- Iranian Canadian politician Goldie Ghamari has condemned a “pro-Hamas” rally in Canada as she expressed concern about the rising hate and anger she has witnessed in her community.
Ms Ghamari delivered a speech in the Canadian Parliament about her family escaping Iran after the Islamic Revolution, drawing comparisons to the terrorist regime in Gaza under Hamas.
“That’s the same regime that spreads anti-Semitic information and propaganda,” she told the Ontario Legislature in Canada.
Demonstrations which took place shortly after Hamas’ terrorist attack against Israel on October 7 have been condemned by the Canadian Prime Minister and other authorities after some protesters glorified the terrorist group’s violence.
The Canadian MPP said the rallies were the first time in her life she felt “uncomfortable” as a Canadian.
“That is the kind of behaviour you see in radical, fundamentalist countries - not in Canada.
“That is not the Canada my parents emigrated to, that is not the Canada that we were raised in.”

I know a Nigerian lady who has her doctorate in education and she has no intention of returning to her country because of the kidnappings and demands of ransom which have greatly increased since a few years ago. Sure, Iranian theocracy must be condemned, but she uses hyperbolic language and false claims, and is therefore not credible. Iran was NOT a plural democratic country prior to Islamic revolution of Ayatollah in 1979, as she asserts. It was ruled by a pro-west monarch, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was installed as a western puppet when democratically elected prime minister was overthrown in a military coup orchestrated by the CIA in 1950s. Western oil industry obviously did not want Iranian oil to be nationalized by the elected Iranian politicians.

I worked with an Iranian woman who refers to herself as Persian. I watch her stress for her family back home. I would find her in tears at times.

I had three really good friends at University in the 1970s, ALL who made a POINT of telling me, "we are PERSIAN, not Iranian". I stopped hearing from them 3 years after the 1979 Revolution. I pray Mahmoud, Sharom and Daryea are still safe but have never forgotten how emphatic the word, "PERSIAN" was said. Had lots of fun with them. REALLY good people !

Well you can feel.the power play here. I don't think religious displays in public spaces are bad. We had a Christian musician travel the country during COVID and hundreds would come to sing and pray. It was to give encouragement and hope to the country. So I'm ok with it if it's a positive move. But these guys doing those prayers in the square felt very odious. Not good. I grew up a stone's throw from Canada and often went there. The place has absolutely lost its magic - now it's a woke dystopia run by one of the worst ruling elites in the history of the Western world.
She made a mistake in her speech: Iran was not democratic, it was a monarchy prior to the Islamic Revolution. However, I think she meant to say that people had more freedom at that time.
Monarchies can be democratic, Canada itself is a monarchy as is Britain, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Japan and so on.
It was actions of the terrorist pro-Soviet left and the extremist mollahs that compelled the late Shah to take decisive action against them.
In any case, compared to the Islamic Republic, Iran under the Shah was heaven on earth. The fact that under the Shah no Iranian had to emigrate is the proof.
Sweden now has a constitutional monarch, so does England, it is true that during the time of Mohammad Reza Shah, there was not as much democracy as in the West, but we were good in the Middle East region. We were 100% better than the Islamic Republic
