Yes it is remotely controlled and has a continuous flow of water in a fan pattern on the cutting end to keep dust down - these machines are used a lot in mines that have low coal seems as short as 40 to 50 “ in height - the front cutting drums have carbide bits that for in the holes you pointed to and are changed out as they wear - these machines really changed the way underground coal is mined as it allowed higher production with fewer men - I spent many years working with these awesome machines - I started a small property services outfit after retiring to keep me busy (mostly excavating) and love your channel- keep ‘em coming!

Minimum cutting height on that miner is 38 inches and max cutting height is 132 inches

Try the minimum of 27 inches an maximum of 22 feet
