This is my problem: I know how to turn on 120 HZ without turning on Game Mode/VRR but for some reason the fresh rate is even lower on certain games such as Resident Evil 0 and 1 as well as the Video and streaming apps, with the exception of Disney Plus. I don’t have this problem with 60 HZ turned on. What is the problem?

Helpful tip. If you can change your settings to 1440p 120hz. You're good to go . Some games don't allow 120hz and will default to 60hz. Make sure you change your settings back to 4k 60hz if the game doesn't have a (quality) (performance) mode.

Make sure your hdmi 2.1 cable is connected to hdmi 2.1 port if you want 4k 120hz/fps if you only want 1080 p or 1440p 120hz you can use hdmi 2.0 port

@@dylan.dumondd First check if your device has hdmi 2.1 in the specs, on the back of some devices label each port, if not just test each and your xbox will either allow you 4k 120fps or not on each port. You will know because if your screen turns black after changing the setting it means it is not supported and your xbox will revert the setting after a couple of seconds.

Im on auto detect and i do have the option for 120hz, but every game still caps at 60fps. Does changing it from auto detect to HDMI change anything if i already have the option for 120hz though? I have a HDMI 1.4.

Unfortunately most games automatically cap at 60 fps on console, there is really only a rare amount of games that can run 120 fps. Mostly fps games like overwatch. Hope this helps.
