- Today I had to troubleshoot my own desktop video editing PC as I had a few recent BSOD or blue screens of death, which were all related to the Windows Memory Management sub systems.

To me, these are the easiest of all Windows errors to troubleshoot as the memory can be removed and checked for physical damage, you can also clean the memory sticks if needed, and if you have multiple RAM modules you can swap them around to see which one is faulty or has something that is preventing it from running correctly.
Top tips!
Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool built in to Windows from the start menu.
Remove the RAM and inspect for physical damage.
Clean the RAM modules and the RAM slots on the motherboard.
Make sure the RAM is seated fully into the motherboard slots.
Check that you are using the right CAS speeds for your RAM modules.
If you are overclocking - run at stock speeds to see if that fixes your problem.
Remove any grease or dirt from the golden contacts on the RAM sticks that might be preventing a good electrical contact.
Check for BIOS updates for your motherboard to ensure compatibility.
Try and avoid statically charged environments!
Maybe a lick will cure it?

I licked my entire pc. Every single component even the monitor and speakers. Turns out I didn't plug it in. Worth it.
Lol 😂

Just run memtest86 if either of ur ram stick possibly have any error in the four passes it will pop up in my case memtest86 worked for me and ofc the problem could be related to bios or ur ram timings make sure that in the bios ur ram is set to optimal settings and ur bios is up to date and if u can't fix ur memory module you have no other solution then replacing it
@@AdityaMishra-mu1cc thanks for the info,I don't have this problem anymore I don't have the pc anymore as I upgraded but I remember taking the ram out and switching them around in different configurations and it helped

Hi, thank you! I did exactly what you said. I took the 2 ram chips, I tested one at a time. The first was complete good. I removed it and place the second one and started the pc. Immediately the the computer screen turned blue. I knew right away that was the one that was definitely not working. I turned the pc off and replaced it with another. Yeah!!! My pc is working 100%! Thank you!

hey team, old video i know but still relevent. before i even thought to pull apart my pc i updated the motherboard bios and it fixed the issue entirely. you really need to cover all the bases to reduce as many variables as possble, taking out one stick at a time is a great tip

So I have 2 sticks of 32gb memory, and when im in windows after about 3 minutes, no matter which stick is in the system, it tells me my memory is faulty. Is it more likely that both sticks are individually faulty or that the motherboard or an external thing from RAM is the issue?
could be an incompatibility issue or the XMP settings aren't dialed in right

I get memory management issues after setting it to profile one at 3200. Does anyone know a way to figure out if it it my memory being unstable or even my MB being wacky. Keep in mind I never get Bsods while using the system. Only get them when I start it up. Setting the ram to default speed fixes the issue but I want to know what can be done to fix and OC my ram.
depends on the processor and system specs , join the discord for a chat if you like and we can see what can be done
I have this issue, and after quite a few reboots I can get it to start. I've tried resetting the RAM and that doesn't seem to help. I've also run the diagnosis and came up with nothing

Holy cow it worked, well I didn't lick it but I used a wet wipe and compressed air, ran the windows memory diagnostic tool and no errors, it reminds me back in the day with snes cartridges if they didn't work properly I would clear the metal stripes, now that goes double for ram. Oh BTW I also sprayed compressed air near the sockets as well.
glad it worked out for you
My issue was ddr5 xmp frequency was too high. It’s rated for 6400 but I went to 6000 and it worked like a charm. I ran the long test and success ! I’m very happy

I'm having the memory management issue I have 2x 8GB sticks same make and model my BIOS and PC Spec show both modules installed however when I run a game or application that uses more than 8GB my PC blue screens, done the memory diagnostics on the individual ram sticks and on their own they are both working fine it's when they are together that the memory error happens and yes they are channelled, would that be an issue with my motherboard? Because they were working fine for a year and then one day it just started acting up and doing the crashing, and I don't want to waste money on replacing components that might not be the cause.

I got a new ram for my laptop when i insert the ram the computer starts flickerying and going crazy i think they sent me a faulty stick.
yes that sounds like a bad stick to me
On mine it was still using the xmp profile for the original ram which had different frequency/timings even though the correct frequency was being displayed in the dropdown in the bios. So just change it to non xmp profile then save changes then change it back to the new rams xmp profile.
great tip! thanks

Roll back the update and see if it still happens if not then it was just a coincidence that it started at the same time.

I just got this problem. Suddenly when using the pc for work it got bsod and it says memory error something. It goes to boot loop with random bsod from kernel error, etc. and the last try, it went to no signal to the display. I almost cry because I did other windows troubleshoot and it didn't work.
Then I remember that I have a backup ram that I bought couple months ago and haven't test it out lmao. So I changed it and also I did a cmos reset, and hold the power button for a minute. Then turn on the pc, have signal, can go to the bios, change the ram speed and timing. It works perfectly now. While turning on from the ram change, the windows didn't go through the chkdsk or any windows check. it just like there are no errors in the first place.
ended up with a good working system now though
My problem is of the same you are talking about. These RAMS cards and PC around 2 years old. It just gave me the stop code: Memory Management and restarted my PC. When I returned I figured out how to run the test and restart. It ran the windows program you showed and 1st test had an error. 2nd ran and then started windows after I go to screen where sign in is at. I then watched your video. I will if you suggest take the cards out since I put them in 8G each for 16G right after buying the PC. No problems until recently then things started going really slow even hours after a cache all time removed. Then days later when my pc usually will run great with 20 windows open. I only had 5 or so then got the blue screen and this is where I am at now. So the next step to clean the RAM cards and maybe this works or maybe one is bad? I know nothing about the bios thing. I never saw any high usage amounts using Task Manager Toping out around 8G with 20 windows and running a online movie. Then things started going slower and slower and then the blue screen. tks for your time.
thanks for watching and talking the time to tell us about it

I noticed that amd ryzen master also sets it in manual like way, coz when i enter bios there is xmp set on off but all the voltages etc. set to 1.35 and other numbers to achieve 3200 on my ram
I ran all the RAM tests, it says my RAM is fine. I also FULLY Reset my PC through windows (the one that takes hours) I also wiped my HDD and I am still getting the memory managment error. Please help...

