That armored vehicle first encountered looks like a 2S1 M1974 self-propelled artillery. Those carried a turreted 122mm gun and were based on the MT-LB general purpose tracked mover. A very good thing to blow up before it knows you're there. Okay, yeah. It was a 2S1 all right. The second one confirmed it.
I honestly would love to know how you guys always manage to be so well organized and competent during play, regardless of the number of players or mission style. Every video I watch, I think of my group and how most of them would be bitching the entire time. Take this one for example. Half of my group would be complaining about using the M14, half of those would be just whining because of iron sights, regardless of the weapon. Another quarter of the group would be senselessly running off ahead of the group. Got a few people who actually take it seriously, but you seem to have several dozen of those. Like, I know Shacktac isn't milsim (thank goodness, milsim is lame) but do you guys have some basic form of training to get new members up to speed or filter out non-serious people? Genuinely would love to accomplish something like what you guys have (and it's not like it would cut into what you have, Shacktac is and always will be the most sought-after Arma group).
This is a really complex question that doesn't have an easy answer to it. I've thought about doing a video/article about this at some point, but haven't yet. Are there more specific questions you have that I could cover in such a thing?
@@dslyecxi I can think of quite a few questions on the subject. - How do you screen new people? - Do you have Arma-related red flags that you look out for? - Do you have some sort of basic training to assimilate new members or do you just throw them in as a standard rifleman? - Do you have advanced training if they want to play a role other than rifleman? - How do you manage to not have players abusing the personal arsenal that you guys use? I couldn’t even dream of allowing a personal arsenal for our group. - How many of these missions do you guys tend to do in a single day/week? I’m curious because my group plays 1 or 2 on the weekend, and we could probably squeeze in some more (even during the week perhaps) but I don’t want people to get burned out. Those are all my burning questions that I could think of right now. Whether you feel like answering here or using them in a video, I appreciate you taking the time!
*oh shit!* I didn't realize this was a TNO scenario.. that's so dope. Crazy medium/genre bending for this to happen.. i forgot that SA is that universe's Nam, but worse. TNO should really get a Limited Series.
@@audiosurfarchive Ah, I tried out the mod today, playing as South Africa is quite the experience when going in blind as I was wiped out quite quickly because I had no idea where the enemy would spawn or who I'd be fighting.
Would love to see a Russian Clans/warlords scenario from TNO as a possible operation. That shit would be insane, especially if it's _melee a trois_ with 2 RUS factions (players v. CPU) and an additional Reich faction involved (CPU).
The 2s3 is bigger, looks like a 2S1 Gvozdika to me. You can really notice it if you compare pictures side by side, the turret profile on the Akatsiya is massive, the Gvozdika has a much lower profile, and a angled front, because the Gvozdika is amphibious.
Anyone spoonfeed me on how many total players there are in an Op like this? EDIT: I suppose also the overall COC would help too. Is it a Company size Op? I'm not familiar with Nam/mid-coldwar/SA civil war unit structure, assuming also if there's anachronisms for fun/balance? Love this. Helps me sleep.
What is that ace medical menu Dslyecxi has, with the menu popping up and all the options just being laid out. It's really cool but I have no idea how to get it.
ACE cook-off has been creating desync on servers for the last few months. Not usually a problem unless you have huge player counts, but shacktac has those huge player counts.
The chatter audio is always somewhat lower volume than gunshots and I always have a hard time trying to understand what anyone is saying. Surely, when you play, you can hear the voice audio better than other sounds, is that possible to tweak for us viewers?
Yikes, no thanks. Plenty of others do that. These are stream-of-consciouness, authentic, POV limited immersion focused. Few do long form vids like this without it being an entire stream, no editing, annoying stream logistics (donations, chat talk, etc) This js very niche, and it dominates that niche it carved out across a decade+.
Waiting for ARMA 4 truly is the Vietnam of game release schedules.

wanted to watch a movie today, didn't know what to watch. then this came up. what timing
Quite an interesting scenario. Kudos to Chris!
I don't even play this any more but never miss a video. Maybe one day I'll make the time. Great work D/.
Cool objectives, cool people, cool flashlights... the perfect mission!

@@Fireburnin21 It's a massive mod for Hearts Of Iron 4. It's the sequel to Kaiserreich; essentially if Central Powers won both WWI and WWII.

I think those vehicles at about the 14 min mark are 2s3 Akatsiya Russian artillery prices btw great vid as always

Shack tac is short for shacktical tactical

Kujari. Any time I go into my map screen, you'll see the terrain name in the upper left of the top bar, after the mission name.
