Oh for sure Amazon is gonna hire CR to run a LotR one shot around when the show comes out. Now they need to use their connections to get dom and billy to play too!
It's a funny dynamic to see Sam on the outside of such a tight friendship as Dom and Billy, which is probably how guests feel when they go on AWNP with Sam and Liam.
Billy -What's that? Dom -This, my friend, is a gallon. Billy -It comes in gallons? ....I'm getting one. (Sean -You had a whole half already!!) Sam -me too!. * *pull up a giant tankard/flask/gas can*
"Who wants to see an old man running around with a sword?" -Sam Riegel. Consciously aware Beltrand Bell exists and will probably get a chance to animate him someday...
As a british guy I do love the dynamic between these two brits and outside Americans. Dom saying gubbins and Sam replying 'Whats a gobbin?' cracked me up! I'ev also watched a few inter views with Sam and for some reason this one feels the most genuine when he's recanting tales of his life. It really is a shame they didn't have the time to talk about his time as a teen in theatre because it's a very interesting story.
Dom was excellent as Archie in LoVM! Also, I wanted to see Sam's face during the Manscaped sponsor spot... or let him make a skit for them like he does for Critical Role sponsors, LMAO
the perfect podcast: two best mates from Lord of the Rings, talking to an actor about Dungeons and Dragons, and throwing in a Micah Richards reference. Top drawer lads
Doms "i know dom, thats what im telling ye" killed me lol So cool sam was on here big fan of em all. Also dom yes your character was pretty cool on vox machina!
been listening to the Dom & Dragons podcast per some people's recommendation last week and it's cool how quarantining led to more voice work for Dom and also was the main reason he started playing D&D, because of how much time he had on his hands 😅
...He knows my name.. Gentleman! Well if that didn't make my year! Much love to you both. Really looking forward to seeing what you both have in store for us in the future! And getting Billy to play DND!
My childhood best friend just passed away and yalls chemistry always reminded me of him and I. Ever since his passing, this podcast means a whole lot more to me now than it already did. Love the podcast, you guys are great.
Thanks for sharing your story. I can't imagine losing someone that close to me. I hope that you can stay strong for your friend and those who love and care about you. Have a wonderful day.
"That's not soup, that's a sauce!" Had me in stiches. Holy hell, that entire moment in the conversation was amazing. Oh god, love you all. I came here because I saw Sam as guest, and didn't know this existed. I've binged every episode since... And enjoyed every second since. One of the things about this show I love about all else is how unedited you are. You just let things happen, you let a conversation go on, you let guests go on forever about something (i.e., Colbert about his daily schedule) and it's still so interesting and great. It might not be funny, but it's insightful and still entertaining. Or it it's just everyone relaxed and just enjoying the moment. And I really got your format when I watched the Colbert episodes... you really gave it the guest to guide how the show went, really let them talk about what they wanted to say. And that was far more interesting, engaging, and worth watching then anything else out there. Although I got to say you guys giving Sean crap was absolutely amazing some of the greatest things I've ever seen. The whole giving the pilot giving hand signals well always make me laugh. I would love to see you guys in prime time just having a great old time with a single guest and just plain having fun rather then anything serious. Cheers, and excited to see each new episode!
I love every episode, but these ones with Sam have been my favorite so far. The three of you have such a great, easy chemistry. I would LOVE to see more Critical Role guests come over to chat with Dom and Billy, and even more than that, I would LOOOVE to see Dom and Billy guest star on Critical Role (in a one-shot, mini series, or otherwise). I could listen to the three of these guys chat all day about literally anything.
I just found your podcast via Critical Role, and subscribed immediately. :) Dom's performance in TLOVM was amazing, and I'd love to see both of you do at least a cameo in the future episodes. :) You should DEFINITELY do a D&D episode for the podcast, but just be careful: First you think you're just doing a oneshot with your buddies, but it quickly turns into a habit. Before you know, you'll be livestreaming your sessions for over ten thousand live viewers across the globe and running a your own media company that is turning your gaming sessions into a hugely popular animated series.
@@bananafish58 It's a real slippery slope! :D Honestly, though, I would love to see them do a oneshot D&D session, and having them on Critical Role as guests would make the Critters lose their minds.
I enjoy going to a YT creator's home page once a member of CR is on their channel to see how much of a Critter Hug their videos get. Not bad, though if Sam mentioned being on here during a Thursday as opposed to during the LoVM Watch Party I expect the amount of hits per video would have been double this. We're all very proud of our cult.
(looks at their Sub Count) Nah... I think Dom and Billy are fine. ;) You have to remember that while Critical Role is only just now bursting into the International Mainstream, Billy and Dom have been part of the International Mainstream for the last 20 years. Still, they'll probably, at least, double the eyes on their product because of this; especially if they bring Sam back or other members of Critical Role. Seems like Dom saying "yes" to Legend of Vox Machina is about to pay big dividends for The Friendship Onion!
Dom was FANTASTIC as Archie!!! His dialog with Percy really did feel like two old friends going back and forth. So happy to have him be a part of the Critical Role family now. Also Sam talking about his grandma and her soup was so sweet! ALSO I love that I know what gubbins is because of Gavin from Achievement Hunter/Slo-mo Guys!!
The fact that this exists makes me so happy...Lord of the Rings is my favorite franchise of all time, and I've watched all of campaign 1 of Critical Role, and now it's being brought together which is surreal. They should definitely play D&D on the show!
Lovely chat to listen in on, really enjoyed this episode! Please have Sam back sometime! Very grateful to you for sharing your oma's story. I'm with Billy, cracking up at "dobber" being in Vox Machina. Thanks Dom for properly representing us 🤣
I love that you guys got together to do this podcast. I hope that you guys and Sam and LIam do a joint like All Work No Play and Friendship Onion thing. Would be awesome. D&D started because of Lord of the Rings, halflings were originally called Hobbits in the game, but due to copy right, they had to change.
I love the energy the 3 of them have. Sam has a similar vibe and friendships with the cast of critical role as they do with the cast of LOTR. I think having them on as guests on a critical role episode would be beyond amazing. I think more actors should get into DND so they can express there great improve and story telling skills!
That buttermilk is definitely a thing. Nice, proper milk (might have to be non-pasteurized for it to work) doesn't get sour but kind of coagulates and is not bad at all, if somewhat weird for the non initiated. I grew up on the stuff in Latvia, where we call it rūgušpiens
Just wanted to say that I loved the LoTR trilogy. It brought me to fantasy in general and eventually to DND with Critical Role with the story telling. So great to see this all come together. It’s fantastic!
What a delightful episode! Please, please, please have Sam return soon to do a mini-DnD episode. I bet Billy will love it so much that you'll decide to do a part 2 to extend your adventure! Came for Sam, but I'm staying for The Boys!
my grandma moved to the states from Germany during the war. as a kid I grew up with Jewish, Polish and German food. I still cook it around the holidays or when I'm with my sister.

