Luke has an amazing lower register. He was blowing me away with how easily he was hitting those lower notes in his range. With the right songs he can make an impact in the competition and gain a lotta fans.

He cant sing. Hes not a singer. Totally out of key and all over the place. He couldnt hold a single note longer than 1 quick second, he has zero sense of key, no vocal control. Hes not a singer. and its straight up boring and monotonous. Extremely Monotonous.
Hes literally just talking. There are so many amazing singers who sound great, work hard, and try hard, and then guys like this, who do absolutely no work and have no talent, because somebody told him "hey you should sing with that deep voice!" and then gets the spotlight, undeservingly. Katy is the only smart and realistic person there. Theyre looking for Amazing, Versatile, Professional singers. Not the kid who just sang for his granmdas birthday.

It's so weird that Katy describes his bass singing as a "gimmick" as a bad thing.
1: A gimmick is precisely the thing that makes one stand out from the masses.
2. Many singers does the exact same with high notes.
3. This is an audition, not a voice reel.

Yeah, definitely not a gimmick. Rare talent. Maybe not on a technical level, but the talent is there. Katy is discriminatory against people with low voices, apparently. He can't be famous unless he's a baritone or tenor, apparently. Honestly, if he did his act right, he could take popular music in a different direction.
Her range is garbage, has to either belt or slip into falsetto for easy notes
I dont know who she is but she does have that cliche pop music fan so she would probably hate this voice and the song he sings at first

This kid is amazing. With a little coaching and not taking singing so seriously he will be a star. (Note: by not so seriously when she said have fun with it you could instantly see the excitement and upbeat switch he took)

He probably has abnormally thick vocal cords. They've inspected peoples vocal chords who sound like this and they're usually thicker.

I really liked the solid constructive criticism from Katie and Luke took it like a true gentlemen, "Yes ma'am." Good audition. I want to hear charismas songs form him too, but there is also voiceovers, voice acting, audiobook reader etc. He could go far with a voice like that and this is his shot to get it out there. A 'Yes, Yes, No' vote sets his expectations while still giving him the chance to put himself in front of produsers and the constructive criticism gives him a concert goal he can set for himself to improve his odds of success. Well done all around.
(Though I might have advised not interrupting the first song. It could have thrown him off, especially making him sing a song he doesn't know by heart and hasn't rehearsed.) [double points to Luke for this btw]

He is a lyric bass. There are a lot of baritones that have a very low register that sounds lighter than him. I'm actually one of them We are called bass baritones. I can use all the notes of the bass but I don't sound deep as this guy. So I guess He is a full bass. He explained himself that high notes for him are difficult He can't go a lot higher actually. I think that He doesn't possess even the timbre of the baritone that's why I think He is full as bass.

I'm not a country guy, I grew up with Punk, but what notes does Perry provide? She only touches one genre.
They should really change the name to Pop Idol... Doesn't seem to have anything to do with talent.
Everyone has a range, in my band we have to tune up or down to what our singer can hit for our covers.
There really should be more judges across a multitude of genres, otherwise this whole show makes no sense.

Sounds as if he's stuck in a limited registrar. With a voice coach and practice to get more range, that would open up a whole new class of songs to him
