The last samurai is never discussed as a Tom cruise movie and it's my favourite!
Tomorrow War has nothing to do with Edge of Tomorrow lol
I’ve watched it five times and still love it. One of Tom’s best movies.
If you keep comparing games and films you'll continue to have disappointments. Adaptations, film to film, IP something is based on....sure, to a point, but take a film on it's own merit
It's funny because Prey the game came out after Edge of tomorrow and I guarantee, had he seen EoT when it came out. He would like it far more. He's saying it's a template but that's with everything but I feel like theres too much comparison to Prey which again, we could argue used EoT as inspiration.
@@kotaserrill Its also only a template in character design. EoT is any where close to being the first time repeat movie. Groundhog Day is by far the most famous one and that came out 20 years before EoT and theres probably others.
It's ironic that you guessed IMDB #240 for Edge of Tomorrow because Groundhog Day (1993) is in that spot, possibly the most influential time loop movie ever. ;)
I REALLY liked Tom Cruise's performance in the movie Collateral - I wish he got cast as an antagonist more often
12 angry men is actually amazing
I remember being riveted the first time I watched it.
It is a masterpiece that feels timeless.
Watched it for the first time last year and didn't feel its age at all. I'm 23 and not really familiar with many black and white movies
@@paradox4780 im 22. I saw it when I was 15 and it grabbed me but my dad always watched old stuff
@@ClellBiggs sameeeee. And i was young
Locke, show Matty the video of tom cruise running and jumping onto the roof and he breaks his foot and then gets up and keeps running for the scene and I believe that is the scene that made it into a MI:6 i think it was
The knife stunt you're talking about involved a stunt man who was supposed to stab Cruise in the eye and Cruise was to stop him with the knife centimeters from his eyeball and the camera was a very tight shot on the point of the knife and his eye. Cruise wanted the real knife to be a hair away from his actual eye instead of using CG or a stuntman to replace him. So they tied a wire to the back of the knife which was measured to the exact length and Cruise told the stuntman to not hold back, come at him with the real intent to put the knife through his eye. If that wire was even a tiny bit too long or if it snapped, Cruise would have gotten a knife through the brain.
Mission Impossible 2 I think
"This could just be a problem with me..."
Sigh.
If all the soldiers died in the end,
Matty: "I think it would've been better if the soldiers lived, I think killing the soldiers was predictable, like they're trying too hard to tug at my heart strings"
Lock, I recommend don't do Collateral TOO soon. Let Tom Cruise establish his type with Matty first, then let Tom subvert it in Collateral. Do a couple Mission Impossibles first, maybe the first 3.
Make him watch True Lies ... that one of the best action movies ever made. If he hates that, then you'll know for sure he hates Action movies.
Minority Report, that seems like it would fit Matty's style.... I wonder how he'd feel about Oblivion.
The Mummy movie was one of the worst he was in, but Tom Cruise is in very few flops.
Great video! If you want to see a great movie with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, look no further than Interview with a Vampire! It’s in my opinion the best vampire movie ever made, and you will never see Brad Pitt or Tom cruise in a movie like that ever again. Also it’s probably Tom Cruises most entertaining performance ever.
I’m very excited for next weeks episode, all those contenders are absolute classics. If you’ve never seen any of those, I hope The Wizard of Oz will be the winner. It’s in a lot of ways, the “Star Wars” of that time. 12 Angry Men and Seven Samurai are still a classics today also. I respect Casablanca and Citizen Kane for what they did and what they are, but I find these ones really hard to rewatch lol.
I just watched 12 Angry Men for the first time a few months ago, it became an instant favorite for me
Such a great movie! I remember seeing it in theaters and loving it. It’s been a while though.
Matty. You need to watch “Everything Everywhere all at once”
It’s a multiverse movie but its the very unique movie . I think you’d like it. It is a wild movie. Locke have you every seen it?
@@IfYouSeekCaveman the hotdog fingers was weird😂. The rock part wasn’t bad though. Even if its not all amazing, its worth the watch for its uniqueness
I'm actually looking forward to these classic episodes.