Oh man. Billy’s gran sounds like my dad. He’ll eat or drink anything passed the expiration, eat moldy bread, shit that fell on floor and none of it phases him.

We seriously need them as guests in a critical role LoTR thematic one shot

"I've always wondered how much a gallon is."
"Well, it's a gallon!"

"This, my friend, is a gallon"
"It comes in gallons? I'm getting one."
"Let's turn that five minutes into a full hour" better be code for "Would you like to guest on Critical Role"
I can't believe Sam missed out on Dom's big flask, considering ridiculous sized drinking vessels has been one of his bits in three campaigns now 😂
that's the Elvira water bottle it's fucking fantastic. can't recommend it enough
Here I am sitting in Heidelberg, Germany, learning that Sam Riegel's Oma was one of us. That's awesome.
And you thought Caleb was the most Gernan Critical Role ever gets
When I woke up today, I didn’t know that I needed to listen to three men discuss soup for nearly an hour, but it’s perfect.
Nothing makes you look more like a hobbit again than holding a gallon water bottle.
"This, my friend, is a pint."
"It comes in pints?"

Dom -This, my friend, is a gallon.
Billy -It comes in gallons? ....I'm getting one.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Billy and Dom NEED to play DnD!
Dom does, and Billy is very interested after talking with Sam.
I think Shadowrun would be more to their taste, since both said they are more into Sci-Fi than Fantasy.