I have the same problem how did you fix it?
@@slicerxr2860 it was my RAM once I took the sticks out and replaced them it started working with no errors. I was refusing to think it was my ram but yes that was the issue I just didn’t want to accept that I had to spend more money lol
thanks man , fixed my problem🎉

I was getting these Memory Managements and System Service Exception BSODs for months and ignored them until a few days ago when my PC could not boot into Windows without a crash, and if it did, no icons would show up and if I clicked the desktop or taskbar it would immediately crash every time. My C Drive became corrupted and I could not startup repair, reset my PC or even reinstall windows without error even after formatting the drive. At one point it did a full Windows reinstall on the drive but I could not open the start menu, settings, or the taskbar icons in the bottom right.
I installed a new SSD, formatted it, partitioned correctly and it was STILL failing to reinstall windows or even reset. Reseating the RAM did not work. What fixed it was me taking out one of my 2 sticks of RAM, and attempting to reinstall again on the new freshly formatted SSD. Went smooth for the most part but had to do one last PC reset because a Cumulative update refused to install. Except for the C Drive and the small programs I put on there, all of my info on my other drives were saved. With my PC back up and running I ran memtest86 on the RAM stick I took out and it found over 15,000 errors in less then 15 minutes. Ordered a new set of RAM expeditiously.
Moral of the story: If you start getting these BSODs consistently, do not ignore them lol. Run a memtest overnight and see how it holds up, also it's nice to have multiple drives instead of one big C Drive just in case the C Drive gets corrupted somehow, or at least get an external hard drive to back everything up to. Hope this helps anyone because for a while I thought my PC was bricked.
AGREED, don't leave it to fester, or gradually it will all fall apart
Do you know how to fix attempted write readonly memory?
not sure sorry but sounds like a piece of software doing something it shouldn't be
Hey Mike,
I use the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16X2 32GB 3.2 GHz modules.
When I enable XMP I always get a BSOD saying 'MEMORY MANAGEMENT' error.
When I disable XMP it runs at stock speed 2133MHz Any idea what can be done to fix this?
I have tried everything you mentioned in this video still nothing works.
My specs should you need it:
5800X
X570 Unify (A70 Bios)
RTX 3080 FE (Driver 461. 72)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16X2 32GB 3200MHz Modules
corsair ram is always problematic is XMP. write down the specs of the ram from the packaging and manually add it to the bios that should fix it
@@mikesunboxingany idea how I should do it?
I'll try and see how it goes.
Thanks however.
i have almost the same system and having troubles with my RAM too... :(
@@ShhheilaASMR my ram stick was a faulty one and after getting it replaced, everything was fine.
I used memory diagnostic tools and it says I hava a memory problem and contact manufacturers. Do I have to buy a new ram? :(
most ram has a limited lifetime warranty so i would contact the manufacturers as the app suggested
@@mikesunboxing I have contacted the shop they are going to take 1 week to check the ram. I have a question, I use 2x 4gb ddr4 2400mhz ram and b450m ds3h gigabyte mobo. I am thinking to upgrade my ram to 16gb so I am thinking to buy more 2x 4gb memory. But I am confused if it will still be in dual channel cuz Ryzen likes dual channel memory. I have ryzen 3 2200g processor. or I can sell my current memory sticks and buy 2x 8gb memory. if I buy 2x 8gb which brand would you suggest for ryzen 3 2200g processor and what speed?
also love your videos
I get a critical process error whenever my pc starts up, cant even do safemode, uninstall updates what the hell do I do...

When playing any game after 10 minutes the computer crashes and the blue screen appears
(I've cleaned the ram and when I run Windows memory diagnostic it says my ram is fine)
right click on the start button / windows icon and choose the event viewer and see what the errors are then let me know here or in the discord chat and we can see if the answer is an easy one
i get screened out w an error that says too much ram use . and typically need to restart i lowered ram in game all the way too 2 gb even tho i have 16. but when im on discord and apex i tend to crash every now and then to memory but cant see why! it will say apex is pulling an absurd amount when i lowered settings cant find solution anywhere
that is weird
@@mikesunboxing from what ivw seen its only when i play apex. i use very common and popular 16 gb ram i think its possibly an internal setting other then in game
Second ram was giving errors , so i just replaced them and now both the rams are working fine on dual channel
glad to hear you sorted it
I need some help because I recently put in a new motherboard and processor and I have had constant memory management bsods I don't know how to fix it
My specs are amd 5600x, mother board is A520M-A PRO, 16 gb of ram, 700 watt psu, EVGA gtx 1060 3gb
what speed are you trying to run the RAM at and is the RAM on the hardware compatibility list? if not maybe try setting the XMP manually

I see Mike's passion about what he is doing but licking your PC parts is a dedication on another level.
Joke aside, great video. If I have problem with my ram will try it, starting with the licking of course!
To be honest I had a problem with my streaming pc not booting yesterday and took out the ram licked it put it back in and it worked straight away
