  • One of the deepest hopes a parent can have for their children is that they can find success following their passions. A life built on passion will always find a path to happiness. I recall a quote form Jon Bon Jovi - "Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate."
It’s not always evident when passion first begins to glimmer. It can be a feeling or a moment, but when it manifests, it is a spark that can grow to shine brighter than anything else around it. Passion will eventually command attention. It took a year and a half to fully realize Lucas’ passion for percussion, but when we saw the light, it has illuminated path of learning, experimentation, and musical excitement that continues to unfold. We’d like to share this journey with you.
As some who has experienced excellence and winning I have the humility to know it’s as much the people that surround us as it is the drive within us. This channel seeks to support anyone with a passion for music; to create an inclusive culture where all subscribers can learn and grow. We will share openly to kindle the flames of musical passion to get the most out of ourselves. Each and every one of us can find our voice in this great concert we call life.
Jeff Bezos once said, "You don't choose your passions, your passions choose you," ... "All of us are gifted with certain passions, and the people who are lucky are the ones who get to follow those things." I’ve experienced this on several occasions. Lucas has already confessed to me that he wants to spend his life doing music, so it’s my job to help him experience the same. Similar to the words of the late / great Neil Peart, “I've heard the stories. Like, Eric Clapton said he wanted to burn his guitar when he heard Jimi Hendrix play. I never understood that because, when I went and saw a great drummer or heard one, all I wanted to do was practice.” Every time Lucas sees a better drummer at work, the first thing he does is go downstairs to his kit and try what he heard. That’s a lesson Lucas learned on his own, but one I gladly share with the rest of you. Don’t be intimidated. It takes a lot of effort to build to success.
This channel will explore all avenues of drumming, music, and habits required to succeed. We will share styles, songs, lessons learned, equipment & setup in the hopes your journey avoids some of the mistakes we learn from; and for the things we get right, we hope you can share in those learnings to skip a few steps. I hope you consider joining us on this journey by subscribing. I will end with another quote from Neil Peart, “What is a master but a master student? And if that's true, then there's a responsibility on you to keep getting better and to explore avenues of your profession.” We look forward to exploring these avenues with all of you.
