    I lucked out and got one of these coming. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I'm extremely excited about the transformer sound. It really adds a lot with just a button.

      Nice! Yes, the transformers sound great on most stuff.
      After a few months of getting used to how it sounds and all the slight differences it does to my mixing, I've fallen extra in love with it. 😍

    I'm leaving this video basically with 1.) I need to finally grab a pair of those Really Nice Compressors and 2.) Diyre, which I love, just made another G Comp - which is original spec'd with some modern features. I like the G Bus with the 120hz HP though. Which transformer did they use? Jensen's would be a great mod.

      The transformers they went with are their own based on the API 2523, but there are extra wire hookups for different types of transformers. I definitely like the sound of the transformer on more aggressive music, for sure. Also, you can run the signal through the transformers without the compressor which is pretty cool.
      A couple things to note about the RNC's though: they're clean and bright but fart out if you turn the release down too fast, especially on bass signals. Deffo stick with a 76 for bass duties. They have a sidechain in, so if you want to let the bass through a bit you have to do some extra work, and when you do hook it up there's no switch for ignoring outside sidechain. Also they are unbanlaced, which has caused a couple of issues in the past but I've finally worked through those, haha. In all, they do sound nice, clear, and honestly kinda bright and you can CRUSH the drum bus if you're wanting to.

    Why do I get the feeling that on the G compressor the attack is slightly shorter than 30 ms?

    • @FacemeltingsolosMusic
      @FacemeltingsolosMusic Рік тому

      Yep, 10 Ms the whole time.

      The description on DIY site says can up compression ration by using a trim pot. i assume they mean driving signal in hard but I dont see a trim pot or is that the little screw under the needle?Waiting for these to be back in stock so I can get one. @@FacemeltingsolosMusic
