NHL 22 was released.
Here's a quick vid.

Fantastic upload my friend 👍👍👍
How in the world do you score with these? I've been dominated 1-6 and 1-3. And I haven't had any power plays. And a bunch of penalties against though.
You basically just have to adjust.
Eventually you'll get better at not taking penalties.
It's more of a cycle game. I actually find the scoring is way too high, in my favor.
Great video man thanks
Do these work for be a pro too or do you have separate sliders for be a pro?
I'm still figuring out be a pro mode, but my settings above work if you play the full 20mins and your shifts are short.
I will be doing separate sliders for Be a Pro, in just a few days
Why are the Ais on my team so bad
It's in the game! :P
I play on superstar and am looking for the most challenging, realistic gameplay. would this work for me?

I play on superstar and found the game far too easy. I've found great sliders for the regular season and playoffs. Game is so much more realistic.
I have the same problem it’s too easy. Did you use these?
