This is such a useful technique in my no healing speedrun. Those grabby hands ganado are the most annoying enemy to be mixed against regular armed one since i would expect a punch from them. So the fact that this move is not a random chance is so useful to know. Thanks
you can also crouch as they charge. I found it always worked and they never grabbed me, also no delay, you can just get right back up instead of stumbling. I never knew you could do it this way though! Very cool.
While sprinting, tap a movement key on the exact frame you would get grabbed. It is A LOT more strict than perfect parries as you need to be frame perfect. First 2 were Shift + W, the rest were Shift + A. Edit: You don't need to hold Shift. To trigger grab evade, press a movement key while sprinting at the exact frame you would get grabbed.
@@Abbot_ After more testing, movement keys seem to be a key factor in pulling this off. You can sprint towards a grab but you have to tap another movement key away from the grab to trigger this animation. If you're standing still like I did in this vid then you have to hit them both simultaneously. Edit: I show some examples of pulling this off while sprinting here www.reddit.com/r/residentevil4/comments/18azgfp/grab_evade_inputs_with_30_fps_cap/?context=3
Nice! I noticed that you can use the sprint button to dodge a lot of attacks (even some bosses, like Krauser), so a video about all dodging possibilites would be cool. Good job!
This is a feature that originated from RE2. Because Resident Evil games on the RE engine are based on RE2, this feature was also kept as well. This is also why it is in RE3 and RE4 with seemingly nothing to teach you about this mechanic.
I thought the grab escape was entirely random, had no idea you could learn to do it on command

I still find it ridiculous that the simple grab is more punishing than missing a parry🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Which input is the exact frame? The direction? Or do they both need to be pressed simultaneously at the exact frame?
can you hold w then tap shift when hit or is it both simultaneously?

@OOF00 Definitely a weird mechanic. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to try it out for myself

I’ll try to incorporate that on a series I’m working on. Thanks!

Thank you for uploading this. I wanted to make a video about it but i wasn't sure how it worked so i gave up because i thought I'd look crazy
They just wanted a hug.....
Beaten this six or seven times and haven't seen this once. Thank you for the PSA
This is insane, you can actually dodge the most punishing move in the game?
Yup, although it is really hard to pull off. Maybe it might be easier if you set fps to 30, but I haven’t tested that myself yet.
I usually just crouch and the enemy will whiff the grab.
What a completely gorgeous technique
Wow thanks, never knew this was intentional!
Holy shit! I didn't even know this tech existed.
Wow grabbing can be evaded ...!!???
Literally thanx 4 the info ...❤
Thank you for figuring this out. This is such a bizarre mechanic ever since they introduced it in RE2 Remake.
What do I do if they grab me even when I didn't touch them?
Thanks ,
Plz If you have more technical vids like this plz post them cuz I mostly feel the combat is a downgrade from OG
What difficulty was this on? If this works consistently in Professional, then this is a HUGE game changer.
This was on Professional
This works in RE2?
yea
In RE2 it was proven to be completely random on all difficulties
@@ThatOneBlackNope, it can be activated the same way as RE4
