  • WWF has been steering Collective Action programs on Water Stewardship in key textile clusters located in the high-risk river basins to secure clean water flows, healthy freshwater habitats, and reduce impacts along the textile sector’s supply chain. Since water is a localized issue, WWF has designed context-specific strategies and developed innovative tools and mechanisms to mobilize stakeholders, enhance capacity on cleaner production, and promote sustainable methods of production. In addition, the collective action programs provide financial mechanisms to foster transition to sustainable practices, explore challenges around traceability in supply chains and provide advocacy for policies that can help create a lasting change at the basin-level. These initiatives have established a momentum for the local textile landscapes to move towards a more sustainable future, however there is still a long way to go.
In this session, participants will hear about the unique approaches that shaped the evolution of these collective action programs and the challenges that required the development of innovative solutions; the impacts that have been achieved so far and how to leverage these learnings and tools to create impact at scale.
