good day relatives. My name is Carolyn Tytor, Whiteshawl, adopted daughter to Navajo elder Tommy Nez. My grandfather a two time war veteran, humble man, would tell me, that although he was a traditional man, seeing the world was changing, he was open to change too, for the better. He never turned anyone away from a ceremony, if Creator of the medicine called them to it. He reminded us that a family that prays together stays together...this way we could all walk in beauty...blessings.
It is good to know that these songs are good for people ho are sick myself I'm a yuchee from the great state of oklahoma and I do enjoy all the tribes songs,
God is inside every human's soul. You cant compare and judge anything. Everyone follow his own path to the perfectionsy. We have to accept that and do something for ourselves. This is a masterpiece and its sad that some people recorded it ... I wish one day i will singing it with them!
Native American Church ~ Nizhonii!! The songs we sing & prayers come from our hearts for our people and those who have gone before us and those who are coming into this world. We sing/pray for strenght to carry on in our lives and have Hope, Faith, Charity and Love. We are the true Americans of this country. We have our beliefs as every one else does. Lots of good memories inside our church. Keep singing and keep having the strenght to withstand the negative aspects/people of life. Haho! :)
I know a Road Man -he told me to call him Joe.He has a beautiful family, and many horses. He is my brother in Spirit, and one of my teachers-I miss his company and wisdom-but with these prayers in your songs I stay connected-Thank You/CRAZYWOLF
The songs bring back childhood memories, my father and oldest brother use to always sings in front of our home in the evenings. they are both are now gone, so at times its hard to listen to these songs but they sure are beautiful memories.
Thank you so very much for sharing this amazing song in your native tongue, especailly in a live prayer gathering. Many people dont know their culture or native tongue. These songs are prayers. For those who speak negative, have fun with that as our song brings positive and good blessing to our family!!! I'm sure your bible teaches you about respect! Amen
Our teaching by our Elders to carry our traditional ways with respect, and humble ourselves when we practice these ways. Utilizing it to our children to move forward to be strong in a Great way for their families. Nizohni' ba' ho'zohi'
That is it! All roads lead to You! No matter if red, blue or whatever :) Peace and Love to you all and thanks for this record. Nice one with good Spirit.
Beautiful, the pictures especially the crescent moon at the beginning, the sings brings back memories of my family @ the meetings, walking in the way of prayer, I'm proud of my heritage :)
What an honor to hear these sacred songs.I feel really good an feel for ppl who judge others, should just pray for these ppl. I agree but not every person can get to a meeting an how else can our future generation can learn if not through social media. These days it's hard to teach youngsters cause they are listening more to technology than their own elders an parents. Many blessings to one and all.
I love that third song! Thanks for sharing. Last time I was in Montana, heard that same song but with Crow words. Pretty neat. I enjoyed the drumming in the video, nice steady beat.
Have not attended a meeting in such along time but come to listen to these good songs on here and makes me miss going. May the holy one bless u all in a good way....Aho!!
Let God be God and leave the judgement up to himself and just do best to love one another in any way no matter what beliefs we may have. We are equal in his eyes unlike the rest of the world claims to view
good ones big sing I like how they Help each other.. Thats what it is Helping eaching out not let one Behide to sing and be alone. This what I been told is You Help each other out and Pary togather stay togather as a family in the tipi. Cuz you are letting a good Blessing and someone out side and in the tipi will get touch by the song or paryer, So sing for God and what hes has done for you, not the song but the fillings in the song we sing. Aho
Peyote is an earthly step for people on the way to their destiny. Don't argue "religion".Peyote is a medicine and a spiritual guide. You don't choose it...it chooses you.
TO THE GUY WHO'S BEING DISRESPECTFUL: YOU SHOW RESPECT TO YOUR PPL, ITS PPL LIKE YOU WHO MAKE MEMBERS LIKE US LOOK BAD WHEN WE SHOULD PRACTICE LOVE AND NOT ONLY TALK ABOUT IT BUT SHOW IT! IT'S NO WONDER PPL WHETHER THEY BE WHITE, NATIVE, OR BLACK WHO DON'T FOLLOW THESE WAYS CALL US CRAZY. WHERE'S YOUR RESPECT? YOU SHOULD TALK. AND NOT EVERYBODY KNOWS THESE RULES, IF YOU WANT PPL TO KNOW THEM @ LEAST SAY IT WITH LOVE AND ALL THE THINGS YOU TALKED ABOUT. THANK YOU AND HAVE A GOOD DAY
so sad to hear such beautiful songs and have to read such wicked comments. Only man would be so foolish to argue such a thing. Whether it be God, Jesus, The Holy Spirits, or who ever you choose to pray to let each have their own and respect that. "Jooba daniidzin" Where is that in you words?
im not telling how to do stuff where ur from but my elders say dont bring electronics into the meeting they say its best to keep it the old way and it impacts young ones because they see older people doing it so they assume its ok lets try to keep it the old way the way it was created and first used to heal and not try to change it
religion is religion - i have respect for all ways of communicating and praying to the holy ones, the creator, christ, god, and all we see as dieties. i will never say one religion or tradition or culture is supreme ....
I appreciate your comments. At times the bible speaks to me, but, it is because of its divine original intent. In the name of Christ, man has justified oppressing his children, the Indian. People get closer to the living spirit of the divine, if used with the right intent, whether its your way or our way. When you realize there is just one God, one water, one fire, one love, it becomes easier to accept the diversity of all peoples spiritual, linguistic, and religious worship and expression. tnx
Holy some ppl are so crazy. I may have come on too strong but I know means want to hurt anyone. My words weren't meant to hurt anyone. I just simply said not everybody knows all the rules and there's no need to kill or hurt anyone. Tell ppl kindly so they know otherwise it comes off the wrong way.
I have a question. Are Navajo NAC meetings held in Tipi's or Hogans since the Tipi is not Navajo, would they be held in a Hogan? And are the Peyote songs for the Navajo NAC in the Navajo language? Or are they all in Plains Tribes' languages?
I go to meetings in Pawnee. My Pawnee/Otoe uncle said one time a Navajo couple came over. The lady got sick during the midnight water and as she was helped up by the fire man, her tape recorder fell out of her dress. The roadman said "we don't do that here."
. I hear songs that are special but the occasional meeting goer will not be able to sing them. These songs are all worded special song are straight songs and the roadman interprets the meanings. but it's your call as a listener. songs are sung to glorify the almighty, whom you think it would be..
The name Native American Church has a long history behind it and how it was organized, it is also recognized by the government. Practicing of Native American Church ceremony is conducted by many tribes which include use of natural elements. There is no distortion of the mind when these elements are used correctly. I support your idea of posting songs and videos, isn't our idea to progress.
Whatever people choose to believe in, it's good. If it draws them closer to God and a feeling of inner peace, then what's wrong with the Bible? I'm not a fan of it, but I can't believe people who use medicine and pray in these humble ways would be hating on other's beliefs. There are even quite a few people in NAC who enjoy the Bible (Crossfire meetings use the Bible and Christian teachings). It's all good, dat's all I'm trying to say :)
pleeeeeze! Spirituality and comprehension of the Great spirit is obiously far from you if you put your faith in a book written by men. The divine cannot be put into words if youve ever really felt God you would know that!
What i have to say about this is. BliBle or what ever anybody whants to call any Religion REMEMBER ITS ALL THE SAME CREATOR WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SO RESPECT EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY.O.HO
these songs are FAR from 20K yrs. old; our style of NativeAmericanChurch peyote song music is 150 years old at best-regardless of what you would like to conclude about it. Best not to mislead people w/mind-bendingly inaccurate declarations