Knowing Tom Cruise as the guy somehow connected to the Starfield twitter account is INSANE lmao
Matty, there is a Light Novel/Novella version of All You Need Is Kill, that is even better than the Manga. The protagonist is a teen, and they go into more depth; it really changes the story, highly recommended. I read it in 2 nights.
Where is AoT??
Im actually surprised this was chosen. I didnt realize it was noteworthy thus i havent seen it
The Last Samurai is Tom Cruise's best movie, in my opinion.
Legend is another Tom Cruise top film...but Seven Samurai is a must to watch a top tier film matty
I’ve always been very confused about Lock’s deep hatred for Anime/Manga while at the same time having the posters behind him lol. I can never tell if it just a bit or not?
Lol 😂😂
He knows Tom Cruise is in Tropic Thunder right?
That fetus comment killed me 😂
Gotta watch Tom Cruise in Cocktail next 🍸
Aye Matty chill you have some fans over here in Cali. But I’m trying to leave California too😂😂😂
Mission impossible series (except MI2) is fantastic
Ahhhh you have to watch Jerry Maguire and A Few Good Men
One of these days, Tom will complete Matty...
Please watch the 1994 Crow.
Action, revenge, style. It will move Matty.
Prey the game came out after edge of tomorrow so there is no comparison.
@@IfYouSeekCaveman no it’s the fact he was saying they took the mimic idea from prey but it came out later than the movie.
@@OffmywavekooksThat’s a the point. The game came out after, so they feel they copied the idea for the game that released after.
I’ve never even heard of this movie, lol
Yeah i think the real knife scene is in MI 2, where the knife is really close to his eye
The knife scene was from MI2, and yes they dropped a real knife and stopped it just millimeters from his eye.
Its so coincidental that you guys are talking about this film now because I literally just grabbed Edge of Tomorrow from my shelf the other day because I plan to rewatch it soon and I didnt know this video was posting to youtube.
Matty really needs to check out Minority Report though.
Great movie
Wow he looks so uninterested you gotta stop the i seen this in video games they did it better you are just gonna ruin movies for yourself man
Tomorrow War is not a sequel, its a different movie. Cool premise but not the same. Its about future soldiers coming to the present, to warn / recruit fighters for a war against aliens in the future. Ultimately kind of forgettable for that kind of premise.
Top Gun when?
This movie was mid to me. All the characters felt vanilla to me and I wasn’t invested in them at all. Plus they time looped way too many times in my opinion. After half way through the movie I was alright I get it. Felt like I watched the movie 10 times in one sitting. And the alien/mimics/omega was just uninteresting felt generic. Felt like a mindless creature doing the same animations with zero personality like I wanted more lore and a better purpose for them instead of oh they want to destroy the world. And I agree the end felt cheap didn’t believe in the “love story” at all
Sci-Fi Groundhog's Day .... this movie was just OK for me.
Edge of Tomorrow.
It’s action packed and not the braindead kind of action, the characters and actors playing them are superb, Tom Cruise may be bat shit crazy but he is a legend. So much respect for the man.
Emily Blunt is a wonderful actress, strong, intelligent but she is not part of the Woke feminazi cult, thus she is a perfect female protagonist in this film, well written (the pinnacle of what a militarised female protagonist should be) as well as quite attractive, the world needs more women like her.
I love the premise of the film , its emotional aspects and the ending is just, chefs kiss.
Gambit is in deadpool and Wolverine movie 😂
The Mummy was a pretty bad Tom Cruise movie
This was an awesome movie… no mention of how the omega blood let him reset farther than one day though…
@Locke… dude, come on… get off your rear and watch tomorrow war… it’s phenomenal. And, slightly sad at you, no mention of similarities to groundhogs day in how the character changes… maybe make him watch that at groundhogs day?
Also, in reference to Matty saying he’s an action guy… no mention of color of money, far and away, rain man? Lost opportunity lol
I hate this movie 🤣🤣
